Clean, Easy Cool Tube Tutorial

An MH lamp is usually to fat to fit inside the bake-a-round.

Running a 1k HPS with a cool tube and a 8" vortex in a 5'x5'x5' area (125 cu.ft.), I had no heat issues.

I have also run a 600 HPS in a 4x4x2 (32 cu.ft.) area with minor heat issues, without a cool tube.

hey man, i'm trying to do this DIY, along with quazi's convert-150w-security-light to remote balast mod. eventually, when next year starts up, i want to switch to a 400w light. would i have to prepare a different socket for the more powerful light? is there a way to make this less permanent so i could do that? thanks.

if your 150 uses a mogul base, then any other wattage hps bulb will fit in it.
mogul base = bigger threads
standard base = smaller threads (the same size that a regular incandescent or cfl screws into.
i sure hope i am making sense.

LEMON!!! You are the shit. How creative. I know you didn't invent it, but dude, that came out incredible. I'm gonna have to do this with my next setup in Jan. I can't tell you enough how much people amaze me on this site. We have people that can do shit like this and a fucking numbskull for a president that can't even cover up a war. We just need to have growers run the country.

I found one of these bake tubes at a second hand store. As soon as I seen it and the words, "Pyrex" I knew what *I* was going to use it for. I had wanted to build a cool tube for awhile, but could never find hurricane lamps at reasonable prices (I'm cheap).

I seen the bake tube kit, and figured I could make various conversions from the hurricane lamp cool tube DIY write ups. But to my surprise, you already had one specifically for the pyrex tube I got.
I'm going to use my 400w HPS flowering for this (I still use daylight CFL's for veggie time with great success).

Anyways, I wanted to send you a whole bag of kudos and good karma for this write-up, thank you.

BTW, the Pyrex Bake tube (same as yours 3 3/4 O.D.) I found at the second hand store for only $1 (I did mention I was cheap). Only one they had, I may never see one again in my life - hope I never break it.

This is pretty awesome dude. I'm going to do this. :) Already ordered my Pyrex tube.

Man, you just saved me $100. I don't know how I've managed to miss this thread...

I found a bake-a-round at a thrift store for FOUR BUCKS!

+rep for you, Lemon.

Mine wasn't quite the same as the project above, but I had to make due with insufficient parts. However, it still turned out very well. :D
