You can definitely grow outdoors in colorado. It takes a little more pre planning, if you put them outside when their already flowering ( 1-2 weeks in) most strains that flower in 70 or less days will finish.

can anyone recommend a good filter that removes chlorine and chloramine?
hopefully one that can connect to a garden hose.

Reason you need instant filtration? 24hr sunbath removes chlorine... Or in a recent purchase of mine... DeChlore! Its fishtank dechlorinating agent. I dont see why it would or could harm plants; and it is instant! I would assume you could apply it diluted into a fertilizer/filter thinggy...

But i have a "Culligan Level 3 Under Sink" (http://www.waterfilters.net/Culligan-US-EZ-3-Water-Filter-System_p_0-433.html#tablist) filtration System. Removes tons of gunk, including chlorine. Usually around $64... i lucked out and picked up two for $2! Woot! Had a broken part i fixed; but all is fine and dandy! Plug the outlet right to a float and instant res topper! Not a direct fit to a garden hose; but can adapt to it...

Otherwise i recommend standard RO, or a UV/RO filtration. I want someone to buy one and try it cause i dont have the $295 for it... http://www.pureenergystore.com/servlet/the-8/edenpure-aqua-2000,-aqua/Detail I love the UV filter... to bad its a ... UV light and is bad for you... So why that chick has it on her counter is beyond me lawlz

For some people lettign it "sunbathe" is impractical. (When you need 100 gals to water). Also that MIGHT get rid of some of the chlorine but here in Colorado it is Chloramine that is in the water.

My advice Kelly, would be to get a smallboy brand water filter. These do a great job and I think would be the right size. They are 100 locally or cheaper on ebay. These might not filter everything out but easier to work with (and much better flow rate) than the RO filters. Been working for me for ages. My colorado tap water after going through it is about 7.1ph and I've forgotten the ppm.

hears some bubbalicious and royal hawiian we just finnished.:smokeit:

Those are real nice looking. My last grow mostly consisted of those same two strains. I wasn't all that thrilled with the Bubb, but the RH's were amazing! I wish I had clones still.

I have never heard of such a problem of Chloramine... Explain please? I know we have bad water (i lived in one of the worst for a min).. but chloramine is still a new one to me.

Impractical is in the eyes of the beholder. 100 Gal? 2 55 gal trashcans that just have to sit out is A LOT cheaper then RO or most other filters. IMO, its RO or nothing. The price of most filters is damn near that of RO... But thats just me

Or honestly; what i want to do is collect rain water... Seen a guy who had a awesome set up for it too..

I agree sparkey
I lived in the Caribbean for some time
EVERYONE there has cisterns.
Their houses are built so that the roof collects the water, and it travels thru built in pvc pipes down to the cistern.
You can either have it "chemically" treated, or you could have a rastaman come down for $20 and put some kind of organism inside that cleans the water.
All in all, its a GREAT idea, and Im not sure why every home in the US doesnt have one.
I even drank the untreated water from a cistern (even though I was advised NOT to) and NOTHING happened.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

EDIT

A couple of these

And a few of these

Throw some silk screen on the funnel lid and BLAMMO filtered untreated rainwater.

Chloramine is what they put put in water now instead of chlorine (in some cities).
Chloramine does evaporate out like chlorine though, so i think the only way to get it out is a filter.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chloramine

I think you said that wrong; i think you ment to say "doesnt". And it does; just takes about 7 times longer ;)

How can i test for it? I'd love to see how my filter does with it cause i plan on hooking this little filter up to do auto res topping when i get a better place to actually drill threw walls and such lol.

But you are totally right about RO... i HATE that fact. But this is why i want to get the Eden pure to try it out.... i'll have to see what its waste is...

I need to get some information from the growers in Colorado. I am considering a project to collect trimmings, and seeing if I can make something productive from them.. ie. tinctures, edibles.. etc..

With that in mind, I am wondering if growers would be interested in having someone come and haul away their trimmings?

What are you currently doing with your trimmings?
What would it take to make it of interest to you?
- just getting them hauled away would be helpful
- cleaning up your trim room
- helping to trim
- some nominal money

I'm hoping that just hauling them away would make it worth your while, but could consider other options.

From what I've picked up, a lot of growers just consider the trimmings as trash and just throw them away. This could be considered a form a "recycling".. or a "greener" way of dealing with the trimmings.

Please let me know if this would be of interest.. and what would be the best make to make contact.

Thanks!

Sketchy bro. :cop: I dont know who you talk to... Anyone i know saves it and uses for hash, edibles, ect... its not easy getting people to give it up. Not to mention thats sketch anyway; handing out trimmings to random dood from intarwebs.

ha, typo
thanks i edited it so it is right now.

i dont know that i have seen a filter that mentions chloramine,
i wonder if a regular filter that takes chlorine out will also take out chloramine.

you can search you citys website for the water quality report to see what they add to it.

Np. And i was meaning to test AFTER filtration. I usually do get a pamphlet from my water company; but that was prev location. Now i do need to pick up another one to see just how bad it is. But i wanted to run it threw a series of filters and then test to see whats comming out. I can test most anything else but chlorines/chloramines. But after a quick search... i see you can easily buy chlorine test kits... but as you stated; i wonder how similar they are. ... RESEARCH TIME! Lol... I'll post any findings tomorrow

Sparkey..

Thank you for your feedback. I'm just a new guy looking for creative ways to make some money as I get my grow room, and first grow up and running. Definitely not a cop... though I do understand the sketchy comment.

From some of the videos I've been watching, I got the sense that a lot of growers just dumped the trimmings... and as I said, one guy I ran into also thought that was the case.

Just thought I'd throw it out there..

I'm also interested in the chloramines issue.
