Glad to help ya out. My only request is that ya repay the kindness by helping someone else down the road.

Didn't see it mentioned how ya plan to light up this room. Watts? Flat or vert? do ya have a seperate veg area, or is this it? I think that ya would do well with a single 1k hung bare vertically in the center and do a "weed donut".

Ideally ya want to exchange all grow room air 2x per min. With about 200 cu ft, this means after filter losses, ya prolly won't be able to slow the fan much.

Think I saw ya say that ya wanted to put the filter in the attic to save space? This mean ya are planning on having the filter at the end of the exhaust run? If so, ya would be better off to flip that plan around and hang the filter from the ceiling in the room, and elbow off the filter thru the ceiling. Then put the fan in the attic.

If ya have not seen this guy's exhaust set up https://www.icmag.com/ic/member.php?u=5589
ya should take a look.

A couple other things to concider are:

First, did ya know that roof deck temps often reach 170 degrees on a 90 degree day in the full sun? That's why it gets so damn hot in the attic. Once ya break the "thermal envelope" of the home, you could have issues radiating some of this heat into the grow.

Next, there is one more concequence to having the home in a neg air preasure situation. pests that float in on the air flow from outside the home. Wife like roses in the flower beds outside? So do spider mites.

I know that lots of guys vent into their attics and don't have any problems. I'm just not a big fan. But hey, if ya gotsta, ya gotsta.

Rest assured the good vibes are excessively released. Its nice to get them back :)

I got two 600 Watter's both cool tubes with "hoods". Was going to have one above each tray.

Was ganna do two 2x4 trays in the room, wasn't going to pack it up full like last time where I couldn't even move in there without destroying something.

A 4x4 tray costs more than two 2x4s and would really limit my space.

I plan on evolving and maximizing potential/efficiency over time, so nothing is set in stone, unless I make a 6 inch gaping hole in the ceiling ^_^that I would have to fix if not in use.

Need the Fan to cool the cooltubes. The filter is heavy and bulky, but cheaper to replace than a fan. I'd save space in the grow room and keep my good equipment in ideal conditions.
I'll be ducting up the cool tubes with the fan/filter so thats why I was gong to put the filter in the attic. Fan in the room, and duct it all up, and not worry :) The exhaust would be running 24/7

Going to have a damper in case and eventually will create a fail safe with a thermostat bla bla

I could re route the exhaust out the roof, or I could re route it into to hvac system but would require an inline filter. I can't have the attic stanky cause all that smell will flood over and out the house :(
And I don't wanna get a new filter, as mine is only 2 months old.

Idk, I could not do any of this, and just re route the duct out the top of the closet door, with the intake at the bottom of the door like last time. But then im exhausting into my room w/ the A/C But with the exhaust in the attic I might have an A/C that can keep up?

So confusing! :(

appreciate the love :thank you:

RM - cooling cost is all out-of-pocket for me with a window mounted a/c unit. And I know theres no way the landlord is going to let me punch a hole in 2 year new roof. They don't know about the hole in the ceiling... yet. They might never know - Ill have that patched up better than new.

So many options LC. I do agree that your closet has a inherent vertiness to it. You can hang a plant on the door!

Dude, you should just make that hole in the roof. Just say it was there hahahaha if you don't mind picking up the expense/doing work.

So torn between what to do.

I'm going to take pictures for Aqua and MG and show them the attic and see if we can devise a grander scheme!

If they would let me, I would. Got a few roofer friends, a couple even specialize in cut-throughs. Bet I could get the work in trade too ;)

Hahaha! Just when you think you've got it all figured out, eh? 1001 ways to grow weed.

Lyry, how many btu's is that window shaker ya got? Can it handle the load created by your lights? Maybe your best bet would be to just to go back thru the door for a run or 2, then upgrade to the duel exhaust when funds allow?

Wait a min. Your HVAC is in the attic? Well, there ya go. Ya don't really need an inline to go there. All ya gotta do is build ya an air-tight box around your standard filter and tie it in.

My set up is a little bigger than yours, but that's what I did. I'm using 2-6x7 rooms (flipped)and wanted to exhaust them both rooms with 1 fan/filter combo. I ran hard metal duct (less resistance) from each room to an air-tight box that houses a 12x39 phresh filter. The box is built out of 2x2 and skinned with 1/8". The flange sticks out of the box. A 12" vortex attaches to the flange, and blows the heated air into the cold air return of my HVAC system. This disburses the heat throughout the home. The additional heat lowers my gas bill.

