Thanks for checking in CG. Things are awesome. Everything is pretty small and a long ways away from any kind of results so its a real chill time right now. Full of mystery and suspense. I wish I had a time machine... but I guess I would be missing out on all our new snow we've received. I guess its shred time in the meanwhile. poor us.. :skiiing::skiiing: haha

Evolving watering methods

Evolving watering methods

I've decided to adopt another one of the Revs T.L.O (True Living Organics) techniques.

Today's Tip:

Measured and Double Watering by the REV

"Watering twice is something I have always told you organic growers about, always hit dry/roots with a little pure water about 30 minutes before I applying teas, or anything else; especially things like seaweed and fish fertilizers in liquid forms. But also do this with plain water, so the distribution of the water is more even throughout the container soil-mix. Over time the roots will guide water right through the containers, and this will create dry-spots that are big troublemakers in container growing with many plants, including cannabis. So always water twice, period"

Sounds like a good mix and a good idea on watering. I found that same problem myself, especially when growing in smaller containers. I had a tendency also on the tea/fert waterings to let the plants sit in a container with an inch or so of the runoff for a few minutes to allow the moisture to be wicked around and/or absorbed more thoroughly.

hey brotha - looks great. ya when i worked in landscaping / garden design, my boss was a horticulturist, that was just about the first thing she taught me. makes total sense, first watering moistens stuff up so the second watering can be more effectively taken up.

shoot me a pm when u get a chance, i wanna get some UVB light in my room, looking for some advice!

After the tea application I've seen a nice jump in growth. I expect this growth spurt to continue until the next full moon on the 8th.

Each of the 4 mystery strains are all starting to show some unique characteristics and believe it or not but they are already starting to smell. It was a nice surprise to move a pot and get a nice spicy wiff of things to come.

Good day everybody!

Stage two of the Low stress testing via Bamboo clothes pins is going very well. I enjoy the freedom to change my "weighed-down" point anytime I want. Plus I have more freedom to bend each individual shoot in the direction of my choice, without having to worry about creating a spidersweb of string in each pot.

* Also note the nice bump in growth in the "RED" mystery clone from 2 days ago. I'll mark this tea recipe down as a success.

attachment.php

More importantly, I haven't seen any ruptured epidermis or damaged branches... yet. I imagine this technique would be ideal for small-med sized plants. After a while the branches will become larger than the holes on the clothes pins.

Thanks for tuning in! PS Thanks for all the rep+ lately. It inspires me to continue...

Ready Or Not Here They Start...

Ready Or Not Here They Start...

Ready Or Not, Here They Start... :woohoo:

Every inch of my being tells me to wait and let these girls veg longer but my patient is all out of meds and we need to get things moving. Its best to keep the girlfriend happy :bis:I'll still have 7 young plants that will be vegging longer We will have to have our limit increased when we come up to our renewal. In the meantime, we are looking for a good dispensary source that can possibly mail in BC...

I'll be starting one of each of the Mystery clones. So I can earn some experience with each of them. I can possibly learn enough to make my second cycle of more mature plants more successful and the third even more...
attachment.php

I've recently cleaned and re-organized the entire room and spiked each of the pots with a mix of Seabird guano, kelp meal, alfalfa meal, fish meal, dolomite lime, coffee grounds and egg shells. I've seen the pH of my runoff water dive to 4.5 but I imagine it will stabilize in a couple days after the fresh coffee grounds weaken and the extra dolomite lime will help stabilize as well.

:clock watch: Only 9 weeks to go for 2 strains and 11 for the other 2 <---- PS That's right I know what they are... haha and they are amazing... but I don't know which is which... You will all have a chance to guess which is which when they start packing on the buds. The secret is mine for the meantime. hehehe :grouphug:

Glad to see you're happy with your tea results, that's awesome! Yeah looks like things are about to take off, eh? ;) Just when you think you're in a slow stretch... bam! Interesting stress techniques, get some good time lapse shots for us!! ~mgd

Thanks for the reminder! I've always wanted to do some time lapse shots. I wish I had a tri-pod to set up shots. I guess I'll just have to try and have the camera in the same place everytime.

Do you have any experience with time lapses? How often do you have to take photos?

:thank you:

Great grow and info! Apologies if I missed it but I didn't see it when I looked over the pages and you can't search for 3-letter words...

What is your UVB strategy? I am assuming the 26w bulb is some kind of lizard bulb? Can you shed some light on the details - distance, duration, etc?

shed some light on the details... ha

No problem 2000pm

I use the UVB at a fraction of my total wattage. under 10% of total hps or similar output.

