So I just read that its hot in New York in august. IM from texas. so will I be too hot there. like if its in the low 80's to high 80's I think ill be ok. but if its in the 90's it be too hot for me.

opinions please.

It's not just the air temperature, it's the fact that most of the surface area absorbs and re-radiates heat, it's the fact that tall buildings help to hold in exhaust and block breezes that might help cool the heat a bit. If you were going to visit Williamsburg which is a small Colonial era town and much more open it would be different but NY City is a huge sprawling Metropolis. If you live in the city in Texas, say Houston or Dallas then you can probably tolerate NYC then someone who lives more in the country in Texas.

Another thing about the Eastern Seaboard is it tends to be very humid and so on a typical August forecast anywhere south of say Boston it will read something like 95 feels like 110. Then again sometimes it's not that bad and temps are cooler in the mid to low 80's sometimes even the upper 70's but that's not something you can count on being true in NYC in August.

Up north should definitely be better. A nice place to visit that's a little more convenient. Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. It seemed like there were lots of cool things to do and see there. Although it does seem to cater to the wealthy a bit since so many make up the local community.

Chicago??

Cannon Beach OR, the Columbia River Gorge, Glacier National Park, Tetons, Adirondacks, Burlington, Portland Me, Asheville NC, Acadia and Bar Harbor(that's where you should go) Fly into Portland, rent a car, great food and music in Portland, next day drive up Rte1 and stop at all the postcard fishing villages and artist enclaves. Take a couple nights to get to Bar Harbor. Stay at the Bar Harbor Inn (google it). Rent bikes. Take the shuttle out to Acadia and ride the carriage trails. Absolutely world class food in Bar Harbor. Everything from hippy chic to full blown elegant. Do sunrise on Cadillac mountain.Rent kayaks. My dream( I dream pretty small) is do a String Cheese Incident or Railroad Earth run at Red Rocks. Do the legal weed and see the area. Just gotta smoke it all before you head home.

Chicago??

Astoria and the Olympic mountains won't be far.

The Cascades are worth taking in too.

Bellingham has cooler people than you'd think, and Vancouver Island is a must if you're that close.
