jejej Doc,I apologize...my english is really bad at times!
I mean "not sophisticated"
At least compared with CBG´s hybrids based on Chitral Kush
I don´t know if the name "Citral" is pun intended(?? :D),because of the citrus scent or something...
And now that I have buds like Pine Tar Kush or X-18 (i.e.),Nirvana´s Citral seems to be "unrefined"
Hope you get my point :D
See you later!!

soil, soil and soil is where it's @ right now... hydro-morphology and geo-morphology :D
The Chitral region is on the NW of Pakistan. Is a narrow valley, about 300/350 Km. long.Makes border with other valleys that have dense vegetation, such as Kalash de Birir,Rumbur or Bumburet. The Chitral valley is iolated from December to mid Spring, due to intense snows.
Temps may reach up to 30ºC (86ºF) in Summer, while in January, range between 1º and 10ºC.
Rain:up to 750ml/m2(from 500 to 750)
Humidity is higher in Summer,up to 65%;and in winter the average is 40%
The soil is dry and rich in carbonates.Low in organic compounds,Clay/sandy in the valley and turning to sandy at higher elevations.
to be continued....:D:D:D

so most of the diff strains have diff chem chains with the active cannabinoids? That is, the pure strains?

Gilgit/Chitral, up north areas above Lahore have all the good strains.

All the good charas is traded in the North West Frontier Province.... Mostly of Afghani origin tho, comes in on the Khyber Pass highway....

Also a lot of charas goes out the Korkoram highway up to XinJiang and out of the country :)

The cultivated plants are grown in the valley, and used to make hash instead of being smoked as ganja. The peasants don´t kill the males,so the weed is fully seeded, and since the valley is isolated from certain winds, the plants cross among themselves, and the lines keep (relatively) pure, because "foreing" pollen carried by the wind can´t reach them.
The "wild" plants used mainly for "charas" production, grow at mid altitude, and the seeds drop from mature plants and grow...and are cold resistant for sure...
EDIT:Different strains mean different cannabinoid and TERPENE profiles IMO

Due to complications beyond our direct control, the 'Chitral Grow Project' is currently on hold... lol. The gathering of info. is however on-going... and still remains the initial aim of this project (seeker of knowledge) :chin:
Any cultivation reports will be posted in the new 'Grow Diaries Forum' for all to enjoy... :joint:

Raco with your permission I'd like to cite some of the contextual geographical info. you have kindly put foward in paper. It is very good stuff

please keep it flowing folks :D
(esp. looking for any other breeders that carry this cultivar)

peace out DocLeaf

Please Note: this paper will be made freely available to all

she grew very columnar, without much side branching. Big full floral clusters. Seeds came from my ex's family directing at the source.

“I was looking for Kohistan, ‘land of mountains’, in this most mountainous part of the whole planet… The Kalash Kafir… live in three interconnecting fertile strips, Bumburet, Rumbur and Birir - buried high in the mountains and until recently inaccessible to vehicles – that are the part of complex valleys of Chitral…”

Hi everyone,
I don´t know much about the Chitral line...however,I first heard of the Chitral hash, say 30 yrs ago :joint:
Those plants (both from the valleys and mountains) can be succesfully grown outdoors here in Spain, because of the latitude and climate of parts of the country.Outdors, they can be high yielders, and the plants are well branched.
Unlike the afghanis, the leaf blades are quite long, medium width, and they look close to their cousins, the South Indians.
The leaves are dark green, and the buds have a high calyx-to-leaf ratio, really few leaves in the buds, which are made of thousands of little-to-medium calyxes that look like cotton balls scattered all along the branches.
Sweet aromas when fresh, turning to more spicy after proper curing :joint:
