Colorado Growers Thread

Hilarious when you see people who are in a subset that is normally judged(i.e. growers), judging others. Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...

That sucks that Odells is supporting that shiz, fuck them. I don't drink beer very often anyway, Crown Royal (any of it's variants, from the regular to the 200 a bottle stuff) is my drink of choice when I drink. Which is once in a blue moon anymore. So yeah, they won't get any of my biz, and I'll make sure I let all my beer drinking buddies to fuck them off, much better beer to be had anyway...

Speaking of running stinky stuff inside, anyone ever used Dark Energy? Years ago when it came out, I used some in both my soil and Bio-Buckets. The soil wasn't too terribly bad, it absorbed the stink somewhat, but the Bio-Buckets! OMG! My entire basement (which is not small) REEKED like the unwashed backside of a 2 dollar, 3 day dead gutter whore! The waterfall, which is integral to the Bio-Bucket design for both aeration and water cooling, made it really spread out quickly and badly. NEVER again....

I do use a product from the same company, a super concentrated kelp additive called Supernova, great stuff, and it doesn't stink.

I grew up in foco drinking fat tire ( always thinking it was our tiny little micro-brew secret)and when I did some traveling a little later in life I realized they had become this huge beer company with a giant reputation......

Happens anywhere you travel where people drink beer.

They did start small though... The owner of n.b.'s wife used to deliver the fatty t in a station wagon to the stores on the west side of town with their phone number written on the six packs so you could call them when you wanted more. Even still they are a legit company when it comes to ethics ( employees, environment.......and their beer is the shit.

NB is some good beer,.... their "SunShine Wheat" is one of the few wheat beers I actually like!

Overall tho I like the Avery lineup more than any other local brewery. Avery IPA is a staple on tap in my garage, and when I get my 2nd line back up and running, I'll keep either the brown or the stout on tap...... Unless I can get the New World Porter!

FYI - Odell brewing is the one microbrewer in Colorado who's supporting TEAM Fort Collins (the FoCo-based non-profit that just petitioned to add a law banning MMCs/restricting patient acces to the November ballot here in Fort Collins) - Coors and Anheiser Busch are involved as well, but we expect that from the big boys - boycott Odells! Spread the word!

Before you boycott.. Another guy emailed Odell in response to this and here is what they replied with

Thank you for your email and thank you for your support over the last six years. We do not support TEAM’s political agenda regarding MMD and we have made our stance clear to them. We no longer serve on their board.
We feel the work they do to educate our community’s families and adolescents on illegal substance and alcohol abuse is worthy and necessary, however their attack on the legal use of medical marijuana and the dispensaries it is sold in is not a fight we support in any way.
If you still feel you need to boycott our company, you need to do what is right for you and yours.
We really do appreciate your voice and thank you for contacting us and allowing us the chance to be heard.

this is what I used for the vegetable containers in the back yard
a local buddy of mine uses this for his medical grow with excellent results so I figured I'd give it a try for the tomatoes, etc
Keeping my plant soil for the girls

I used to drink Fat Tire until they priced themselves out of my cooler
Switched to Molson Canadian, the beer of my youth
It's about $8 a twelve pack cheaper

Taking some clean clones to a buddy today
who ends up with bugs every time he gets clones from a dispensary
Going to teach him to clone while I'm there
eliminating the need to buy buggy clones

A guy who moved in down the block works there
and told me he would turn me onto a couple cases of the IPA
when I mentioned never having trying it
The company let him use a couple of their beer trucks to move

Yah - I actually saw that - which is SUPER awesome to hear from them... I still think it's clutch to put the pressure on them so they pass it up the chain (sucks they're stuck in the middle--they're just one of about 19 organizations that are feeding the cash to this group who's gonna try to buy enough ad-space & air-time to convince people to shut down MMCs, and we're working on a heavy email campaign before any boycotting/picketing is considered)

Don't get me wrong, Colorado microbrews are a good thing, and they hands-down beat any mass-produced beer from Coors, Anheiser-Busch, Miller, etc. But they don't hold a flame to a real GERMAN beer, and I'm not talking Becks. Not just my own observation, either...

And the flavored beers are a sacrilege to be honest...pumpkin spice beer? strawberry beer? Why don't you just master a real good Pils or Lager first, instead of covering up the flavor with something you are adding that takes away from the barley and hops? Real german beer drinkers see American microbrews as a joke...

ehhh. talking with a guy who worked for a belgian brewery. He said tht American Brewers are doing amazing things with beers and brewing. And as far as the flavored beers.... what about kreiks? or Siason? Belgian, german brewers do flavored beers too. or maybe we can get a really mirco brew from florida. oh wait Mr Buffet is working for Busch....
And should we take what dutch smokers think about us with more than a grain of salt?

1) Yes, european brewers are happy to see Americans actually developing a proper pallet for good beer after years of corporate domination.

2) Ask any real German, Belgian beer is a joke in all of Europe. In Germany, yes they make flavored beers. Its something for the kids to drink instead of cheap American soda. Don't believe me, go to Germany, I've been in and out of that country since I was born! The only reason Colorado has such a strong beer culture is because of all the descendants of German settlers that came to Colorado in the late 1890s and early 1900s. Thats how my family got to Colorado in the first place, over 100 years ago. In fact the only reason I am making this argument is because my aunt was here for 2 months from Germany and I took her around to taste as many different Colorado micro-brews as possible and she was never that impressed. She was satisfied with a few, but all the flavored beers were nothing but disgusting to her, and all the bitter ass IPAs. Most of the Colorado microbrews are modeled after Belgian or British beers. Germans don't like IPAs and never will, its not part of the culture.

3) Florida had a big micro-brew movement in the late 90s but it was quickly shut down due to government regulation and corporate beer lobbyists. Busch owns Florida, hence Busch gardens, etc. Colorado is 100% undeniably the best state in the country for beer, but most of the microbrews IN THIS COUNTRY still have A LOT to learn. Just sayin'...

maybe it does not exist.
Ill travel as far as denver but anymore im hurting to find a ride.
ive found lots of neat bugs and pm and a few decent plants, no keepers yet tho.

Best cut's I've come across have had thrips at least! Thrips are easy at least..... got one that was PM,.... but dealt with it too......


Had a couple that were full of SpiderMites........ Cant find one of those fuckers in my garden now tho...... (couldn't before, and the problem was only on the cuts that had eggs on them!.... Fun scare none the less! )




You can find some gems if your willing to actually deal with and prevent a problem from spreading!!!!!

I wish there were such a thing as problem free cuts from a dispensary - when you got an open room that tons of patients are walking through, it's just not gonna happen... Your best bet is to get cuts from a trusted friend, or grow from seed. PM me if you have any questions

Any cut from anyone has the possibility of being tainted. Just like any seed you buy could turn out to be a dud. I have found a couple decent cuts at centers but mostly at smaller places or places when they first open up. I know someone who found what seems to be a legit SFV cut for $10 and had no problems.

303Hydro: absolute true - any cut from anywhere can be tainted - but just due to the sheer number of people who get around them, the clones in dispensaries are particularly susceptible.

You raise a fair point, though - it's a crapshoot. I got a Dr. Greenthumb's S1 Ghost OG off of Denver Craigslist and she was totally clean and continues to blow my mind with how resiny her buds feel (unfortunately not quite the same as the original Ghost cut; must have lost the sour stank in recessive genes during the self). On the other hand, I got some Flo clones off a dispensary shelf and they're super wispy and nute-hoggish.

I guess in general with clones, you never know, so be cautious and quarantine if you can.

Very true! What upsets me more than the risk of an infected clone is a misslabled or hermie clone.
