The Columbian gold i had back in the 70ties had a gold color with orange hairs. It was very potent and had a trippy effect. The smell was like coca cola syrup. Can't find anything like that again. Wish i could find that kind.

Jesus Christ you described my Columbian leaning pheno to a T. At least how the buds smell.

These are my notes:

" the buds have a sweet Coca-Cola like smell, dark molasses or caramel"

It's a Punta Rosa from cannabiogen

I have a cut of chocolope with the coca-cola smell/taste

Santa Marta Gold

Santa Marta Gold

Here's some SMG I grew out a few hundred miles inland back in 2006. The seed came from bud grown for generations in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta Mountains of Colombia. It came from a very isolated region and I can verify its authenticity. The bud I got came from a Colombian friend of mine who has family there and like all the traditional cannabis from Colombia it was sweat cured chumps of somewhat seeded buds. I think this has a lot to do with the color and the taste. I liked what I grew from the original better because mine was seedless and dried and cure properly. The smell, taste and effects were just like I remembered from the 70’s only better.
Peace from Colombia

Growing up in rural Iowa, I had tons of places to grow and I started planting bagseeds 1976-77. I haven't bought any weed since the early 80's.

The bagseeds I had the most of were the Columbians with a few bags of Oaxacan (it was nearly 30 years before I learned it wasn't "wahawkan") and a bit of Jamaican. Thank god I had lots of seed and places to grow, because damn few of my plantings made it in the early days.

Then about 7 years ago I took the chance and ordered some seeds online. I had such good luck that I left my bagseed mix alone. By the time I tried them again I only got two seeds to germinate:

Both of these turned out male. I saved a bit of their genetics by hitting a female Amnesia Haze cross.

I'd love to try again with some pure Columbians.

I present the others lines as soon as I have a moment

You let me know when you post them I will be there.

With the three lines you have, which would be the most like what I bought in the mid 70's? I am more interested in obtaining Col Red, and Black is on my list too.

I have been working on repeating a proper sweat cure. So far my attempts have failed. If anyone out there has perfected a technique I would be grateful to hear about it.

I have been working on repeating a proper sweat cure. So far my attempts have failed. If anyone out there has perfected a technique I would be grateful to hear about it.

The best cure I ever did was when I harvested and trimmed about an once worth of bud which was left on a bit of stem. I don't remember if I dried it a bit first, but I don't think so. I wrapped the bud up tight in a piece of paper from a old grocery bag, and put it in a hot attic. It must have been 90 to 100 degrees in the day, at least. It probably got down to 70 or 80 at night. I checked it in a week, and it was perfect. All the green was gone. It was actually from two different very small plants. Each strain came out a completely different color. It was gorgeous and smoke great. I never repeated it because I believe it could have gone very badly. I think I got lucky. If I was going to try it again, I think I'd want a hygrometer sticking out of the bundle. If the moisture does not drop fairly quickly, I bet it would turn to mold.

Just a story from my past,

ThaiBliss

Check out smg over at world of seeds its the real deal I was lucky enough to score a 1/4 pound of columbian gold back in 1979 this is the closest thing I have found in the past 35 years. If your a real sativa head you need to sprout and make seeds of this wonderful line. It is upnto all of us to pass this on to the next generation of growers, because this clear headed soaring high is the whole reason many of us started puffing and growing. Peace and love
