Ceramic Metal Halide (CMH)

This may have been answered somewhere in the 160 pages (I actually have read most of them), but...

If one were to supplement CMH with the HO T5 colored bulbs, what would the recommendation be, and how big a difference would it potentially make?

One possibility I am mulling would be a 2x250 watt CMH armoir, would 1 of each red and blue 24watt tubes be the way to go? This would be the flower room, by the way. The veg would be 110watts of CFL (2x 55watt tubes).

I was thinking the blue and red tubes on the back wall, and the 2 250 watt CMHs permanently mounted up high, with a perpetual organic soil SOG.

Stink,
ya i cant say how much better the results are when you add a Red T5 but i can say there is an improvement, (the red and blue can grow without any other light source and does a Great Job especially compared to 3-6K T5 lamps..
if you had a 400 cmh id get 2 red and have them on either side of the cmh near the walls.. it all depends on setup and current watt usage.

Im hoping someone that has used the Pure Phos T5s will post pics or there view..(they are like the new cmh gonna take a while to gain customer demand (only cause they dont know about them yet)

Philips true red & blue T5 bulbs in flower

Same fixture with 3 red, 2 blue & 3, 3000K bulbs - rather like an american flag, eh?

Basically, anybody who uses T-5's should install these bulbs or at least mix them with the reg 3-6k china cheapo's shipped with most fixtures.
The quality of the Philips is very appearent next to the others.

Will the CMH work in a P.L. 400 w hps balast with a 15 ft lamp cord?
If I order this bulb, and it doesn't work, can i return it?

ya it will work fine with a PL they used good gear (dont know what they use now prob still The Good stuff)
Depending on age (pl ballasts can be found old as hell still working, strong guts) it may want an ignitor soon but 15' is no prob.
depends check there return policy..

I've been growing with CMH now for 3 years - a whole bunch of grows. I don't grow with anything else. The output is squarely in PAR, the plants don't stretch nearly as much as they used to stretch and the buds are as tight as mother nature can make them. If there is a lamp out there that is superior to the CMH when it comes to delivering PAR watts at the canopy deck, I have yet to find it and I have tested soooooo many lamps through the years I ought to have a job with a lamp manufacturer.

Gotta' love that ultra-high CRI and CCT. It doesn't get better than this....

Greetings all- last year when I found this post I bought a coupla these awesome bulbs, but never got around to rebuilding my plant room till this week. Just 1 day of CMH and the little plants are clearly in indoor plant heaven. And they are running very cool! I'm impressed and delighted! I have used many types of bulbs over the years, but these really seem to be about the best I have tried yet. Thanks for the post, I'll keep reading and maybe get some shots up when the time is right.

I talked to the local hydro shop owner today about getting some of these bulbs in. I gave him the part # and explained how they require a HPS ballast.. hopefully I can get some soon! If he doesn't get them for a decent price, I can get them online, but I mentioned that they are $50 or so online...:dueling:

Quick ballast wiring question:

There are 9 white wires from the transformer: 3 capped (these must be hot!); 4 open stranded wire type (these are COMMON?)

Capacitor gets a COMMON white?

Many thanks in advance!(and to AdvanceTech!)
