Cannabutter In 7 Easy Steps!

I too would like to know if freshcut, green, trimmings and leaves cause any negative impact to the butter? I get the feeling that the people posting here are using a dried/cured product. Call me lazy, but I like cutting corners if the the outcome is the same.
Thanks
Cinder

I feel like there would be more of a chlorophyll taste with fresh bud/leaf. sure it can be fresh, I feel like drying it is better!

cannabutter - how much to eat

cannabutter - how much to eat

Hey all -- I am new to this thread and just made my first batch of CB. Thanks for the step by step; very helpful. I was wondering how much of the raw butter to use? 1 tablespoon, less? I made only 1 stick of butter with very very good buds, and don't feel like making any baked goods and figured some butter on toast would work just as well.

Any feedback on the amount to use would be great.

Cheers.

You'll have to test it out before cooking with it. I make cannabutter pretty regular and each batch turns out different. What do you plan on using if for? I would spread 1/2 teaspoon on a piece of toast and see what that does to you. If its stupid potent, you can always add another stick of butter or so to it to stretch it out.

Just using it for toast, not baking needs. The batch is already made and ready to spread, but have no idea how potent it is as of yet. So 1/2 teaspoon you think is a good place to start?

Go with a full tablespoon and see where that takes you.

edit: on second thought only do that if you have nothing else to accomplish today

Hahahaha. I might try that after my spin class. I suppose full TEASPOON can't be that risky, can it? Tablespoon might be pushing it, however.

lol well eating any canna-butter during the day is risky. Especially if you have work to do!
How much bud did you use in that one stick o' butter?

OH and welcome to ICMAG

That's a good point. I am not sure how much I used, to be honest. It looked like an 1/5, but it has been a long time since I have seen an 1/4 measured that it was just eye-balled. But figure it was close to that. And some of the strongest bud I have had....if that matters.

hahah -- good point, but I can't work too well even if I smoke it, so I definitely would clear my schedule.

Try half a teaspoon or less the first time. Dont smoke before you eat or after for at least 6 hours (if it doesnt work). Try to eat that toast for breakfast or try this...

POT HOT CHOCOLATE
INGREDIENTS
1 cup Whole Milk
1 cup Light Cream
4 grams Cannabis
5 ounces Unsweetened Chocolate
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
5 tablespoons Sugar
Pinch of Salt
Pinch of Cinnamon

INSTRUCTIONS
Combine the milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan on medium heat. Once the salt and sugar has dissolved, add the light cream, cinnamon, vanilla, and finely chopped cannabis. Heat to just under boiling, and add the chocolate. Turn the heat off, and stir until the chocolate has melted. Serve in a mug, and top with whipped cream and orange zest, or stick to the classical miniature marshmallows.

NOTES
For every 8 ounces of milk, whole milk contains 8 grams of fat, 2% milk contains 5 grams of fat, 1% contains 2.5 grams of fat, and skim milk contains no fat. Do not confuse hot cocoa and hot chocolate. While hot cocoa is made from cocoa powder, it lacks the fat of cocoa butter; hot chocolate, however, is made from chocolate bars melted into cream. Unsweetened chocolate is also called baking or bitter chocolate, you could substitute with semi-sweet chocolate, but leave the vanilla out if you do.

you can also add the cannabutter to a cup of coffee and drink. That works, just make sure the coffee isnt too hot!

Very much thanks for the 1/2 tsp recommendation. Started with 1/2 teaspoon last night. I am REALLY REALLY glad I didn't try 1/2 tablespoon to start. It was a fantastic little ride, not too much either. What a wonderful concoction.

Another question -- How long will my butter keep its potency? Assuming it doesn't go bad, I could probably keep it around for 6 months or so -- especially given I only need 1/2 tsp. at a time.
