Is she a keeper? The genetics sure sound like she should be. I'm looking for some memorable flavors.

Dumb name but a good line!

I hear ya, John Deere, on finding some memorable flavors from this cross. That was/is my hope when I grabbed a couple packs, a nice heady smoke with a killer taste. Haven't yet found what I'd consider a truly memorable flavor but there has been some damn fine smoke and I've only seen 6 females so it's still very early.

Just finished some of my quasi-keeper, I used her as the mom to make f2s and in some outcrosses that I think might really prove useful. Of the females I've flowered they've all been consistently good, no real stand-outs yet but no duds either.

Here's some dry shots. Smells like haze, tastes like it too and the buzz is all in the head.

Both pheno's I had were good, the F2 didnt stretch at all so it got scrapped.

My F1 sativa pheno even tho it was really good herb, with nice bag appeal it took a long time to flower. Almost 90 days, if Im going to go that long I think I'd rather keep looking.

I had an out break of spider mites and they destroyed my choc rain cut so they pretty much decided for me on that one.

Escobar claimed there were 3 tastes/pheno's:

1. short, dark chocolate tasting (chocolope leaning pheno)

2. tall, tropical cocoa pheno (cocoa kush leaning pheno) Note: I think this is where the "berry" is from!

3. high and strong tasting cocoa mix pheno (mix of pheno's)

His favorite is #1- extravagant and chocolate but not the strongest smoke of the 3.

That being said- The first one I grew was pure raspberry with no hints of chocolate anywhere. It was medium height, medium density in the buds, pure berry smell and taste. Incredible resin coverage everywhere. I've read some remarks by Escobar that he somewhat surprised by the pheno's others are finding too. I'll be growing out 24 of these in a week or so....... we'll see what's up.

Thanks. Seems like I'm seeing very good but not fantastic reviews.

I would say the ones I just had would be considered a keeper by many. Not exactly sure where my sativa pheno fits it, I smoked the last of it last night, it had what I would describe as a bitter cocoa taste mixed with a hazey flavor. I probably would have kept it around a bit longer if the mites didn't destroy it and I didn't already have a large mother collection.

I will say it was better than most seed plants I have ran in the past year. Especially for the price, I have spent 5x more on packs of seeds and have gotten mostly garbage from them. Esko always puts out a great product for the price.

Did this resemble your CR, Lion?

If so esko says these are 'rare' and isnt what he was going for with CR. I was under the impression this was only a 9-10 weeker; shit for 90 days id rather grow something that yeilds better. Or is it just that sativa pheno that takes longer?

Edit - imageshack is down. you can search 'chocolate rain e.s.p' at eskos place to find pics

It's good nuff smoke, not all that potent, but nice oldschool choco smoke. This is not smoke for getting really ripped, it's connoisseur stuff!

Just cut today............ after it dries, you'll see the crystals intensify.

This pheno leaned heavily towards the Cocoa Kush "blueberry" parentage, on the indica side. Pure berries, no chocolate hints. Cut at day 60 of flowering after 27 day veg period.

Yes seems very unusual....I've never had a problem with receiving beans from him...even when he was on here and this is the first I've heard of him doing something like him not taking care of a customer who didnt receive their gear...gotta be more to it...

****** has reported numerous times on his site, OpenGrow, that he felt people were taking advantage of his generous replacement policy- especially for orders to the U.S. Therefore, he will only guarantee replacement if you pay the extra fee that he's recently initiated. It's clearly stated on his site. I'm guessing Eskimo didn't pay for the replacement option.....
