Dubi and others, who do you think would do best in my climate? Laos Luang Prabang or Guatemala?

Hi ValleyKush,

Laotian is too tropical to finish correctly at your latitude, you will need a greenhouse to mature the plants correctly. Guatemala is a better choice for your location, although my main recommendations are the ones i commented in the previous post.

Thanks dubi. I have a greenhouse and am just looking for the most cold and wet resistance to pass on to future generations. For now I will be getting panama, guatemala, zamaladelica, congo and one of the purple haze crosses. Too bad I have to order zamal reg and congo reg from the tude ): oh well, the rest will be threw the ace site. Which of the thai, malawi and panama haze crosses would you recommend to pass down wet and cold resistance?

pure zamal is very very mold resistant (open grapes of flowers) and some phenos begin to flower after three months of vegetative growth even if the day light is on 12-14 hours no more (this autoflowering character is not the same than ruderalis).

Hola ValleyKush,

I would recommend Nanda Devi by The Real Seed Company, it is a sativa from the Himalayan mountains that can handle high winds, cold nignts and heavy rains. They also have other charas strains that may fit the bill for you, and worth you checking them out:)

Hey guys back with some more questions. I live in the wonderful Pacific North West at about 48 N and it rains a lot here (the only temperate rain forest in North America) and the first frost is November 1-10.

I have some great outdoor genetics for a reliable harvest from ace (bangi and nepjam) and hybrids from hell but I want to try to acclimatize some pure sativas. This will be a life long breeding endeavor to create a temperate rain forest "landrace" sativa. That being said, obviously the genetics I start with are important considering I want to work with them as long as I physically can. I have a greenhouse which I will take them into on extra cold and stormy nights or days, but I want them to experience the weather as much as possible (while still letting them mature) in order to let the future generations prepare for some serious downpours.

So who can handle the wet and cold the best? My first picks seem to be the Purple Haze, PH x Thai, Zamaladelica, Malawi, Guatemala, Laos Luang Prabang and Thai Stick. As these seem to have the strongest resistance to bud rot and cold. This isn't really about practicality, more of an experiment, but still would like some advice as to who would best handle such an unfavorable climate. If after 10 or so years I can't seem to find what I am looking for I may throw some quicker flowering sativas in but for now I'm going to try to push these genetics and see how they adapt. :dance013:
Thanks for looking and happy new year :tiphat:

valley kush,
You might also consider "back to the Congo"
From Ace's limited editions,
We bred that at just shy of 49 d. latitude
Here on Vancouver island.

mukuku- I have never heard this. Sounds like a quite the desirable trait in a long flowering sativa, I wonder if it passes onto zamaladelica ever?

RC- Thanks for the heads up, sounds very interesting indeed, too bad I couldn't find a whole lot of info on it.

RW- I have been looking into it and it sounds quite nice, I may have to give it a go!

Hey all. Little bit of an update- I have 4 panama girls and one beautiful, super thin boy(my favorite), a super bushy tikal with 2 boys that dont intrest me as much, 2 voileta and 2 phenos of bangi outside from ace, as well as 3 malawis that are in my grow tent but get put outside almost everyday- I had my nepjams in pots and a bear came and ripped them up looking for fish or neem meal :( .

I also have some bodhi genetics- some jamacan x aruba, swazi x aruba, lao wild giant mountain hashplant and wild ghandaruk (sp?) Nepalese giant hashplant. The 2 wilds are the most vigourus plants I have ever grown, bodhi says they can easily reach 20ft and I cam see how all mine would be if not for the 3 gal pots to help them flower faster.

Here is a pic of a lao boy that was black boxed early july so that it could pollenate my malawis, hfh- leb27s, danish wildsuper07, dutch gold, hp2, jahruba and oregongreenseed- ogog [(ghost og x iran auto) x bc blueberry sativa] x (ghost og x iranian auto). All of the pollen took and seeds should be ready any day now.:dance013:
He absolutly loved the rain and hated the otherwise hot, sunnny dry summer we have been having. All of the laos ended up being put in spots that got good shade in the middle of the day because they were getting fried in this years unusualy strong sun, these plants are probly used to busting out of 20 ft of jungle bush before getting much sun:laughing:.

A few more pics in my album for those interested.
