Ez---- As you can see from the thread today having a plan was my mission....Hahaha.. And thanks to all your help i actually have one now....

Grownz.....You can bring this door anywhere.....And it will be set up for any average inside door....Its going to work perfect....

Lucid--I should be able to make one from the pic no problem... What type of materials should i choose?-- thoes pics are my dream at this point...haha...this is def my first time doing this.... But they will be such a sweet reward!!! What strain??

As for what fy final plan will be-- The ceiling lamp will be removed and replaced by a ceiling vent which will filter into the attic...the way the house is set up i have an entire attic space only attatched to my apt..it can only be accessed from my bedroom closet.WHOOP WHOOP..Havent gotten one yet but will let you know what i went with...If anyone knows of a certain one to get let me know.

Im going to make eithor a 8x8 or 10x10 passive vent for the bottom of the door..So we will see how that works out..

I also picked up some Vinal Foam Weatherseal for the door. 3/8" wide 3/16" thick 17' long....perfect size for an average door... Cost about $1.50 and completly took care of my light leaks....

Sounds like a plan! Glad it's all working out for you.
Where i'm from a similar door would cost at least $80 brand new!
How big's the hole where the ceiling lamp was?

Good point on the ceiling lamp/hole. That's great you have access to the attic. OK back to your design so far. You will replace the existing door with one that has a vent in it. You want a light trap over this vent. Then a hole in the ceiling to exhaust into the attic. What's your power source? This will determine how much fan & lighting you can use.

Hey all.... sorry I didnt get back right away...BUSY DAY.....anyways back to the thread

Ez....I havent removed the light yet but from and eye perspective it looks to be about 8" or more in dia... Ill be removing light on friday so ill make sure to give measurments!!

K1llakron... I will be cutting a hole in the door...however, there will not be a hole in the door....I will be using a light trap..... here is a link that Icough provided earlier in the thread
http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=darkroom+louvers&btnG=Search+Froogle

or you can build a homemade light trap using Lucids methods......Check back to page 2

The light trap, store bought or homemade should allow air to pass thru to grow room but not allow light to escape out the vent....

Cool! Sounds like the is hole is bigger than I thought it would be. You going to buy one of those traps? A lot cleaner looking than a DIY.

EZ... i forgot to ask you this...

you mentioned Whats you power source? Do you mean how many volts or where im getting the electris from....I would imagine its your general 120v...

What do you think

IMO You need to get to the main power panel & find the breaker that supplies power to the bathroom & any other lights, or receptacles in adjoining rooms & how many amps the breaker is rated for. Add up everything that is powered by this breaker then add the lamp & fan. You have to be sure you can run everything & still have some amps left as a safety factor. This is real important not only for safety reasons but also the landlady is going to wonder why the breaker keeps popping.

watts / volts = amps. That's a rough calculation as power fluctuates/surges as lights etc come on.

Breakers are rated in amps. You don't wanna exceed 80% of what your breaker is rated for. Personally i don't like to exceed 70% just to be extra safe.

Hey again,

Grownz...my breaker is rated at 20amps--- So i should have plenty...

Let me know what you think and what i should be looking at...

I bet there is more than just the bathroom on that 20 amp breaker. You need to find out what else is drawing power from it . How many amps does your light use?

400watts is the bulb, not the ballast and bulb. Either way i'd say you're pretty safe with 20amps unless like EZB says it's more than just the bathroom drawing off that breaker. Either way, 20amps is alot.

Check out this thread, i posted some info in it http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=56099
and Heres a link to test your power source, and ballast/bulb combo - http://www.drugs-forum.com/growfaq/1672.htm
Intresting link, a 150w bulb and ballast can actually draw over 500w at start up. Although this surge only lasts a few seconds it's better to be safe than sorry..

Grownz...thanks for the info bro...Thoes threads helped to understand all this a bit better!!!

i ran my hps tonight for about 30 min or soo with a fan while i was testing and correcting light leaks. and didnt have any issues....I also found out that the light switch in the bathroom is connected to a different breaker than the bathroom wall outlets, so i think ill be ok after I install my ceiling vent....

Only thing i will be adding is my scrubber and it states on the fan the following
110/120v 50/60 hz
.33/.27 A

From what ive read that doesnt seem to be alot more.....But I will soon find out

I also spoke with a good friend whos a electrician and he said ill be fine....

Wish me luck

Looks like you're good to go. 20amps gives you alot of headroom too.
Having electrican friends is good! I have a close friend who is also an electican, he helped me understand my electrical needs many moons ago. I have learnt alot off him and continue to do so.

Middle of room?
