Another Marx quote.
"In this sense, the theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property."
what are you not understanding lmao. socialism and communism is worker ownership of the means of production. capitalism is private ownership of the means of production. abolishing private property = abolishing private ownership of the means of production.

In capitalism this signal is price. What is the signal sent to producers and distribution to determine where to send specific amounts of items to meet demand?

This is why communism has shortages that starve millions.

Communism was beaten by capitalism. The ussr fractured, and China adopted some capitalist economic ideas to survive.

It’s like you’re rooting for a team that has already lost the game.

how do you feel about market socialism? in my midwit mind something like a hybrid where i can still buy groan tubes and matched quads of sylvania 6V6GTs from before i was born, but also (for example) the pharmaceutical industry is taken out of the hands of capitalists that see us as a product

i'm for that...IF...the research continues at the same pace it was going when profit $$$ was the prime motivator. i'm sure that the actual science-minded researchers would continue apace, but...would those that pay them to do the research? many, if not most, of those individuals want to see a (outlandish) return on their investment. :(

we pay for a lot of that r+d with our tax money, i imagine it'll be better if we remove the profit motives from the equation entirely

true, but at some point we have to invest for returns vis-a-vis the health and future of americans
