Day 164 Thai Stick G the night before harvest

Day 164 Thai Stick G the night before harvest

I felt motivated to go snap a few quick pics of TSG(clone) that I moved into my harvest closet tonight. She's really developed nicely over the last 2 weeks or so Ive had her in my veg tent. The foxtailing on her has finally 'come in'. The slowest among the three ladies to reach that stage. She has yellowed nicely, but the buds are a nice green color covered in sticky stinky crystals. Most of her will get cobbed, but the largest buds Ill jar cure for a comparison, plus I kinda like to keep the primo tops for the jars.

Are these big buds? I dont know, you tell me.

HELP! Thai Stick E is trying to swallow my arm!

Buds so heavy they snap the branches and sag to the floor. Gonna be a large haul from this sexy lady.

I'm sitting here trying to imagine what 31 week Thai would smell and taste like, and especially that incredible high...must be amazing. And if it keeps you updating with those super dank pics you should keep in that Thai jar haha. I love looking at these girls :tiphat:

Nice bud, man you have got that plant happy.
Tangwena

Thanks Tangwena. Thankfully these ladies dont require as much upkeep to keep happy, compared to a real woman

Got em cut down and hung up now drying. Soon Ill be happily smoking those fine ladies.

Looks triply already Dave.... :)

Thanks Green81. I hope a real nice cobbing done properly and a long cure will get me that trippy high many of us are after. Ive got a nice 2oz cob of TSA Ive begun to dip into. Pretty good so far, but like Tang has said, for best results cure it many months. Maybe in 6 months it'll provide me a really trippy high.

Im glad you like them Buddah. Im pretty proud of my beautiful ladies. Its a real treat to be able to admire them up close and personal.

I want to cross the Thai with my best Durban Male. I have 3 Durban Poison Males, but only one that didn't show intersex problems. Thats been a dream cross for awhile now. I get to recreate Super Sativa's Seed Club Durban Thai High-flyer classic. I couldn't be happier.

I could also cross the Thai with Mr. Nice shit, but Id have to do a grow out of seeds to find a male, and Mr. Nice Shit has intersex problems, so it'd take even more time to find a good pure male. Not really worth the time atm.

Currently the only seeds I have made with the Thai are a handful of fully formed seeds Ive found in the jars of TSA(first run). It was unintentional, so likely a pollination from an older Thai(not shown in the thread), known as TSB that looked alot like TSG but had really bad intersex problems that had to be culled permanently.

I didn't get any males, so I can't recreate my own line the old fashioned line sadly. Ill just focus on making some nice sativa hybrids for personal enjoyment.

Go find a pine forest, take a handful of fallen pine leaves, grind them up and take a BIG whiff. Thats gonna be your dominant smell, with a light background of cedar/woody aroma. Tastes much the same. I prefer the sweeter terpene profiles like that of the Durban P, but the effects of the Thai are often preferred.

Im dipping into some cobbed Thai right now, and I just wish I could share it with all of you. Once you go cob, you never go back, and if its a cob made of Thai...well then you're golden.

i love pure thai ,I'm impressed, sincere congratulations!

Im glad you enjoy it lupo. Everyone should try their hands at growing some pure thai. Its completely do-able as long as you dont use HPS, and are a patient person and remember to feed often.

beauuuuutiful!!!!!

any plans to hash?

they seem idea for tangwena's cob cure for sure.

I have about 5 jars full of Thai Stick A(31 weeker) that I want to turn into dry sift, and further refine into some top shelf dry sift. Should be a real doozy.

Ive already cobbed much of my latest harvest of TSA, and although I didn't sweat it nearly well enough, Im happy with the results. These next two will be given a proper sweating before the vac-sea. Ill try to get some pics up of my latest cobs today.

Looks great. And yes I would say those buds are Huge.
Excellent work.

Peace GG

Much appreciated GG. Its weird how my largest buds ever grown are either from pure sativas or nearly pure sativa hybrids. Who needs an indica with sativas like this.

Roots, Big, Fat, Hairy Roots!

Roots, Big, Fat, Hairy Roots!

Ive got a lot of photos I snapped in recent days sitting on my camera waiting to be uploaded, and shared with you all. Im not sure how much Ill get through tonight, but Im hoping I can manage at least two updates tonight.

Lets start with the Thai clones underneath my t5's. Well, their roots that is. I had the 4 ladies in tiny containers for an extended period and only just transplanted them on the 21st of February into larger 1 gallon containers. Should have done it much sooner, but Its good to know my laziness didn't hurt the roots vigor.

To prepare the up-canning, I mixed my usual calcined D.E. & montomillarite clay at a 1:1 ratio, with it making up 15% total volume of the media, 3% Bio char, and 82% Promix HP w/ Mycorrhizae, and a teaspoon or two of Bio-works Rootshield Plus+ Granules spread underneath the root-ball for added protection against root pathogens. I often times like to precharge the de and mc with my nutrient solution so they wont steal N that is later applied, which Bio-Char is known to do if not precharged in some manner.

That stuff works wonders as long as you water appropriately.

After adding the rootshield, I sloughed off the sides of the rootballs with my hand, and did the same to the bottom, as well as just gripping and ripping roots to break up the rootball a little. Stuck them into the pot, filled in the media and here we are now.

These roots are now even longer and fuzzier since these pics were taken, a day later. Pics coming up in a moment, along with some commentary on whats going on. The size of your saucer is very important...

