Having never done a side by side comparason between Hortilux and say a standard 1000W HPS, I can't say Hortilux are worth the price difference.

But when I look at the possibility of gaining even an additional ounce over 12 to 16 months,, seems to be goofy NOT to use them. (I'm reasonably confident there is more than 1 ounce improvement per light per flower cycle)

Then it could be like chrome exhaust on a hot-rod. 25% increase in psycological horse power.

My garden uses hortilux.

There was a couple crooks that tried to rob a dispensary in north Denver, - Long story short - The dispensary owner and his mom, (And his MOM! ROTFLMAO) (I know some of those mom's in that neighborhood - and a smart man would know better than to piss them off!) anyway they took the guns away from the crooks and - one of them (the crooks) got the crap beat out himself before the cops arrived. - He looked like he went a few rounds in a bar fight - and LOST!
Moral of that story - don't fuck with the stoners - now put a couple thousand like minded stoners together, safer than a baby in a cradle. - Oh excuse me,,, Med patients, not stoners.

The Hortilux bulbs are awesome with analog ballasts but they don't play so nice with digital ones. Plantmax is what I recommend for digi ballasts. Hortilux will always do better than a regular 1000w bulb because the light spectrum is a little tailored for plants but put it up against any other bulb made for growing plants and they are virtually the same.

I've been using Utrasun bulbs next to Hortalux, and they work great. It's the same technology, enhanced spectrum 1000hps, but it's made in china rather than US. The best part is they only cost $30 give or take a few $$$ for a 1000w hps bulb with a one year warranty.

The seeds are worth it, orpanic is just pissed because Rez told him
off when orpanic was trolling Dutchgrowns subforum here at IC. I think it was in the "Welcome Dutchgrown Seeds" thread. Regardless, as I said, Rezs stuff is worth the coin. Dutchgrown also has some nice new strains out as well.

There are better beans out there than Rez. I know from first hand experience.

I have grown out Sour Diesel IBL, Quick Mist Diesel, Gonzo #1, Gonzo #2, Double Strawberry Diesel, and Alpha Diesel. His shit is good, but too expensive. He is popular right now, and knows how to release seeds.

H3ad, Grindhouse, Karma, HTC, DJ Short; are all better breeders IMO, and charge about 60 percent of what Rez does. About 7 years ago, I was growing Blueberry and Blue Moonshine in a areoflo 20. To this day Blue Moonshine is the best shit I have ever smoked. DJ Short has been around since been pimpin.

I understand people love Rez, and he is a cool guy, but there are better buys out there. Available right now. For less money.........

I myself don't think there are any seeds worth more than 100 bucks. Hype is a huge part of this biz.

Thanks for the welcome, I probably won't be a frequent poster but I'm subscribed. Going shopping this evening for the makings for my box.

And for the reassurances. I grew up country but I've been a city boy for decades. Used to be nothing bothered me. Now I'm in my 60s and finding out why my old relatives were such worrywarts. (ain't heard that one in a while, have ya??)

Reading how serious you are all about growing and seeing all the quality bud you guys are growing makes me wonder where the dispensaries are getting their stuff. I'm almost a total noob to good bud but I've found not just odorless tasteless stuff that misses a good part of the experience no matter how potent it might be, but also a lot of poorly dried and cured bud ranging from crispy to wet. That lack of quality as much as price is what moved me to grow for myself.

I did! I waited up all night and snagged two packs of chemdog diesel, and one pack each of 4sd, chem4/chemd and chem DDD.

IME Rez's shit is top notch. I have grown other breeders and so far his is the best. Not to say their aren't better. I'm eyeing a pack of h3ad c99 x SourD that just might change my opinion when I get a chance to pop em.

Look at those taking seeds and making selections with them, those are the ones doing the REAL work. not a kid in spain that doesn't know the white from white widow.

100+ bucks AIN'T SHIT for some fire ass beans, IMHMFO. If buying them is gonna break you, don't buy em, more for the rest of us.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, on the bulb thing, I've been using Osram Plantastar's with my core and coil 600's, and I would rate them as superior to hortilux, with much more of the light in usable spectrums. The Plantastar bulbs are the first ones to be engineered from the ground up for growing. Hortilux wasn't even originally intended for plants. I'm not sure how they work in digi ballasts, no probs whatsoever in core and coil ballasts though.

I think just about everything runs better on digital ballsts. Including higher kelvin bulbs that require digital ballasts to fire... But in all honesty for reliability just stick with magnetic ballasts! That's where it's at!

is it high plant counts or just 1 or 2 of each plant?

i was hoping to trade some of my harvest so i can get a variety and some feedback.

i didnt know the hortilux werent good with digital ballasts. maybe i will get another bulb on standby incase i have a problem.
