Hey my icmag peoples I want your opinion on a vacation.

so me and the fam wanna go on a 5 day vacation in august before I go back to my collage classes in the fall.

Iv narrowed it down to ether New York or Jamaica-Negril.

If it were you and you only had a two thousand dollars max to spend on the flight and hotel together what place would you choose.

Iv looked up all kinds of hotels + flight packages for both places and they both look very tempting.

thanks for your opinions.

Haha.2000 dollars in newyork? That's chump change! But I guess it could work if you spend it wisely.if you can I would suggest Martha's vineyard. now that's nice

Jamaica - you get to experience another culture if ya haven't been there before. Not that all cities are alike but New York is just another big city, like someone said not the most relaxing. I would go with Jamaica or spend the 2 grand on weed and stay home hehehe

Don't go to NYC unless you have a friend there to show you around....
If you're near the northeast, Martha's Vineyard would be nice...
Stay away from big cities unless you're going for museums, etc.

Washington D.C. has lot's of historical stuff to see in a close area. The Smithsonian Museum is amazing...

But I'd use the 2 grand to take the trip to Jamaica..
Negril is WAY too built up now.... Research the east end of the island...Stay far away from Kingston...

NYC is a ses pool. Jamaica I hear is nice if you can get out of the tourist traps they have gated off separating parts of their port towns.

Depends on what you want to do...relax in tropical oasis (Jamaica), experience a different culture, food, music (ganja).....
Bud Green Sr. is in the know. Stay away from larger locales, you'll really enjoy the vibe. Had a friend in the Peace Corps in the late 80's reside in Kingston during her stint. She lost some of her hearing from the blaring Reggae. Ha! Really!

OR

New York, (experience the city, then find more rural atmosphere to round it out) chock full of iconic features (Times Square, the TV networks, 9/11 Memorial, Statue of Liberty, etc.)the wharfs, museums, off Broadway plays, street carts, multi-cultural eateries, America's architecture, infamous taxi rides! In rural NY, plenty of fruit stands, orchards, Adirondacks and Catskill mountains. Best of both worlds, if there is such a thing in NY. To experience it once...worthy the $$.

And, depends on $$$ you want to spend.

Recall many telling me about Amsterdam, sidewalks full of dog shit, it smells of urine, pick pocketers deluxe (as with any large metropolitan area). True, but there's so much more! Didn't dissuade me from going there 8 times in 12 yrs.! After a week in Amsterdam, I always enjoyed the beach cities of Zandvoort or Scheveningen.

Consider looking for short stay apartment vs. hotel. You can buy goods at corner markets and cook and better place to relax. That's the only way we travel now. Motel/hotel rooms stifling.

Combo 'deals': hotel/flight isn't always the cheapest.

HAVE FUN wherever you decide!

Nicely put arid.

Personally, I loved New York on both times I have been... Felt 'at home' there. Have heard it said that people are rude there, not experienced that myself.... But I come from the UK, world capital of rudeness and shit customer service

Jamaica. I've never been there. Sounds like a blast really. Been through New York and its def a cool refined place. Niagara Falls is on the short
List also. Have fun dude.

Even though I know 10+ people that swear New York is a blast I'd pick Jamaica over NY any day. Never been to either though.

Big cities are just... Meh. Corporate shitholes with way too many brainless fuckwits running in my way and touristscams around every corner. I think if you've seen one you've seen most of them. If you can find some locals to hang out with or alternative guides it can be a blast though, loved to see the other side of Prague... Getting away from the superficial tourist level is a must for me.

hmmmmm.......

I've been to Jamaica 3 times, but grew up in NY.

NY for sure but stay across the river on the jersey shore, I just looked @ vacation rentals in Long Branch and found one for $110 per night, rent a car and travel 1 hour north to use the PATH train in Hoboken to cross into Manhattan @ 14th street in a matter of minutes.

Feel like relaxing 1 or 2 days? you're already @ the beach and could still be in NYC every evening still. make it interesting and take a ferry across the Hudson, just make sure you know you'll need to take a train back if you guys are coming in late, that Jersey side ferry depot would need to be along an accessible rail station.

The food:
the pizza is to die for

Nathan's Hot Dogs in Times Square

Gray's Papaya (B'way & 72nd St) or Papaya King (179 E. 86th St.) for great
dogs & cool papaya & other fruit drinks.

6th street between 1st & 2nd Avenues, you'll find no less than 20+ Indian restaurants on that one block.

DON'T miss Churrascaria Plataforma @ 316 W 49th St, it's expensive but worth the jing, Google that name to check out their website. one meal @ Plataforma is worth 10 of the best in Jamaica.

Do you want authentic Jamaican Jerk Chix??? I've got a feeling you'd find it in NYC.

Museums, Hayden Planetarium, Statue of Liberty, 9/11 Memorial, Strawberry Fields in Central Park & the Dakota where John Lennon lived. maybe a thousand other things to see & do.

Hello all,

Was in Mo'Bay about 7 weeks ago and was not impressed with the two different samples I acquired.

Was looking forward to some old school sativa but all I was able to find was indica hybrids and was no different than the buds I grow in my backyard in NorCal that I brought with me on the cruise.

Now I was there for just a day and did not really have much time to look around for better buds.

Can't say anything about NYC.

Enjoy wherever you end up going to.
