I use the exact stuff discussed in the first post purchased at walmart
Are there any opinions out there on using the chlorine occasionally on the regular nutrient feeding reservoir for moms? Just to keep it nice and clean? There aren't any beneficias present - just basic CNS salt nutes for veg. Thanks.
ok ao hate to blow your whole theory out of the water but....
I use nothin but ro.
Hard to believe people are still discussing/arguing about cloning. It is so simple, even a caveman can do it. There are a dozen different ways to clone, and all of them work. Just stick the damn cut in a glass of tap water, and it will have roots. Stick it in a cup of coco with a bit of rhizotonic, and it will have roots. Stick it in an aerocloner, and it will have roots. Just dip it in cloning gel after cutting with a clean razor, and you should have no problems. If you have a glass, and some tap water, you have clones.
It's simple, some people have problems with their water getting slime and that's what this thread is about, we're all very happy that you have no issues and can clone in a pile of dog shit if you want to, that doesn't change the fact that you aren't everybody and some people such as me have issues with water getting slime with all the "simple" methods you guys have an easy time with and this thread probably helped me a lot. If you have nothing of actual substance to add to the subject matter why keep telling us how easy it is when you clearly don't experience the same issues we do. I believe we all started with simple methods before having to google around for answers on how to keep our water clear.
If anyone is interested in my findings.
the pool shock is erratic, and hard to monitor.
I purchased a orp meter to try and keep levels consistent.
to obtain 1ppm of hth shock in a 50 gallon rez took way more added shock than anticipated.
I used test strips to verify the meter was on point.
I had to use roughly 2 teaspoons to get the recommended 1ppm which was obviously way to much imo, you could smell the chlorine was way to potent, so i diluted it to half, down to 1tsp for 50 gallons.
Initially everything seemed fine, after a few days i noticed calcium toxicity in the leaves, I thought i could live with that if the plants stayed healthy.
after 2 weeks i noticed the roots were starting to brown up and die, and the toxicity has gotten worse.
It seems that long exposure to the shock will indeed kill off the plants, i may have done something wrong, but i dont think so?
At this point my experiment has failed and i will continue to look at a better option to keep the rez clean and bacteria free.
if i missed something that you guys know of plz let me know, this would have been a great option for me.