It cost me a few extra bucks in duct work, and a lot of extra build time, to do it this way, but the system runs very quiet and performs well. Cry once and be done with it was my thinking.

Ya got lots of options, it's just finding the one that works best for your current situation.

WG, ya should tell the landlord the lifetime warrenty he got with that brand new roof will be void if the shingles were installed over a under-ventilated roof deck and it is in his best interests to let ya install that power fan.

Okay, I'm losing focus on the house lol.

I have only an ounce of Cush left and probably not even a gram of oil but nothing growing!!!!

Turbo mode this month, should have seeds popping this weekend.

great, my post didn't go through, fucking life right now, its kicking my ass heels over head guys... fuck it, lol like Kat Williams would say, you need some fuck it in yo life, smoke some weed hahaha

I have a 5200 BTU rated window banger. My last run that thing handled shit like a beast! Honestly why I was so confident in my second light purchase. I could of kept it at 75 the whole time if I wasn't such a dumbass and running lights during the day... took me the end of the 1st run to figure that one out, even with homies coming thru with the love. But yeah the heat during the day from the sun would require more cooling so it would be running on 71 and a lot. The inside of hte grow room would be 75 on average but would range in the 70s only hit 80 on those freak 100+ days but 81 was the highest, just can't lie and say was only in 70s ^_^

Let me confirm the heating ducting slices into the attic. I just glanced in there to see the condition and potential. Want to maybe grow up there but fuck its dark like a virgins poo shooter up there haha

I like that box idea, I love working with my hands and the cost ratio of an inline vs some wood and duct is good to me, shit I probably have 60% of it around here some where :) but thats hoping the heating does take a peek into the attic. Man that would be ideal. +Rep for that awesome idea

I'll have pictures of the attic tomorrow for you guys, don't get too excited. The attic exhaust project is not going to happen for a while.

But do get excited because Shelves are coming down and paint is going up tomorrow!

some 2x4s, few planks, some muscle and screws and the lights/screen will have real support, not some drywall bullshit holding it up. wish I had power tools, and I need a stud finder grrrr

I'll be reusing the door ventilation setup and I will be running the lights and everything to monitor temps and maybe adjust things.
I want to get an idea how much heat is produced by the lamps and if the ambient temperatures allow me to use both w/o the a/c because I know I can use one w/o the a/c during the nights now, shit its cold as fuck to me, turned into the california pussy when it comes to cold, 65 is fucking cold hahahaha and im from CT where it was below freezing for a good 4th of the year wooohhh off topic. right now its 55 outside so with the window open, no fucking problem.

I have one more ordeal to sort out. How to mount the panda film as a floor covering. I got a 10x10 sheet and its 6mm.

I wanted to velcro it to the sides of the room at first. But instead ima build a frame to sit inside the trim and wrap the panda underneath and back over to make a tub of sorts but I'm not sure on the best way to mount it. Tacs? Velcro? If I hear duct tape, you forgot mylar and thats a definite no, need something more permanent/versatile. Staples? Nails? Glue? I'm leaning towards something with the ability for me to rework it with new panda film if the original is compromised.

:thank you:

lots of fun :)

Since the attic is on hold, ive been busy with everything else.

Check out this morphling weird seed, idk wtf is up with it lol.

Look what I found with the indoor garden expo samples ^_^

I just started germinating 10 seeds. paper towel method, hope they are warm enough, its like 68 here and im not providing heat.

going to get my 2x4s and install them then take down shelving and fix up the walls.

paint after that, then panda film frame and panda film floor.

Lets see how these seeds do.

Whats a good way of reusing this lights wiring with the switch on the wall to maybe use as an external switch for things?

Going to seal that hole or use it as mentioned. Not sure yet or how.

Going to seal that hole or use it as mentioned. Not sure yet or how.

How are you planning on getting power to this room? New circuit?

That light is probably just extended from a (15a?) curcuit powering the bed room. 2-600 watters pull 10 amps @ 120v. Add in fans, AC, and anything else being used in the bedroom, and well .....

Running a new 20a circuit accross the attic isn't too difficult. Probably cost ya $50-$75 for the materials, and a couple hours to do.

A/c and one 600 on one circuit, Fan/dehuey other 600 on a different circuit.

I used to run, everything on one circuit, never tripped it and it handles the kitchen too.

