nice i always wanted to use them but rockwool is so much cheaper. i finally bit the bullet and purchased a turbo kloner. nice clean cloning tho!

Grabbed a bag of 100 root riots to try out instead of rockwool cubes. They are awesome for seeds but I had to adjust my technique for clones.
Soaked rockwool keeps the cut stem wet so the cutting doesn't wilt (even without a dome). The stems in the root riots were not getting enough water and drying out too fast on top of that. Next time I will try keeping them water logged in a puddle.
They claim to be organic and biodegradable but they don't biodegrade at all. It is a petroleum based plastic of some kind. It would be nice if they actually did disappear in a compost pile but oh well at least they will burn unlike rockwool.
