pHive.8

Having it as the only light source for the entire cycle (apart from propagation) which lamp type would you choose fellas? "daylight" or "agro" ?

details in this pdf: http://www.lights-interaction.com/index.php?option=com_phocadownload&view=category&download=26%3Ad-papillon-315w&id=1%3Aproducten&lang=en

thanks

within one month the 3th cdm/cmh 315W bulb is being launched in the EU.

it will be the Philips GreenPower CDM/CMH 315W, it is the successor of the Agro and 930 bulbs and will be exclusively available for the Horti segment.

If this was the idea then I would think it would be safe to assume that Philips will be coming out with 600w and 1000w versions? I mean the typical indoor garden isn't going to grow much food from 315 watts. I wonder what their next move will be.

I suspect their next move is being made by their apparently licensed resellers/packagers with the 860 (DNA, Greenbeams, Cycloptics etc.) as well as a horizontal 860...asides from the new 315 bulb mentioned above

*I believe Philips is allowing the remarket startups so the Horti market can be held by them as with their Gavita alliance...

Think "BYE BYE HORTILUX" PHILIPS the largest lighting manufacturer in the world IS MAKING BIG HORTI MOVES :woohoo:

Philips Horti is not selling the 860 cmh as a horti product.
that companies are buying this lamp and use it as a horti product is something else. It is also unlikely that Philips is going to invest big money in HID / CMH, within Philips its all about LED's

Does anyone have the SPD for this supposedly different GreenPower lamp? It says 3200K. How could a "bluer" lamp be more ideal over a "redder" lamp during flower? Doesn't make sense.

I wonder if it will be used for leafy greens as opposed to the Agro. Blue light during the last half of flower IS NOT IDEAL. I much prefer HPS + UV-A/B during the last half of flower to keep the buds tighter.

I guess it's all in the type of bud you want. Airy dark green buds(CMH) vs dense golden buds(HPS).

The only way Philips could improve upon the Agro SPD is by pushing the 590nm-650nm part of the spectrum and making it even lower K rated. Adding more "blue" to a spectrum is only going to make your plants greener and airier which is ideal during the FIRST half of flower not the last half.

I respectfully disagree and these new startups are I can certainly say inspired and driven by Daddy Philips...It is Philips who pushed and designed a CMH bulb then it noticed the large horti following...Philips is also knowledgeable enough to know that LED's still cant cut the mustard horti wise in comparison to hid...THIS IS VERY APPARENT THAT THEY ARE MOVING IN ON THE HORTI MARKET WITH THIS CMH TECH...to say no means you cant see

That example is a HID/LED Hybrid system

Kelvin temps are pretty damned irrelevant...hps for instance is 2100k yet has less red than cmh 4000k

How long do the Philips mastercolors 400w do for lamp life before they are no longer effective? specs say 12,000hours before a 20% drop off. I use them just for flowering so thats 4,380 hours a year so they should be good for 2 or 3 years for me..is my understanding correct. I am looking to stock up since they will be discontinued. got to start thinking for longevity since I still love the tried and true magnetics.

I remember that someone was growing with very old bulbs cmh and his plants looked hideous. its probably buried in the 333 that I read through at some point.

100w LED arrays - 8K Lumens... Have any of you seen these new parking lot lights?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBFlXeRRYe8

Wally-world plopped a new store down in my town and they use LED parking lot lights and I was impressed by how bright they are.

Hopefully in a few years we'll have access to affordable high powered LED agro systems.

GEL is not the manufacturer of the "Ceramatek" ballasts, only a re-seller. They are manufactured in Germany. Once again Americans acting like they made something worthwhile these days. Lol

Do you think GEL came up with the electronic and programming design or they contracted a company OR found a company that already made them and just needed to be reconfig'd for 120vac??

I did some more reading and found they drop off alot about 5000 hours so. I will keep my yearly replacement regiment. a case will last me 6 years or more.

I've just secured a supply of digital low freq. 120vac 315w Elite ballasts. I'll be getting one sometime soon to test it out. The company is also in development of a very high freq ballast for the cosmo/elite bulb line up. Turns out that what GEL/DNA has isn't anything special anymore.

Didn't ask for the K temp guy, asked for the SPD. Doesn't make sense to release a bulletin for a new lamp WITHOUT a SPD to go along with it. Pretty dumb.

The Agro has a temp of 3000k AND they show a SPD for it. This greenpower "whatever" has a 3200K and NO SPD. Sounds like bullshit. Probably just an old listing of a product that never made it to the market and they decided to go with the Agro or something.

Ordered the 315w Philips fixture yesterday, I chose the agro bulb. I just hope the reflector will be able to cover my 80x80cm tent properly.

ps. could someone tell me why my buds get frostier under the 250w retro white than the 400w retro white? Does the 400w have less uv-b or something?

[edit] It came.

Get some orca film, it's worth it.
The 315 Agro, should cover that pretty well, using sog or scrog techniques and the greenbeam luminaire.

Ok I stirred up a bring ruckus with my last question but I've decided I don't really want to wire up my own ballast kit I just wanna buy a plug and play S51 ballast to run the retro whites.. can anyone reccomend one? thanks