If you look closely you may notice the container doesn't actually sit on the bottom of the saucer. The saucer is just a bit too small, and the container ends up wedged snugly into the saucer with about 1-1.5cm gap. This gap is very important. If properly watered, it maintains a very humid environment allowing the roots to grow long outside of the container and maintain their root hairs.

If the saucer were larger, there would be no gap, and the exposed root tips would die off from lack of a high humidity environment. I dont want to drone on, so Ill get with the pics. If anyone wants me to go into detail in another post, Ill gladly do so.

Aww, it looks like a little fuzzy mouse tail sticking out of the container.

Its all about the Thai tonight. Group selfie!

Its all about the Thai tonight. Group selfie!

You all are gonna enjoy this. Not only will you get to see Gyspy Nirvana Thai Sticks A, E, F, and G, but you'll also see the 'sister' clones of E and F that have been kept underneath a HPS bulb. Im sure you're all aware HPS causes stretch, but wait till you see the difference between HPS and a t5 setup that is 50/50 'red' and 'blue' bulbs.

Even though the plants underneath the HPS are taller and stretchier, and have been topped multiple times their fan leaves are much more healthy, green, larger, and supple and I could stretch the leaves quite a bit before any tearing occurred. They've also been further away from the light source(HPS), while the t5 Clones have been too close tbh, and have suffered from over-exposure and a touch of neglect on my part.

Gonna need to move them into the veg tent asap, but with a Ushio MH conversion bulb, so I can avoid the far-red stretch.

Pictured is, E and F in the back row. Left to right. Front row is the same plants too just clones that never experienced HPS. Quite the contrast. Ive had to cut back the t5 clones once, but the HPS ones have been cut back at least 3 times. So much stretch occurs.

picture.php

The t5 crop a week after transplant. They should look much improved with another week. Ive also upped the Osmocote to 10grams/gallon of media. 4grams wasn't cutting it.

It took awhile, but it looks like Ive 'tamed' these Thai. Should be much easier to handle come flowering time. That's some time away though.

Bottom row left is TSA, Bottom Row right TSG.

Durban Poison D Clone Day 67 Flowering.

Durban Poison D Clone Day 67 Flowering.

I wanted to do a quick update on this little lady, before getting to the other Durbans that are flowering along side of her. 3 others to be exact, but I dont know which ones they are, and Im a little too stoned to drag my ass back to my plants to check. Maybe later Ill check and edit the update.

Back to this lady though. She's getting near the end of her life. No more fresh pistils anymore. Almost all the pistils are a nice fiery amber and beginning to shrivel up just a little. She still needs some time for the calyxes to swell and plump. At day 70, Ill take her into my veg tent for a 10-14 day period, and then chop most of her. Ive got to reveg her after harvesting most of her.

I think I could have gotten more yield out of her If I had kept the lights a bit closer. Im so worried about the upper canopy yellowing out under intense light, and this lady finally began to do so around Day 60 and onwards. Next run of her will also be completely even tops. No more x-mas tree structure. It was fun, but not really ideal for my setup.

Only got a couple pics to start off with, so bear with me.

Wow, Dave, just stunning.

I hope you make a lot of seeds with your own DTHF cross 😎

Thanks bud. If you think they're pretty now, wait until they turn purple later on. I can't wait.

You better believe Ill make lots of seeds. Im gonna have fun growing out those hybrid seeds. These Thai already have tons of vigor, so I can only imagine the hybrid vigor that may occur! It'll be fun to see what the seeds hold inside. Like a little treasure waiting to be discovered.

I snapped some pics of my latest cob attempts, and wanted to share them. If you're still on the fence about cobbing, its time to take that post out from your ass. Get the materials and try it. Itll turn even your crappiest larf into something decent, and it only makes your best buds even better, as long as you get a good proper sweat going.

In the grinder is 3 month jar cured/aged Durban Poison I that flowered for almost 14 weeks. Im glad to say after 3 months in a jar, it smells like sweet candy anise, and when ground up smells of it even more so, and the taste on exhale is so delicious. It has the taste of licorice without the distaste of it. Also much sweeter on the tongue. Its really doing a number on me right now. Im loving it.

Hi Dave that top cob in the last picture, where its broken on the end, looks about as near perfect a cure as you can get. Thats how it should look inside.
That will be good to age vac sealed, it will get much better.
I would love to get my hands on both of them at the moment, tripping out on some Panama cob I chewed a few hours ago. I am salivating at the moment. Pity you say the Nice Shit isn't that good, it is a good cure thats for sure.
You are mastering it very quick soon I feel i will learn from you. Thats what its all about sharing knowledge.
love the close ups mate. RESPECT.

Thanks my man. I was really happy with them the first time I unwrapped them. Thats what Ill be aiming for with every cob going forward. Ill be glad when Winter is over, and its warm again. My cobs should be easier to sweat, and even better.

I wish I could share them with you, but I just vac sealed them per your advice. You sealed your own fate. hehe. Ive still not tried chewing it again yet, someday soon. I just read your other post about doing an iso wash. Maybe Ill pick up some everclear and make a tincture. Although the last time I made a tincture I over did it, and was wrecked for hours. Should come with a warning. I can only imagine doing it with aged cobs...

Im only able to cob like that thanks to your advice and tips. You've answered lots of questions Ive had. I couldn't do it without all you've taught me, and Ill keep aiming to improve my cobs from one to the next. :tiphat:
