cloning with rapid rooters

I am currently trying a 50 tray of rapid rooters rite now, and so far i have not been very happy with the results. Maybe I am not being patient, but its been two weeks and not a single cutting has rooted. Major bummer.

In the past I have used rock wool cubes with Olivia's cloning gel and usually get about a 75% success rate. The thing is I made the move to coco coir and I want to rid my grow of all things not biodegradable.

Anyway I believe I've done everything right with these RRs. Used Olivia's, keep the plugs moist but not soaked, its always 75-80 degrees F, under a fluorescent light, been 2 weeks.

Anybody got any advice to help speed things up? i though of getting a less viscous cloning gel like clonex and an eyedropper and putting a couple of drops in each of the holes. anyone agree with this method? Ive never tried it.

i would try using a heating mat. i bet that would fix your issues right there. make sure youre not misting too often(make them bitches grow roots if they want water). i used cloning powder because it makes a nice paste when water gets added and only watered the actual cube like 1 time a week to be careful the paste stayed on there(tho prob would need more since youre RRs arent in soil im assuming) i did use a dome too. try to keep it humid.

You use all the same stuff I am going to use, including the Anti-Wilt coating. I'm surprised that you use it in conjunction with a humidity dome. I thought t was one or the other. Plus, I'll use Dip N' Grow with the Rootech. Instead of placing the clone down in water after taking it, I'll dunk it in Dip N' Grow, then paste it with Rootech.

I'm getting ready to take my first batch of clones. This is all new to me. But I'm very happy to see you're enjoying so much success with the same products.

I heard Root Tech is the best bang for your buck

i'm going to try rapid rooters in a few weeks... i have 15 cuts in rookwool right now, been 15 days only 5 have roots. for some reason its been slower than normal. i think because its hot. temp is a huge factor.

mind as well try a new method.

i use them with tap water and a few drops of liquid karma in my dome and i get roots in less than ten days never more than 14 days,,,,100% success rate so far,,,but i have had 100 % success with bubble diy one gallon bubble cloner with a few drops of liquid karma and a drop of superthrive,,,10 days or less everytime,,, i suck at rockwool cloning,,,good luck,,,peace

I'm doing this first time, using a RR tray and dome and heat mat. I'm trying to root under 15 hours light so they can go outside w/o flowering. Temps stay in mid 70s F under lights, about 69 or 70 in dark cycle. I sed Olivia's cloning gel, it looked gummy, like it might be old.

Apparently I'm doing something wrong because everyone else has roots in about 15 minutes. The only thing I can think is moisture, I keep mine damp only. How moist should the RRs be? I took cuts 10 days ago, most look like they'll make it - perky leaves/yellow tips, but no new growth, and I'm not seeing roots. Half of the clones are pure sativas, the other sativa doms.

Hopefully I'm just impatient in this case.

i use mine just like i was starting seeds,,, keep the whole bottom tray covered in water like a quarter inch deep,,i think its right on the front of the package ow to se them do the samething it says,,,
hope my rambling helped if you don't understand go look at JJscorpios rapid rooter cloning guide,,,and follow i have sed his method to a tee with the maxicrop but i use liquid karma now,,,well hope you get roots and if your humidity isn't saying 60 or above its going to take a lot longer,,,i keep the nmidity in mine 75 or better when cloning i like to set a tupperware bowl in the tray under the dome with the clones i fill it with water everyday to keep humidity up,,, indicas normally root faster so take that into consideration as well,,,peace bro

Thanks man. I was looking at the tray today and figured that out - feel like a boob for not reading the instructions - usually anal about that. My humidity is on the low side, so maybe that's part of it as well. It's all about learning for me right now, so I'm getting something even out of poor results - experience.

Thanks again man.

i got roots on four different plants two cuts of each in 8 days after 10 days they were about 5 inches long,,,never changed water in tray added straight water only,,,started out at 200 ppm- (140 out of tap and a lil bit of liquid karma),,will post pics when usb issues are resolved,,,peace

I usually get roots in about 5 to six days.. Even woody stuff that you wouldnt think that would pop that quick. I use clonex and hygrozyme presoak then drip and grow

yeah i used to have terrible luck when i used rock wool for cloning but since i bought these cubes my success rate has gone to like 90%, as long as they arnt to wet u cant go wrong. man u wish i could get em to root in 5 day though, the sensi star took like 3 weeks maybe more somtimes.

