Plants have a genetically predetermined limit on how much they can produce, but you usually won't come near that limit indoors, so vegging by height, based on your room's height limit, is a good way to go. Some strains will stretch more than others in flower so you need to get a feel for that first before deciding which height to veg them to. Hope that helps a little.

I used to think that too, till I saw Heath pull 45 zips off one plant (critical mass aka big bud)/ indoors/ with 1800 watts.

Anybody doin the vertical thing?

Hey kelly
I usually veg for one month or less.

The sugar berry is capable of 4+ oz per plant under 1000w watts, so I would guess 60% of that for a 600w.

veg them to 3/4 the size you want the sugar to end up at and just let the alpha follow as it will end at about ideal height as well.

9 weeks, although I am still finishing my first run in hydro with the AD, So if there is latency in the flower time due to change in setup (soil vs hydro) I will let you know

just smoked some absolutley fire honey oil. Me and all my friends have been completely hooked on this shit and it sure is delicious

haha and recently I went to buy some cans of luciene butane from the tobacco shop and they told me I could only buy 2 10oz cans at a time. This was in boulder so I'm guessing that people have been going around and buying like 15 cans of butane at a time, which I guess won't be happening any longer

droool.

Can't you order cases of butane online?

I have a whole case of butane I bought 3 years ago, and still have all but 2 bottles. Once you perfect bubblebags, you will never go back

vert is the way to grow;) add a recirc dwc and watch out!
How about just plain ol FFOF soil in 5g buckets? I would veg to 18"-24" under 400w horizontal w/hood, and then flower under bare vertical. Thinking about doing one 1k in the center of 4 plants and testing it out.

Also, Do you have to rotate the plants 180 degrees every day or two? Do you want the vertical bulb to be parallel with or above the canopy? Do you need to use a specialty bulb designed specifically for vertical growing or will a standard eye hortilux super hps be sufficient?

Im sure soil would work fine...but with recirc dwc you get major oxygen to the root system which gives explosive growth. the vertical lighting is key because the light penetration gets the whole plant. way i would set it up is below..this way you wont need to rotate plants they are getting enough light from 3 sides. Btw I didn't come up with this..just following another well respected grower form another site.

x= light
o= plant

bulb should be parallel to plant...regular hps should do the trick..

Does anyone here collect pollen? I have no males, and only fem seeds left to sprout. Was thinking about putting out a few females this summer, and pollinating them. Just curious!

I'm going to be starting to do this here in the near future. My next blueberry grow I'll be forcing herm (colloidal silver method) and collect pollen off of it for my last 2 or 3 blueberries. I'll also be doing this on my next auto run which is going to be starting here in the next couple of days. First time using soil and I'm hoping for of 3 seeds at least 1 male and at least 1 female (last of my NYCD autos :wallbash: )

Eternal, let me know how that works out for you! I am just wanting to get some seeds of some decent crossses figured this would be a good way to start.

I just got my 2 400w CMH. now have a 600 and the 2 400's I move one of the 400's back and forth from the flower chamber into the veg. Those lights are truly astonishing! I already want to run solely CMH. You figure with the amount of usable light in comparison to an hps it is a no brainer. The plants instantly responded to the light. In less than a week I have seen massive growth increase. Post picts when I am not lazy. I too have been toyiing the idea of running vert, not sure my space will allow it though. anyone else growing in a crawl space?
Peace

taproots just popped from the 3 autos I dropped. Popped them into some rockcore plugs and into my cheapy homemade cloner / incubator. Should be ~ 20 days for sex on them after they are transplanted into soil (will be my first experience with soil, always done hydro before). So I'll probably just be doing filtered / PHd water on them throughout w/ Foxfarm Ocean something potting soil. 2 liter bottles for the pots lol. Should be plenty of space for them though, If they get root-bound I can transplant them into the hydro, I'd rather have them separate from the other "normals" though so I can do 20/4 or 18/6 with them rather than 12/12. I just got some godberry that I may be crossing back into a blueberry mom depending upon how i like the godberry. That'll be a future project though.

In other news, just picked up more lighting 150w hps and 2 more (for 4 more total) clamp lamps for 23w CFLs. HPS is sitting over my NYCD x (C99 x WW) that I just put under 12/12 5 days ago. And about 200w CFL on my Blueberry that will be finishing in the next couple weeks. I'm excited about the Blueberry, right now she smells like a lemon cake blueberry muffin.

Sounds awesome Eternal, sounds like you have a little more experience than I do. Then of course I have never tried pollinating. I think this summer if I am going to be around, it might be a nice experiment to try and get some seeds out of it.

Keep us posted.
