goddamn...ok how does one acquire those genetics?:respect:

bring a chunk of gold , just jokes .

was along time in the making and lots of help from friends and buying seed packs to get to here . well over 12mths in the making just to get the breeders packs .

a lot of passion and dedication , restraint . :)

The next popular KILLER STRAIN is in one of those bags:biggrin:

well this is how it go,s next step , grow a heap of the top 3 , find the pheno,s that are best . grow another large selection once i know the pheno,s , select them to be seeded . but use different males of the same strain , on each different plant . grow offspring see which is best male that was used . then i have the golden ticket strain . lol win lotto . something like that anyway .

my bay lotus and mountain temple f3 look very promising . partially the mountain temple . there was a large pheno variety in the f2 . by growing the f2 i narrowed down the pheno,s that performed and liked . so next round will be champs . not that these weren't . stinky shit it is . even the tallest most sativa dominate one , just pulled nearly a pound from , not bad for just over 2 mths old

so i guess its a wash and repeat of this adventure . without the other billion seeds being made . :)

if i was a breeder or even wanted to be , it would be a totally different process , rooms, clones , mothers . but thats not me .

those summer breeze were ok , average , i harvested the good pheno,s . no pics sorry . but i can assure you there in there . theres lots of nice ones . was just banging them out at harvest no time for snaps . these ones were the left overs . the ones i took out are already dried , pushing out a solid smell already

alrighty, good people , i pm,d bodhi . with all my questions of selecting males for a f1 process . so now we wait .lol he,s already gone into great detail with me what he likes to see in males he selects . i really just wanted to unlock a bit more of his knowledge , on how to find the male that doesn't dominate too much and lets the girls show there full glory .

i was of the opinion at the start of this thread a lot of the males i used have never dominated very much . sept the yeti . but i now found the rem male i used seemed to dominate the cross i used him for . hmmmm .

i need to explore this more . i may need to read a book , i hope not !!
@ mj passion , whats your thoughts man . how do i keep the male from taking over the show . or is it just trial and error . maybe certain strains are better to use than others perhaps .

I, honestly, cannot answer that question. My experience is still fairly limited w males & I rarely keep 'em around after they've been used. Keep pickin Bhodis brain though. I'm just a pollen chucker... lol.

well bodhi never got back too me ,
though speaking with another person , i believe bodhi himself had the problem and had to scrap a few lines .

i,ve been thinking on the topic , the only true way i believe is to test grow the offspring . theres no other real way to be sure . thats it . your never going to know anything without growing the offspring .

on a different note , i,ve seen so many males , but i have to say my latest mountain temple male , is king . it was actually in with the girls , so i must of thought it had pistils or it actually did at the beginning . caught him just in time to move him . but he's got frost on everything and the pollen he pumps out is insane . so i picked even more pheno,s to seed out of them all . the more williams wonder dominate pheno,s . this next lot is going to be really something the f3 . the cured mountain temple is as remembered , chunky stinky , fill the room up stench .
however theres a new leader in the stench department , the jungle spice . man . it made me gag when i opened the bag . thats a first . my missus said god it even burns your eyes its so spicy . it really does . lol i liked growing it too . was awesome . i,m having the f2 tested by friend outdoor this season . feedback on them will be great .

well thats my dribble update for anyone who sat through it :)

You are spot on, you will never know without growing out the progeny.

Some strains are more dominating in crosses than others. It is good to have goals. Find the traits you need in a male and aim for transferring those to the cross while at the same time retaining the traits you desire in the female. To create a hybrid to meet your goal. Selection rejection selection ...

also people , i,m starting to get the the other part of what this mission has been about , prob just as important as restocking the vault........ which was finding 3/5 new strains that ticked all the boxes that need ticking , mold resistance , potency , yield , bag appeal , joy of growing and ease of growing .

i,m not going to jump the gun on this , but i have kinda worked it out , but not narrowed it down to 5 yet . i,m floating around 8 strains atm . leaving it in the hands of the testers is key , as they all initially like something , but the true test is ..... what are they reaching for :)

i think once you start heading up in the top end of strains on offer , each one has something different to offer . you can't judge a malawi to a headbanger so to speak . they 2 totally different things .

so what do you go with ? i guess the trick would be to offer some heavy , some happy , all wrapped up in a nice cure with a bunch of taste and smell

we are also coming to the end of the thread and wrapping up , which is great . i,ve seen it through the whole way and hopefully we have all enjoyed .more importantly maybe even seen some strains that convinced you to try or not :)

I've heard kev talk in videos about how they are choosing males in the afficionado lines and they are testing them for cannabinoid levels and terpenes. there's a video of him showing off the special aficionado males on youtube.

without access to labs to determine what's in your males all you can do is pick a pretty one or toss a coin IMO .
I love finding a male with lots of resin but resin don't mean a thing to me if it doesn't have the terpene combo I like.
I think the internet has shifted our preference to bag appeal over effects for many people.
that's cool I guess for recreational but it sucks if you are a med patient like me.
this #4 seed from the OGKB had plenty of resin like her sisters but almost no smell and a bland high so it was worthless to me...

I have a grip of the most sought after clones in the world and you can't tell shit about them from a stem rub in veg.
you have to smoke the well grown final product to see why they are so much better than millions of other seed pops.

I put all the males that pop into my crosses because I'm more concerned with finding that one killer plant to clone and keep than a batch of seeds that are more regular.

the regularity should commence in backcrossing. I'm on my last step of cubing the OGKB 2.0 and GG#4 and I'm anxious to see how close they resemble the moms.

its nice when someone clearly has been around it for a lot of years , not just read books . its a more consistent understanding of what there talking about . comes across a lot easier .

THAT would be a cross I would like to try.....very interesting

edit: I agree I think Aficionado's genetics are amazing, I "just" got a couple of clones for mothers to take to my new site of the "Black Lime" to "fool around" with ...yeah baby
