Hey Tiger, good observation.
Yes this cut does throw out some nanners near then end, she'l do it earlier if you stress her too much. I believe she is also sensitive to light leaks probably from the Sour D side.
Its nothing to worry about they does produce a bit of pollen not alot and they are not true male flowers nor would i call it a hermie.
Iv grown out a few other CJ females and saw no male flowers, ive never heard of anyone having a full blown hermie from Casey Jones...Hope this answers your questions...Peace

Hiya Dr. D! :)
I was pointed over here regarding your quote,
"I believe she (Casey Jones) is also sensitive to light leaks probably from the Sour D side."

Well,Doc,Tiger was right & you're incorrect.
I'll explain.
Sour Diesel V3 is/was solid as a rock,The ECSDV3 is one of the most rock-solid of all the Sour Diesel generations-And it passed on it's lack of sensitivities to the Original Sour Diesel IBL V1.0,completely. (Fyi-SD IBL V1.0 breeding is: ECSDV3/ECSDV3.)

What I'm here to clarify:
The reason Casey Jones frequently shows intersex traits, and also produces full-on intersex plats is:
(Simply)
The pure, equatorial land-race Thai ("Billygoat's Thai") that was used in the CJ hybrid.
The inter-sexing shows, especially with repeated in-breeding,due to the Thai's dominant inter-sex traits when not grown in its' native habitat.
The LR Thai by itself will reverse in indoor conditions approximately 99.XXX% of the time,as it being a pure equatorial sativa,it doesn't appreciate dim-ass HID lighting-It requires billions of sun-CLOSE lumens, not a wimpy 40,000-140,000 or so lumens that indoor,HID lighting provides.
With the original CJ cross, the Sour Diesel V3 actually minimized the Thai's very strong inter-sexing inclinations.
In subsequent CJ in-breedings the Thai's intersex traits (which are fairly dominant indoors, not recessive) have been and will be popping up repeatedly more and more as no more original recipe stock has been released. Especially in anything less than a perfect garden, but even that won't help if & when the Thai's dominant intersex gene keeps rearing its' ugly head.
Over the past several years as people have made their own CJ knock-offs using CJ "f-whatever" seeds, without using the original P1 Stock, this issue has increased substantially.
The best bet for CJ would be to re-breed it using the original parents, but the original breeder no longer has those,he lost them years ago when people close by had troubles.... So,since that's not possible,IMO,because of the LR Thai involved,if a grower wants CJ,I'd say get it from a friend that has "old stock" clones or seeds from the original release, not an "inbred" version.
As to CJ "never reversing",it is my understanding that a bunch of "inbred/f2" CJ "freebies" donated to SB had to be pulled out of distribution because essentially all of them were true intersex plants.
So there goes the "CJ never reverses" notion.
CJ "S1s" I'd say as a professional breeder, are a shit-shoot. Maybe okay, maybe not. Just knowing that the Thai gene is there, waiting, like a boogeyman in the closet,to pop up and piss pollen in one's cornflakes (grow room) would make me VERY watchful when running those.
IMO run original Casey Jones from-seed or original stock clones,or imo,be uber-fucking-careful. UBER.
Well, this clears up the scientific reason for the CJ's intersex issues for y'all, and why the hybrid worked well the first time, but no so well without the original P1 Stock being used for the breeding.

Got some of those freebies. Was pretty excited until I studied up on their making.
They were thrown in the garbage immediately thereafter.:puke:

That was some KICKASS info from Rez, my CJ which I believe is the truecannablis cut, also made nanners in week 6 of flower, but it never pollinated anything so it didn't matter to me. Nice to know where that shit comes from though, my Casey didn't get light interruptions as far as I know.

Unbelievable smoke btw, has anyone else experienced that it can actually make you awake even if you're very tired? It's the first time I've experienced that, but that's probably cause I'm still a 2 year rookie :)

Damn, I feel like an idiot. I smoked this stuff in Amsterdam and have been in love with it since, but unfortunately, I failed to do my homework. I had no idea the casey hermied so easily. To hear Rez tell it, theres practically no sense in even growing these out. It sounds as though they will almost definitely hermie. I'm wondering if I should even bother with them. Problem is, I have five of them in veg and I really need to flower them as I don't have enough back-ups for the next run.

I'm an indoor nube and not very experienced with hermies and have already learned some hard lessons. I have a couple of lightly seeded plants in my room right now because of an undetected hermie.

I would love to hear from Connoisseur Genetics on this.

I guess my biggest question is why on earth would anyone breed with a plant that hermies virtually 99.xxx% of the time, as REZ has stated (no worries though. My second biggest question is why the fuck didn't I educate myself before buying?).

Forget what Rez had to say, i think he should look closer to home before he starts throwing accusations of hermi's around.......he has no reason to speculate on the work we are doing and the timing of his post tells me a lot.
We have run the Casey S1's without any issues, the odd nanna may show up but generally only towards the end when well flushed....../ there is no viable pollen or seeds produced.
With regards to the results of F2's the difference is that we never open pollenated sensitive stock, we selected a stable keeper and used her with hugh success. Do not panic about you Grateful Casey S1's, the only thing for you to worry about is the wonderful smell they will give off.
Peace

Thanks!!!!

Please understand I'm not trying to stir up the muck. I used a strain this run that I had been warned would hermie with the slightest stress. I had grown the strain outdoors and had great success and chalked the warning up to haters hatin. I didn't listen. Instead--like a fool--I rushed my plants into an unfinished veg room and had a slight light leak in my new flowering room and one of those plants hermied. I pulled it and thought I was being vigilant, but being a nube to indoor, a nutsack got by me and now I have a coupla seeds in one or two of my plants. No worries. Thats how beginners learn. But I don't want to learn the same lesson twice, ya feel me?

I'm goin to run them and just watch really, really close. I hope I don't have any problems...jeeze~!!~ I'm really, really looking forward to these!!!!!

BTW, got 100% germ rate on those beans. My $180 pack of Rez Chemdog IBL only sprouted six out of ten.

I have recently taken my casey jones (trues cut) to week 11 and we had no problems with hermies or any type of bananas but like DrD stated if your enviroment is not right she can throw a few harmless bananas and so far we have not had any pollinated buds from the casey bananas and ive had her for over 1 year in my stables.

I will get sum pics of my 11 week casey buds up with no bananas:)