So one 26w reptile cfl is perfect for one of my 600w hps lamps. I position the uvb in one corner of the footprint of the 600w. Then I rotate each plant daily and give each pot a quarter turn. This way not a single plant is stuck under the uvb for a long period of time.
:tumbleweed:
* uvb exposure to plants is similar to humans +uvb. Too much direct uvb and you can get burned. With a little uvb exposure your plant will signal itself to boost its resin production. In efforts to protect itself from the harmful uvb's.:canabis:

*note I haven't used it yet in this cycle. It will be set up shortly. I haven't had time to read up on the benefits of using uvb during veg. So I am just using it after the first week of 12/12.

Project Early Veg

Project Early Veg

So the four early veg plants are transitioning to their flowering cycle with ease. They have recently had their "clothes pins" removed and will need watering in the next 48hrs. you can also notice the big bump in growth since the last pictures. Here are a couple photos of each:

*For those who are just tuning in, I am flowering one of each of my fantastic mystery clones even though they have only been vegging for a short while. My goal is to earn some experience and to get some meds to my gf because she is all out. :( I will have to get an increase when I renew my license this spring. :dance013:

The ladies are coming along nicely. We are just under two weeks from our last update and they are all showing wonderful progression.

I've just started a new booster tea so I'll be expecting a big jump in growth in the next couple weeks. The tea consists of:

12L RO water -aerated

I ran out of brewing bags so I just used an eco-friendly coffee filter. Contents:
2 tablespoons of EWC's
2 tablespoons of Kelp Meal
1 Tablespoon of a "balanced" organic fert by original organics
1 tablespoon of Peruvian seabird guano
1 teaspoon of high P Bat guano

poured straight into water:
10ml of Prozyme by humboldt nutes * New product
1 ml of GO's Cal Mag
1ml of GO's Bio-thrive vegan Bloom
1 ml of GO's Bio Root
1 drop of Superthrive * New product
2 Tablespoons of Raw Blue Agave * New product subbing regular Molasses

BTW this is where I rent my commercial space hehe  I like the added privacy. This is on the Ferry to Nanaimo. I couldn't imagine the wind in the place... I bet it can be pretty scary at times.

420th post!!! woohoo

420th post!!! woohoo

Hey Chief~ Any guesses yet at what your mystery's are?? Exciting!!

Cheers~ Here's to your upcoming 420th post hehe I'm early for the party

I shall dedicate my 420th post to you then MGD's... :woohoo::party::smoke out:
Its cool cats like you that are really pushing natural soil grows... (the term organic doesn't make much sense) ;P

I owe the "oldhat" that passed these along a great deal of gratitude. I have a feeling that they left me in the dark as a test. Even though I know I'll never see them again. It was kind of a mystical offering. I know the names of the 4 mystery strains, but I don't know who is who... and I know that 2 finish in 9 weeks and 2 finish in 11. All I was told is that they are very special indeed. Maybe out of this world...:abduct:

I've been tossing and turning the idea of letting everyone know now and letting them decide; or leaving the mystery longer to build some anticipation.

Maybe I can slowly release the names of each...

What do you (everyone) think?

Thanks again everyone! Much love

:wahey:

Hello Everybody. Thanks again to all you dedicated friends who return time after time...

The next cycle has started in the flowering room and we have six beautiful friends that will be joining the four that are just over 2 weeks into their 12/12 cycle.

I've given them a short veg as well because I have seen some noticeable a considerable stretch in 3/4 of the strains and I have a very small set-up so I cannot afford to grow big trees and dedicate high wattage. It costs a pretty penny to have 2x600's going plus environmental controls. Since I NEVER EVER plan to sell my meds to any patient, its pretty hard to afford the cost of living in BC and an indoor garden, but helping others is priceless...

I've changed around some things again:
* I've raised everything up to improve airflow and bring smaller plants closer to the air-cooled lights
* Moved the first cycle plants from under the Ushio Opti-Blue Full spectrum mh conversion bulb to the Grolux Full spectrum. Which has a lot more deep "reds". full spectrum all the way... its even esthetically pleasing. better ambiance...
attachment.php

*moved the 26w uvb reptile bulb to the corner of the Grolux's foot print and switched to a hanging fixture for better light penetration
attachment.php

* Added another small circulating fan
* Applied another round of clothes pinning to the second cycle. To tame the early stretch in flower
then:
attachment.php

now:
attachment.php

I have seen a nice flower development in the first cycle and I expect another spike in growth in the coming days once the tea goes to work.
