Here's some more info on my old clone...

Hey Crazy Chester, tell me about this clone you got. What did it taste like?

Unfortunately, I don't have it anymore and I'm back to scouring what genetics are left out there to find that old magic. But, I just finished posting what it was like over on LostTribe's thread and I'm pasting it here for you:

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]My information is based on an original F1 "grapefruit" pheno clone I acquired in 2002 or 2003, which I ran many flowerings of until around 2010.

I had also sampled a pineapple pheno around the same time from the same grower, but I did not have that clone or ever have a chance to observe it growing.

Besides having different terpenes - with one having a grapefruit smell/taste and the other pineapple smell/taste, I would say that the high was the same except the pineapple pheno I sampled was just barely more potent than my grapefruit pheno clone.

The main thing is the pineapple pheno was not so different from the grapefruit pheno that I "had to have it." If the grow traits of the pineapple pheno were similar to my grapefruit pheno, I'm sure I would consider both phenos to be "The Grail".

That said, here are my observations about the clone I grew for years:

1. It grew rapidly and easily;

2. It cloned very easily;

3. In late flower, it looked almost indistinguishable from the Princess pic LostTribe posted a few posts ago, having amazing trichome coverage and the buds terminating with a flatish shaped head;

4. It never "hermied";

5. It had loud terps - no "faint" smell at all - it STUNK of grapefruits with just a bit of rotten meat on the nose;

6. It finished in 45 days of flower;

7. It had a rocket blast sativa style head high, that was so speedy it was a little scary at times;

8. It never had any indica effects;

9. It tasted strongly of sweet grapefruit, mirroring its aroma;

10. The taste didn't change even if you put down a half smoked joint to smoke later;

11. The effects of it lasted a long time - at least 3 hours;

12. The effects had a very high "ceiling", depending on how much you smoked;

13. It could be smoked all day long without any lethargic "crash"; and,

14. Over the course of years, I developed NO tolerance to it.

Nowadays, a plant that has just a few of those traits is often considered a "keeper" and one with all of those traits is mostly just a dream for one who has never experienced it, and, for those that have experienced it, it is a wistful memory, and also motivates us to turn over every stone to see if we can find it again.

I somehow missed your reply. Thank you for the detailed rundown. A friend of mine had a mystery clone from a long time ago and just recently I began realizing that it was probably from the same family as the Cinderella. This makes me think that even more. Thanks again for the rundown!

I fondly remember bubblegum as being one of the top strains I have ever had the chance to come across in my entire life. In college, our dealer had a jar of it only once, and we were lucky to have bought a gram (for $20!) on a whim. I just remember sitting in a circle with my 5 friends and having one of the most random, giggle-fest conversations ever. It was very cerebral and social and intoxicating. We contrived some epic plans which sadly never came to fruition, but I still remember to this day what we came up with and had decided was the most amazing ideas ever. It was an amazing smoke. We returned the next day asking for more, but she was all sold out and never had any more. This was Michigan in 2012.

Good story, Succinct. I never tried bubblegum, but I have no doubt that it is top notch.

EDIT: RIP BOG - some of BOG's best creations involved the bubblegum clone, I'm pretty sure.

EDIT 2: Now I do have the Indiana Bubblegum clone - and I love it!

Haven't posted here in a few years, as I've unfortunately been on hiatus from growing - but I'm back in the game now! Currently have 4 plants going into flower (2 Sour Diesel and 2 Bubblegun (Bubblegum x AK47)), but more importantly - I just put an order in for a pack of KOS C99 for my next grow! I have never had the true original, but my first two grows back in '07/08 I ran Joey Weed's Cindy, which was allegedly F2 from Bros Grim stock. To this day that stuff remains the best smoke I've ever had, so it will be interesting to see how the KOS stacks up. Here's a few pics of my 2nd Cindy harvest for reference:

Very Nice! I'm considering grabbing some of these f2's from Joey as I hear nothing but good things about them.

Just talked with him to inquire about fresh -stock, all good so going to snatch up a pack shortly. Your run looked Fantastic, and helped me make up my mind. In the mean time, about to start a few C99 from Blimburn so in the end I will be able to compare the 2- breeder's results.

I recommend the Peak line. Much fruitier and a much better held line vs this recent JW.

I just ordered some of those, still looking for reports, and would pose the same question... anyone?
Not sure if it's just me but any Blimburn stuff I've grown has always been the worst of the tent/cupboard. I wouldn't bother tbh. Just seems like some fake knockoffs of clone only strains.

Ok Thanks, I see somewhat conflicting reports here and there on the net. Never personally ran any of their gear, already have a pack of their C99 otw along with freebies of their Blue Dream and Cafe' Racer, so I will just have to see how they go.

How many did you grow out? I usually have to grow out at least 20-30 plants to find a keeper. I’ve been running now for a decade plus this time and I’ve only found 3 keepers out of seed packs from lots of breeders. The two other cuts I run were gifted to me.
