Also some good friends of mine where just raided. They (husband & wife) had 20 plant rec's. The cops basically took their 14 and 9 year olds, put the wife in jail and told the husband to get rid of the extra plants (witch he did). The wife after 2 days is now out on bond and they are promising their harvest to another friend in exchange for paying legal fees to try and get the kids back. It's not a good situation.

No shit? They were busted for their edible rec? Were they grossly over in numbers or were they just doing the 20 per patient for a total of 40. Care to share what county?

that's the first I've heard of edible recs not holding any water on a first hand basis.

I wish them luck, they shouldn't be in any trouble at all it sounds like. Sucks.

First off let me say thats too bad I hope everything gets better and they get their kids back.

I want to send a big shout out to PACO for breeding this KCxWW and Self for contributing the WW. A little info I picked up a pack of beans from D9 and I live about 2 hours away. I got home and my partner threw them away. I was sad to say the least. Anyway I saw the KC#3 pic and love me some willies so I went back up a few days later and boy oh boy am I glad 100% germ rate and all sprouted very quickly. I geminated them on sat and all but two have shed the casing and are 2-3 inches tall. Best seed purchase ever fresh fast I love it.

Thanks Again

Extra plant counts are still "Justifiable defense" You can count on being harassed to the max.
6 plants - no more than 3 in flower

I see it as a bright spot, he was directed to loose the excess instead of being charged with manufacturing. Having the family split up is unacceptable - even short term. Kids in grow areas is clearly becoming a focus and a rallying point, I suspect a single plant grow will still get refered to Child Services. Be aware. -

There was a directive to accept the higher counts, that apparently is not what the police want to hear.

City's will start deciding between MMJ taxes or MMJ fines - and after all,, money is money

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. ya know,,, -- A good lawyer might want to pursue compensation for the lost plants. Since when did police become better qualified to overule a Doctor and patient??? And the Health Dept? - who is the regulator of MMJ laws - not the police. - If city's have to start writing checks for wrecked grows; that might take the fun out of it.

some of us growers have very sick patients who depend on us to provide top quality medicine at a very affordable price. It's unfortunate some people just don't give a shit about others

I just do what I can for me and mine. the way these shop owners and the lawyers and the matt brown dude, moved the entire industry into the hands of a small few. All of the shops that had good medicine, are scraping by with the little they can get that is one step above swag. I knew that if these politicians put anyone but the Dept of Ag in charge, we small farmers would be screwed. And what did they do? What did they get? and us? we have lost out plant counts kicked patients to the curb lost our shops.
For having empathy...
I hear you man.

Can anyone tell me if the elevation here in Colorado will affect my yield off OH deathstar. i have heard of a few strains not doing as well in higher elevations.

Shouldn't affect yield one bit, I'd look to other enviromental factors if the medium/nutrients/schedule/lighting hasn't changed and you still experience loss of yield.

No skywalker here just a XXX OG. This Skywalker is the latest and greatest? The XXX will carry blue hues on the sugar leaves. Truly a winner. We will see what she does in flower, poor yield from what I hear.

6 plants was the max anyway according to NORML:

Patients (or their primary caregivers) may legally possess no more than two ounces of usable marijuana, and may cultivate no more than six marijuana plants. The law establishes a confidential state-run patient registry that issues identification cards to qualifying patients. Patients who do not join the registry or possess greater amounts of marijuana than allowed by law may argue the "affirmative defense of medical necessity" if they are arrested on marijuana charges.

How has it changed?

Thanks

Did any of you hear about the law that passed last night about eliminating caregivers from Denver? From what I understand, you are only allowed to grow your own SIX plants, and if you have a roommate, they can grow only their own SIX plants, therefore a total of only 12 plants are allowed now per household in Denver

Been looking for a home to purchase in Denver for a few months now. Fuck that. Good thing we never pulled the trigger and purchased one...

Lots of awesome posts here. Woot.