The electrical setup will be an improvement i will bring up to an electrician friend of mine who's stopping by next month when he's free for hte first time during the day...

But I

bought 2x3's 2x4s would of been overkill and a lot heavier :)

made the panda film frame.

first coat of flat white on walls down.

need last coat on the ceiling.

need 2:
paint the door and trim.

make tray tables.

buy hooks to hang shit

and patience, stupid work :p

looks like no lights, or equipment up tonight, maybe tomorrow

Too many things to juggle today, thought it would be smooth sailing.

Making progress.

I like the 2x3's too. And they are a buck cheaper each. Plenty strong for building walls.

Another suggestion is to take a look in the panneling isle. The cheapest stuff there is a plain glossy white pannel that works well as "white board" material. Very useful for keeping notes on the walls. Cost about $12 a sheet, which is actually less expensive than reflectix per square foot.

Great idea! Im trying to remember why flat is better than glossy - hot spots?

Panda is glossy, mylar always looks like its covered in hot spots. Something smooth like that wallboard really wouldn't have hot spots.

getting there

getting there

Life always throws curve balls at you.

Got absolutely nothing done today except a stop by home depot.
Got new weather stripping, hooks to hang the equipment, and fuck I forgot i need duct clamps.

I'm really thinking of doing this attic exhaust, regardless.

Two lights will be 2 hot, my instincts tell me, i know it will be, I can't put an A/C this early hahaha, everyone will be like wtf or know.

We'll see tomorrow.

Stole some of my schools epic soil mix hahahaha, I had no medium for the germinated seeds, 100% success 10 outa 10. lets see what they become. they are cush plants

Still need to finish painting :wallbash:

Time for work, gotta pay the bills...

If your beans just popped, it will probably be a month before ya need to fire up that 2nd light.

correct, but a successful controlled and proven system is first tested w/o plants, so I'm not going to be doing this properly imo.

Going to set up both lights, but only use one.

Also installing carbon filter, but not going to use it.

panda film floor ready.

paint tmrw, redoing the door / trim.

organizing and cleaning all equipment.

super cleaning carpet and panda film floor.

weather stripping for light proof and ill have a tiny hey this was what I experienced for people to use as a guide because I was never helped with this but learned some interesting and maybe obvious, but not common knowledge cause I couldn't find it anywhere.

I lost one seed in the dirt lol, im sure it'll pop up soon enough, but for fun im going to put a few in there, and germ the old fashion way.

the hunt begins.

Dam Holidays

Dam Holidays

Can't wait for this to be locked and loaded!

Easter is cool if you have your head up your ass and no idea whats real or not in life. But Home Depot is open, fucking love those people.

Closet door painted. Passive intake isn't working like it was before for light proof filtered fresh intake air. 1$ solution at home depot, black A/C Foam thats 1/4" thick and works perfect at both ends and makes a difference! Just cut to size, tape, or in my case, screw into place with everything else.

What is the best way to clean my new reflector that goes over the cool tube? I got 91% alcohol and simple green, and glass cleaner. Leaning towards the alcohol but if theres something better or w/e let me know, like just rubbing it down with water instead, no experience with this metal, and its soft, scratches/bends real easy.

Progress!

I need to replace this shoe string set up with something more professional, any recommendations?

I'll be starting a new thread for Cush x OG Kush - Lets see what I get.

I know I said I won't get clones, but I totally am getting clones. I want to fill this closet up fast, and those seedlings will take too long.

Who wants to see me grow what?! I'll start taking suggestions or look at what others would like to see grown. This year is going to be fun :)

We'll see what the clinics have around here, I mean Collectives :p but I want some Girl Scout Cookies to see what this fucking hype is about. GSC everywhere now!

One patient wants some Diesel, going to maybe get a cross with that, w/e is available until seeds are acquired.

Thanks for the help everyone! :thank you:

:smoke out:

Plants

Plants

Green Crack x OG Kush seeds.

All 10 popped, I think the dixie cups got too dry at one point and 2 of the seedlings are going really slow. I think ima scrap them. No were close to the others.

I thought I lost one seed, so I planted 4 more in that pot, hehe :)

All 4 are sprouted and going STRONG!

More progress :)

:tiphat:

Buying a ton of coco tomorrow for these piece of shit. Giving them 1 gallon pots, maybe little bigger, coco and hydroton with perlite, yeahhhhh
