On my first run the 315 Agro was a slightly better yield than a 600 hps.
The second run will be coming down in a few days and it's just as good!
So good in fact that I will be adding another Agro system and replace my existing leds.

Yep, I have a whole case of the 930's and that damn Agro is singing a siren song to me! I've been very impressed with these, and really want to see what the enhanced red spectrum of the Agro would accomplish.

It would be very interesting to see what a room full of Greenbeams + Agro would do compared to roughly equivalent HPS lighting.

What ballast do you use for that wattage? Would a 400w mag hps work or what?

When I move out to washington later this year I will definitely be investing in the 315s... If you ask me, they drop it hard on the retro white 400w... Those things do something like 28K mean lumens compared to 315w Elite with 31,500. 4x @ 1260w compared to 3x 400w retros @ 1200w!

Retro whites are old tech now.

315W CDM Elite ED37 Universal Mogul Base
Photosynthetic Photon Flux PPF 1.82 umol/s
Operates on the Philips Advance electronic ballast IZTMH 210-315

Check out that UVB!

Damn it, I'm really regretting not looking at these bulbs sooner before ordering the 330w Allstart!

So ya, what ballast would I use for the 315W?

$72.00 for the Agro!? Count me in...... However, when I look at that Utah State data, the 942 looks okay as well.

I have a 930 & 942, so why not complete the deal and pick-up the last family member? LOL

Holy shit! This is the same elite Agro that was selling for about $500
when you can find anybody listing it?!??! That's $20 less than the 942
I just bought!! Could that price be correct?

It's correct. I ordered one as soon as I checked the new link! The shipping is a bit high at $18, but overall it's a smoking deal.

How can u compare a 1000 watt to a 315 ??? Bc of the price ? Please don't tell me ur really not saying that ...
First off POWER consumption is KEy of course ..a 1k is gonna draw way more power and put off WAY more heat ..how can u even compare them ?

A reasonable comparison would be to a 400 hps ..and as far as production goes see @ RIVES PIC ..that is challenging a 600 watt hps easily ! For half the power and heat ..I'm sold

Also I don't mean to sound too prickish but all your comments have been negative in here ..he'll there negative in 95% of your post in most threads ..you my friend are a hater in every sense of the word ..it's like if everybody agrees the sky is blue u say its red ..and challenge all to disprove that ..u prolly grow some nice plants but ur attitude sucks

I was not comparing 1000 to a 315 watt CMH i was asking actual cost difference of CMH complete set to a 400 watt set up
and what expected yields are going to be i mentioned 1000 watt as there pretty much 200 bucks for a complete set up including reflector
Now if its going to cost a person 500.00 bucks or more to get into a 315 watt CMH complete set up from scratch ????
which i don't know the actual cost and to use it to get 300 - 400 grams in like 70- 90 days then yes the cost out ways the goods right for the same amount of money spent you can be in the 1.5 - 2.5 pound mark in same amount of days
what i was more getting at is using CMH as supplemental lighting with HPS now that might work out well

Are you referreing to the material that cycloptics have on their website, or is there a comparison paper including the 942 bulb too? Thanks!

315w CDM's, Veg+Bloom @ 55 days.

Mr. Rives, wow! Very, very nice! How long are you taking them?

I believe this (from the greenbeamslighting.com site, which appears to be cycloptics's storefront site) is what is being referred to:

Nicely laid out.
Judging from the author's pics in upper R hand corner, the Utah State guys are pretty zany...

They are probably going to pull them and then remarket them for horticultural use at double the price tag. Thank-you for that greenbeam pdf. Great information.

I just checked out their store and LOL'd at their prices. $1000 for a hood, ballast and bulb...

Like I said, not cheap.
The amount of science and engineering that went into this thing is massive, all done with the scientific community.
As far as I know, the whole thing is made in the USA by hand.

I went from a 1k to a 600 hps to the 315w agro system.
All the while increasing yield on less power.
For me the results, and the lower bills for AC and power makes it well worth the money.

How much would it cost to cover a 3x3 with leds?
That would be a better comparison.

So you're getting more yield from the 315w compared to a 1K hps? And you're covering a 3x3 area with it? That initial price is pretty hard to look past.

Particularly in view of lamp longevity claims by the ballast manufacturer. The price tag is steep, but considering the power consumption, light distribution, impact on cooling, re-lamping costs and how much the plants appear to like the spectrum, it would be very interesting to calculate the payback.

If you take a look at the thread that Lazyeye has going right now in the LED forum, he is trying to find the best LED for his 3' x 3' tent and is talking about a budget number of $2000.

In short, yes!

Reves grows SCROG and I do SOG.
The limiting factor in both grows is now bud density (how many buds can you get per sq ft)

Weather you use 315w or 1000w only so many buds will fit in the space.

Now if you want to grow trees, that may be a different story, but for 2 foot tall plants, growing budsicle, it's the shit!

For that price it should at least be silver plated an autographed ;). Come on, you can't charge that amount of money even for an efficient vertical reflector.

On the other hand: it depends which you are replacing! ;)

Did you really grow with 1000W in a 3x3? In that case I understand why you are getting much better results with a lower wattage.

Tent is 5x10, tables are 3x3. 1k was overkill for one table and not quite enough for 2.
During the summer time, heat was a real issue as well.

In my situation, 2 of the 315's should be just right. (Goldilocks zone)

I'll bet, if you call them up you could get an autograph.

ah could someone please repost the info for the digital ballast to run with the 315w cdm elite agro... cheapest source... thanks
also i might add to give this post some substance that I have switched to arcadia 12.0's from lightyourreptiles.com for UVB. by far better than what I was using.

can't edit yet... must be some trophy for most time lurkin'. :lurk:
The only ballast phillips provides is p.n. Iztmh-210315-r-LF
input voltage only 200 or 277. price - $350 (!)
any help appreicated