how long does it take to pop seeds in the rr's? do u guys bury them or just drop them in there

i crack the seeds in paper towels then once theyre poking out bout a quarter inch i drop them in the rapid rooters

im trying to clone using the rapid rooters ive been told it can be done with just the RR and water so far been 2 weeks and no roots yet evrythings still real nice n strong n green though hoping for something to pop through the RR

i live in a really arid region of the united states so im having to constantlly add water to the RR dome our typical humidity here is bout 10 percent ive kept the ph of the water around the 6.0 range was told its better to run it a lil more acidic i dunno i just need roots

well as of 6-7-09 i got one to grow roots out the sides of the RR no kinda gel or hormone in water no nothing just RR and water and have been pulling more and more rooted cuttings so far have had zero failure

Well i'd be source of confirmation on the whole rooter vs rockwool thing.. I've always used RW but now i've purchased about 25 rooters and Im gonna try with this.

RW ain't bad, and personally i find for my seed germinations it is about 100%, but cloning wise its a different story. I think with RW, cloning can still be done, and probably great if you are a pro grower or has the best optimal conditions, but with the failures ive had with RW cloning, it can't hurt to give the RR a shot. Everything i've read also seems to indicate the RR to be a bit more forgiving in terms of errors and mistakes. Just not having to presoak it and worry about PH nightmares is a good thing.

I'll keep everyone posted, but so far its day 3, no roots, but no severe wilting either which is new for me.

I've got them in a dome.. i dont use no anti wilt sprays or nothing like that.. i used root hormone (powder kind) on them and thats it. Also my dome has a bit of water in it, so that the rooters are sittin in about 1-1.5 cm of water. (Water ph'd to 5.5-6)

If you paper towel them, let the roots pop out and get 1/4 to 1/2 inch long before you stick them in the rapid rooters, put the root in the hole and you are good to go.gigitty

sometimes the seeds germinated in rapid rooters, have a difficult time righting themselves and sending the shoot in the right direction.

I get a better germ rate in rapid rooters than paper towels.

I also like using a little Rhizo-tonic From Canna to accelerate root development.

I am about to try cloning with them for the fist time and appreciate the tutorial on this thread.

Rapid rooters are the best thing for seeds.IMHO

Clones in rapid rooter cubes have roots coming out all sides of their cubes,(My observation) rockwool clones have roots coming out the bottom of cube only! You get 4-5 times as many roots with RR cubes than rockwool,Giving your babies a huge head start with massive side roots and not just a taproot.imo

I almost forgot your question on how long does it take for beans to sprout in RR. I put some feminized HOG seeds in them and they sprouted overnight!

THE NEXT MORNING I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE ACTUAL SEEDLINGS POPPING OUT!NEVER IN MY WILDEST DREAMS DID I EXPECT THAT !!!3 days later they were 2 inches tall with massive roots.Seed co beans are expensive,RR's are cheap insurance to get the most out of pricey beans.

One of the best products I ever purchased, far surpassed my expectations and a must have product for my needs. If you build a house you want the best foundation to build on. RR's are the foundation to grow on without exception.IMHO

Rapid Rooters!!!

Rapid Rooters!!!

Hi All ! Nice Info !!! Rapid Rooters come 3 ways= those spongy type in
the plastic bag, the tray with 50 rooters, and the mat with 98 rooters...Used all
3 types.....The spongy ones IMO SUCK!!!! The mat is GREAT! !!:woohoo:The drawback is you have to cut them for use.... Soak the rooters in Maxicrop liquid
seaweed only that's it! Seaweed is Gods nutrient.....Build an IMMUNE system
in your plants from the start with misting, and in the root area....go to Maxicrop.
com.....read the info....No mold problems in over 2+ years...knock on wood!
Apply Maxicrop once a week that's it....PH 5.8

Clonex is King! pour into shotglass.....
New razor blade, clean with alcohol
Misting bottle with seaweed solution PH 5.8 use RO water
Tray/dome lid with air vents
Flouros with Phillips 32w/48" Sunshine tubes 5000k

Take a cutting, then trim off outer layer of stem at cut area gently, then dip
into Clonex, then insert into Rapid Rooter, and mist with seaweed top and bottom of leaves once, then put cuttings into the tray and cover with dome lid,and open vents a little bit....just moisten the rooters when needed,do not
mist cuttings in tray.....5~12 days later WHITE ROOTS!!!!:yoinks: then trans
plant into medium of choice!!!! Very Simple!!! Cuttings are a little wilted at
first, then within hours they are back.....Good Luck!!! Peace!

Im kicking my self for picking up grodan cubes instead of rapid rooters .I wish rapid rooters would come wrapped though individually like a rockwool cube .
