Sure self, lots of folks sell clones, and some dispensaries definitely do; but the risk of pests keeps this enterprise subdued. I'll never take a clone unless I know the person's garden reeeeeaaaal well. The worst thing i'd fear to catch is russet mites, and they are impossible to see during a clone exchange.

:yeahthats

the only way new strains get into my garden is from seed. the clone thing taught me more than i ever wanted to know about powdery mildew.

getting burned is not something i wanna do again and i don't want to set myself up so that i need to spray any chems if i can help it :2cents:

So many great beans out there; and I've never heard of a dispensary clone that didn't have pests with it, even after being dipped and sprayed with all sorts of chemical weirdness. I was lured to take a ghost go clone a year ago from someone running a half million dollar warehouse grow which I thought was clean. It looked perfect for weeks under 24 hour light, but as soon as 12/12 started, those russet mites hatched and took hold of her. I don't mess around with those fuckers, so I shut everything down for weeks and oxidized and bleached like a mad man!

I know this all too well guys. I tend to panic and over react, thus my knee jerk reaction last night. Should have known some great people I know would help out. Got er figured out already. Russets give me the shivers..

thanks for bringing me back to reality, I needed it!

Inch and a half of snow on the uncompaghre plateau, more in the mountains! Fingers crossed for a dump in the coming days.

Also, about the pest issue, I have rarely had problems during my indoor garden experience (not with mj mind you)...UNTIL I brought in plants not from seed that were grown in a garden that I wasn't familiar with. APHIDS are taking over my house, I cant sleep, I cant cook, they are approximately 3 feet deep on the floor and I can barely wade through them. Buyer beware!

spinosad is an effective treatment for aphids and organic, i think it's a kind of fungi, and therefore safe to use even in flower.

not only that it is cheap and readily available in many different products some of which are available at any Home Depot, Lowes or any decent garden shop.

...here's a link if you'd like to have it delivered.

btw, i also have had aphids hitch a ride into my garden on the underbellies of gifted clones and for me the spinosad worked extremely well, if i remember correctly i only needed to spray 4 or 5 times to completely rid my garden of these nasty little shits, lol.

I've for the most part given up on trading clones. I've had a pretty royal list of elites come and go, and have been grateful for them, however not without troubles. I've managed to slim my selection to just a few genetics. I didn't take in any new genetics all summer and fall and have been free of mildew, pests, and most importantly, the dreaded systemic chemicals. Knock on wood, I should be safe to not spray anything until at least March/April, when the critters outside return!

Too much fucking disease still out there.
Finally learned how to tell sex early from Pinecone's thread.

Beans only for me from here on out, clones only come from close friends and get quarantined/de-loused.

hi how are you?

hi how are you?

Fellow Colorado grower checking in!

I lurked for a while soaking up info, and I've just created a journal (in my sig) to document my hobby grow after maybe 7 grows and 2 years time of messing around in my basement.

This thread is huge. And I figure another post here wouldn't hurt!

See you around! :cathug:

I haven't had much of a problem taking in clones from dispensaries, but I don't trust them at all.

They'll lie out the ass to sell the clone, so ignore anything they say about sprays and dips, as soon as the clone is in your selected medium and growing, put it onto an aggressive pesticide program (I prefer Floramite for incoming new plants, strong and long lasting, followed up with Azamax at regular intervals) and don't let up until the plant displays nothing but healthy growth.

I recently took over heavily infested warehouse, and now it's virutally mite free thanks to diligent spraying.

When spraying, don't get lazy and miss a plant, don't get lazy and miss an application, and you'll avoid the vast majority of pest problems.

Oh yeah, this seems like common sense, but i've literally had to drill it into the heads of every one of my apprentices over the years, so...

DO NOT SPRAY WITH THE LIGHTS ON, AND DO NOT TURN THE LIGHTS BACK ON FOR AT LEAST 3 HOURS AFTER THE APPLICATION OF ANY SPRAYING, WHETHER FOLIAR OR PESTICIDE. Not only will this burn your plants, it will decrease the effectiveness of your chosen pesticide.

Speaking of warehouses. Heard from a friend that some local dispensaries are under the table selling LBs for 1800, a la 64. Still not legal, but not like most dispensary owners are straight shooters. The quality is competitive, granted its not the loving caring chemical-free small batch stuff, but this will skew the market regardless.

Thanks for the advice, guess I never really thought twice about this, know several friends doing the opposite and always am looking for ways to increase their growing potentials.

I've noticed that spraying NEEM with the lights on doesn't seem to matter, however, anything else would burn the shit out of my girls.

Mostly, I try to spray lights off just because I'm not running enclosed bulbs, and the risk of a droplet hitting a bulb and popping it in my face is just too damned high!!!!!

false.

try reducing your concentration.

the risk is zero. HID bulbs do not explode because of water being misted out of a hand powered sprayer.

Greetings from the pacific northwest! I like you guys a lot, have always appreciated places like CO that focus on quality over quantity and don't pop up bunk access points on every corner like a cyst infested asscheeck.
Don't mean to derail the topic in any way, but the spraying conversation going on here interests and pertains to me, something I've been wondering about; I'd like to see this elaborated on more maybe

I spray my room's floors and walls down every night with water and I run open bulbs. Never had a bulb bust on me. I turn my lights off to foliar feed, come back 45 minutes later and rinse with clean water, and turn my lights back on immediately after, never had anything burn. However, I'm not spraying neem, or anything oily or any pesticides for that matter. People need to get their plant pests and diseases in check before even going into flower.

I've heard from others that DM Reverse works, but IMO, nothing works better on a group of herming plants than some tweezers and fingernails.