6 plants is no longer the basis. Granted, police will harrass anything or anyone they can but HB1284 offers an affirmative defense for more so long as the doctor recommends it. And the doctor, because of Health Association law, has to testify if called to defend their position and their recomendation. Hell, according to statute, they dan't touch a plant unless it is proved that your operation is illegal and lawyers can and SHOULD persue compensation if the plants are taken or damaged. :)

As for the Skywalker, what exactly does OG mean? I mean, I heard it's Ocean Grown (original gangsta!) but what is so good about it? I have some Skywalkers coming up, too! haha.

Elevation won't effect yield but it can put selection pressure on a seedlot. Elevation does a lot of good things for cannabis, but it can do damage to genotypes not "fit" for it. I've noticed it happens in about 1 of 100 or so seedlings.

Denver City Council Eliminates Private Cannabis Caregivers Within City Limits
By Tim Martin, Cannabis Culture - Tuesday, October 26 2010

CANNABIS CULTURE - In an expected action the Denver City Council has dealt a crushing blow to private medical cannabis caregivers and passed regulation making private caregiver operations all but obsolete within the city.

In a vote Monday night of 12-1 Council members adopted a measure to limit households within the city to just twelve plants total, and only two patients per home who must also live in the household.

Despite a new State law and regulation under HB 1284 allowing for up to 30 plants with a five patient limit per private caregiver, Denver City Council members saw fit to tighten those regulations more within Denver.

The law effectively eliminates private caregivers from growing cannabis for anyone but themselves and another person in the household. Each of the possible two patients per home are allowed six plants a piece and cannot caregive for anyone outside the home. Violations of the regulation would face tough fines and possible prosecution if inspections of a home revealed gross violations or lack of continued compliance. It’s not clear how the law will be enforced.

Most of the almost two hour public comment hearing was spent with council members commenting on their personal beliefs why the measure was proper to implement.

Councilman Charlie Brown commented, saying “..if Medical marijuana people (proponents) had cooperated would we be here (making this legislation)?”

Another Councilwoman commented to citizens in the hearing that had voiced concerns of foot traffic in and out of caregivers homes near them asking them, “Do these people look like they have a debilitating illness?”.

Patients complained in and out of the hearing that not everyone has the ability to grow cannabis and the rules would limit access to those who need the more personalized services a private caregiver could offer.

New patients under ongoing formation of HB 1284 regulations are not allowed to visit medical marijuana centers within 35 days of obtaining a signed recommendation. The rule stems from wording in Colorado Amendment 20 that allows the State Health Department to reject a medical MJ application within 35 days of recommendation. Private caregivers would be the ones to fill the void of time in which patients would be rejected by medical marijuana centers.

During the hearing Denver City Council also heard from a few residents for the strict regulation and one man who stated his neighbor was growing over 60 plants and with a new born child on the way he didn’t feel his safety or his new born child’s safety were secured with having a “large” cannabis operation next door. Council members used a few small situations like this throughout their comments as reasons why the law needed to be supported.

The Denver City Council also adopted wording as part of the law that will make them revisit the regulation in two years to see if the rules are working with the city and its neighborhoods.

The new Denver regulation could face a tough challenge in court though. Boulder, Colorado resident and Medical Marijuana patient Jason Lauve was acquitted last year of felony possession charges in a jury trial, despite the fact he had 35 ounces or 17 times the amount of suggested medical marijuana listed for personal use in Colorado’s Amendment 20. Lauve was injured in an accident in 2004 at Eldora Ski Resort and says he mixes smoking and using concentrates daily to control pain better than any pain management tool he has come across. His case is important because part of Colorado’s Medical Marijuana law allows patients in court to use an “affirmative defense”, allowing themselves and their doctors the decision on an appropriate amount of cannabis to posses in managing care, also allowing more than the suggested 2 ounces and 6 plants listed in Amendment 20. Jason Lauve’s acquittal reaffirmed this right in court.

The Denver City Council addressed the issue of Court challenge and constitutionality with its city attorney stating courts recently have decided on the side of regulation and have not favored medical marijuana advocates, and the city should feel confident in litigating any issues that rise from the new law.

9 people testified at the public comment Hearing. 5 against the regulation, and 4 in favor of it.
