I didn't say the newer Joey Weed release is not as good as the older one - just that it might be different. Someone here who was seeking the pineapple pheno got only the grapefruit phenos. So, the possibility of it favoring grapefruit phenos more than the older one was discussed. So, it's just one experience I'm thinking of. But, if you don't mind a higher possiblility of getting the grapefruit pheno I know of no reason it wouldn't be as good as the older seed runs.
Man my experience with the line overall is that it favors grapefruit honestly. The pineapple (particularly in my early releases of the original genetics) is 75% grapefruit, 25% Pineapple from what I can tell of my old ass beans. Seems like way back when we did our original sprouting in 00 or 01 the only pineapple keeper (I'm very picky with keepers) was the male. We did get some of the more tropical smelling chemotypes but not none of them had the pronounced pineapple smell that our male did. I do have from the current batch one that is very pineapple, maybe stronger than the male. I'll start an indoor room with my clones of the current seedlings sometime soon and keep everyone updated. I figured seeds will be ready in the next week, two at the very most.
So long and short, a buddy died. He smuggled back some Cindy 99 from brother's grimm in 2000, we sprouted two packs back then, got one pineapple male and stunning grapefruit female. When he died earlier this year I got all his cannabis gear, in that gear was nine original C99 seeds. I sprouted nine, coaxed eight to sprout, got four males and four female. I open pollinated the four females. I saved a flower bunch from each unselected male and am working on a full run of old pineapple leaning male (end of Octish). Heres the seed tent. Pulled the HGK out of the way, WW in the back left not intending to seed these two. Still need to locate some real trays but everywhere is sold out. They are bunched up in the middle without them, definitely need to get them spaced better. The back right is #1, front left is #4 which is super bushy this time. The #1 stretched a lot as the veg space was filled with seed starts that I was holding until I could smoke test cuts. Culled them now and waiting on cuts and fresh mom cuts to take root. I might put the #1 mom in there once cuts take. The #4 is getting hit with as much pollen as I can get on her. #4 has the evil side of the line in her, definitely not for everyone, hate to smoke that one after dark it can straight freak you out.

These look similar to how the purple mom's progeny started out so we'll see. These are under led's. I see a more indica looking POTH and staying much shorter than POTH so far but I have a feeling that will change when put into bloom. Think I might start a couple of the purple side again to compare.

I'm at 53 days into flower with my FDM C99 and she smells funky. Smells nothing like weed or fruit in the room. More of a rotten flower smell, not like any plant I've been around. Bit of rotten fruit smell from stem rub. I call her Cindy Rotten Crotch, fingers crossed she smokes nice because she's unique!
