Colorado outdoor, Season 1

The growth is exploding! I can't believe they are growing as fast as they are now. As I said before, I've always been an indoor hydro guy. I was telling my friend "farmerinc" the other day that hydro is so much faster and I was kinda disappointed at the progress. Well, not anymore! I can't tell you how fast they are growing now, it's incredible.

The close up leaf pic is from a Black Domina/Afgan kush cross. I've named her the afghani 9 leaf. All are now bigger than their 5 gallon pots and should be in the bigger pots but I need to let the super soil cook a little longer before I move em.

Anyhow, here are the ladies. Try to refrain from tucking dollars!

jdkronky101: Thank, yes I've been following that thread for a guide. You're right, it's great

uptownchill: Yes, I plan on growing some monsters, should be a good harves. The truck wasn't an old beater. 2012 dodge ram that ALOMST went over the side of a 200' cliff, backhoe, trailer and all.

Everything going good again this week. Growth is CRAZY fast now. Measured a 2'' vertical growth in a 48 hour period. As well as being 2' wide. These thing are gonna be HUGE by the time they start flowering.

As you can see from the pics, one of the girls is having what seems to be an isolated K issue. I've narrowed it down to cold temps at night and hot days causing a slight K lockout. It's just the one plant and just on 2 branches. Can anyone confirm this? The old Overgrow site had a sick plants thread which I downloaded years ago and kept. It's where I came up with the cold/hot temp theory. Anyway, I think it's come out of itnow, I'll keep an eye on her for sure. Going in the big pots in two weeks!

Man, they are growing, aren't they! Glad to hear ya didn't loose the truck! Isn't it amazing when you feel the Lord's presence!

Not sure what that symptom is, i wouldn't worry too much, keep an eye on it. You should be fine putting the plants in now. Time is really REALLY running short. It gets cold there, and I'm at your same latitude. They need to push it now to begin flowering in a week or 2! Ask any outdoor grower... Wish ya best of luck. Gonna hang around for this one! Thanks for sharing!

Pipeline: You're right about the lords presence for sure. He stopped it in it's tracks. As far as the flowering in a week or two. Not a chance of that. Light doesn't go below 12 hours here until sometime in Sept. So the veg is gonna keep on rolling for another 2 months at least. It's not gonna be cold here until sometime in Dec. Played golf here on Dec 8th last year and it was 75.

Very nice grow so far, But pipeline is correct. Those coming from a indoor back ground always think in terms of 12/12. Most strains will begin to flower before 12 hrs of light is reached outdoors. Also I think your frost will come long before December in Colorado. In fact I just looked depending where in Colorado Frost will come by mid October.
So really late start for you. But the good news is you will be dialed in for next season.
Best of luck and may all your buds be huge

I'm just kinda curious why they aren't in they're final pots yet? Here in SoCO I have some that are starting to set bud

I'm as far south as you can get in Colorado. It's a desert environment. You are right about the frost I didn't think about the first frost so I checked it out. Last year the first frost hit here on Nov 2nd. You're also right about a late start. However, I honestly believe I have longer than you guys think. Not as long as I would like because of the late start of course. As far as the light goes, the sun is coming up around 4:30 and doesn't get dark until about 9. I really think I have more time than you guys think. I hope you're wrong anyway, lol. Like you said though, I'll be dialed in for next year for sure. Hell, I may start them in Jan, lol. Other guys from this area say I'm in the best spot for a nice long season. Either way,we'll see soon enough. When it's all over, free buds for those who replied and helped, lol. Thanks for the input, but I hope you're all wrong, lol. And if it does hit early this year in Oct, that's still 4 more months of growing time, they'll be monsters by then.

Got a late start and the super soil is still "cooking". I'm just being cautious I guess. They are doing fine in the 5 gallon buckets now and when I transplant, I'll just cut away the bucket so it's stress free. So small pot or big pot doesn't matter for now. Or does it? Am I missing something?

sub a dub dub..... looks like you are southern co? when do you think you'll harvest?

i am co outdoor first grow as well. I just went out last week. with 1ft teens, roots soil, 30g smart pots..... Trying to work on building my " enclosed and locked " area.

I'd like to log... even though i am trying to stay compliant I am paranoid about posting pics and logging. Classically conditioned I suppose.

how long has the soil been cooking? Are you cooking it in the pots you made? Have you checked the temp on it?

I was shocked to see the difference it makes. The plants I put directly in the ground on May 25 are at least twice as big as the ones I've keep in pots waiting to sex. Mind you mine are guerrilla and under lot's of stress, your ladies look like they are getting plenty of love.
Peace GG

I in no way want this to come across harsh but get those in there homes asap you're missing out on amazing growth by keeping those girls in the 5 gal pots so long, I skimmed thru the earlier pages so I'm not sure how long your mix has Been cooking for but if its any longer than 3 weeks i think your good, you think they have grown fast while in the 5's wait till you put them in the big pots its amazing.

I'm not sure if the seeds are sexed or if Ur running female seeds but if they are all girls id get them in the big pots now, they look beautiful don't hold them back any longer let them roots stretch brother. Depending on the strains Ur running even where Ur at in south Colorado they will start flowering anywhere from the first of August (maybe earlier) to almost the end of August if your lucky your locations daylight hours and strains will give you till the end of August until they start flowering. Which would be at least a good amount of veg time in the big pots if you put them in now, but I doubt it will happen that way they will prolly start budding around the first week of August but with a month of veg in the big smarties and stretch during flower you should still be able to kill it.

Get them transplanted!!!

They are female seeds and they go in the big pots today. In the process of setting up an indoor hydro room as well. So, next year i'll definitely be able to pull a big harvest. Do we have any guesses on yield from anyone out there?

Ready, set, grow! So after much sweating in the SoCo heat this morning they are in the big pots. Watering system is set up and they got some N via Urea this morning as my tests indicate they are really eating up the N right now, it was almost depleted as you can see in the pics. Which tells me two things. 1) They are using N in veg as they should be. 2) These soil testers are fairly accurate. So I'm happy! PH of soil looks to be fair as well so the next few weeks should be good for some fast growing. Here are the latest pics.
