Can we solve the mystery LED deficiency before it takes over the world?

It starts out with a dull colored, dull looking sprout. As it grows, it maintains the "pea soup" coloration and dark glossy blotches form, often accompanied by a kink in the leaf (shown below)

As the plant grows, the leaves begin to curl downwards, and maintain the strange morphology.

The majority are effected. I see these signs in many LED gardens to lesser extent.

The below photo is color accurate. Notice the dark blotches near the petiole and mid leaf

Notice the glossy nature of the dark patches near the midrib of the below plant.

As the lesser affected plant progresses, the more affected plant continues to curl up and display deficiencies.

The heavily affected plants will continue to curl up and show any and all deficiency from the bottom up until leaf drop and it's inevitable slow death outruns the slow development of new growth, a process which can take several months.

That's an easy one. It's shitty soil. Full of uncomposted wood. The decomposition of the wood steals nutrients from your plants.

Look at these two plants, both in same soil, under same LED light etc etc. the only difference is that one has recently been repotted and has all the soil nutrition it needs... and the other one has been in the pot longer and is running out of root space. The variable doesn't matter so much but look at the difference in the way the leaves are presenting themselves to the light.
Happy one - the leaves are angled to receive the maximum light. this plant is happy and can keep up with the photons it is receiving

This second plant is starting to get rrotbound and is ready for a repot (i was waiting for it to show sex in that pot ) you can see the leaves are starting to curl away from the light and the green is fading a bit. This plant is cannot keep up with the quantity of light it is receiving.
Learning to read this difference will help

That should help, but the fact remains that your plant cannot 'keep up' with the amount of light it is getting, so maybe you need to improve the environment / nutrition to make it more optimum if that is possible.. or reduce the amount of light. I am a micro grower who grows with LEDs in very low height cabinets and often when i repot a plant (organoc soil) it will only be 'happy ' under the light for maybe a week and as soon as the roots fill the pot and its growing conditions become less than optimum they start to look like yours.

You might be surprised how high EC plants can be happy with under LED if all the other conditions are near perfect

I agree with VG - try up potting with fresh soil, and don't over water or over feed. I have used LED for 13 yrs now, and would not go back to HID. I generally go ph 6.1 during veg, ph 5.7 during flower, and usually around EC 1.2 - 1.4 concentration. Also use a light meter to keep my DLI @ 35 - 42, temp @ 70F night, 80-82F day.
Some say that there is an increased demand for cal/mag with LED, but I only use a simple 2 part fertilizer, and no other amendments. Have not had any unhappy plants.
I would say that the biggest problem is failure to provide enough root space- when you up pot you will get a good look at how the rootball looks, ie curling around the pot, browning of the roots, etc.
Also make sure there is good airflow in the grow area.
Jmho.

Wouldn't change anything except more of the same nootwater u are used to and more often. That is the one way you can change something but also change nothing at the same time.

It’s not the light, I am not suggesting you have light deficiency, I am suggesting you have perfect healthy floweing plants. If your desires parameters aren’t there upon checking run off then you just need to water more often and it won’t swing. You’re not doing aqua, u are using containers but it’s the same. Plants don’t feed unless there is water present to support uptake.

Nearly every issue ever seen with a plant is needs more waterings, larger container or needs more light. Very uncommon for the opposite…. . . . .

Hi Guys ... Thanks for all the replys .....
Like i Said ....i forgot to Turn Off the Lights Yesterday.... I was expecting everything.......but against my expectations they looked better then Yesterday .....i took some Photos but with the wrong Cellphone......🤦.....i will Update tomorrow......
I got the Temperature now about 26 celcius and rh around 70.......i cranced Up the light a little bit .. they drooped again....so i turned it down a lil bit.....WE will See what tomorrow brings....
I have to Change a few Things in Order to get the temps Up.....i will Put the tents in Line.....the Hottest First.....so IT can warm the Others.....
@VerdantGreen plants are Not root bound.....i transplandet them a few days ago......i am in Coco, root bound is my target.......
I will keep EC a little more on the Low Side.....my Tap is 0.4.... usually i start from 1.4....thats with HID ......never Had a Problem.....once a week i water with Just ph water, never Had Salt Spikes.....now i will start from 0.9.....and Work my way Up .....
Alot of people say ITS Not the light.....well,If you are growing over 20 years with HID Lights......then IT Sure IS the new Led lighting.....its a complete different ball Game ......
I will keep this updated

hi, glad your plant looks better, i wan't telling you your plants are rootbound, i was making the general point that you need to give a plant under strong LED light everything it needs to be happy or it will fall behind fast. watch out for the signs and don't batter your plants with light if they look like that as it will make the problem worse.

Little Update.....still struggling...... A friend of Mine gave me some new ideas.....he Said he Had Problems Like that too.....Said in His Case the smart pots was the evil Thing......the fabric was full of Salt Akkumulation......so i took 6 smart pots and put water on them.....EC 3.2 was the result.....6 smart pots in ca.2-3 Liter water.
Do you all think that could BE the Problem .. i mean roots touching that fabric and probebly get burnt.....i dont know.....since it is Just the outside of the rootball

Well that to be Said.....i am Always getting Salt Spikes Out of No where....the Last days been watering e0.9....today i took the Run Off and Most of them came Out 1.6-1.8.....one even 2.2

Good find and that is likely part of the issue, but not the whole enchilada… Smart pots are generally not good to use with coco, they dry out unevenly causing hot spots (salt buildup) in the medium, ph imbalances, and can contribute to root rot/death.
