Can we discuss bubblegum?

Yeah nannymouse you describe the original WL releases to a T..petit plants broad leaf, very quick to flower, loud bubblegum smell, sweet sweet fruity flowery flavour and daytime functional smoke, the girls loved it, was always a crowd fav. Plants be resined to the max and also very uniform from seed from WL, grow ten plants and they be much over muchness, so close..the most recent post 2010 release i grew seemed like and f2 of that, every plant under the sun coming out from long flowering pink haired sativas to indi plants with no bubblegum to wierd weak hybrid types that were very mold susceptible that had some remnants of the bubblegum flavour but volume 1/10 of original release, keeper was the long flower sativa lol that was more like a south american haze ! Miss that old bubblegum among others.

Well, the last of the bubblegums that i grew out, from very nice mix of male and female (just making more, no real selecting) turned out very NOT like the parents. These were seeds were grown out by at least two individuals, in very different areas of the country. No bubblegummy anything. This from parents that were so dang LOUD bubblegum in grow odor. Such a dissapointment. I was wondering if the 'new' lighting and different grow mediums could have made such a difference. Oh well, there are better fish in the sea.

I do like Bog's sour bubble bx3 x bx3 line. Still, to me, no real bubblegum smells (like what i've had before with bubblegum)...but nice plants, very uniform, and i would assume would be a great breeder, especially with its rock hard buds. I would think that it could add density to most anything it crossed with.

I grew out serious seeds bubblegum, I got from seedbay, last year, I've said before it was the old stock but i'm not 100% sure now I must dig the packs out..It is fem stock I see growing them out.. So I did find plants in there that smelled spot on for my old 2000's sensi/white label bubblegun/doublegum which BOGs bubble line was based on, and by spot on I dont mean close to or has aspects of, nor subtle, I mean even on a stem rub it's like ahh wow I remember that smell! ..I'm not sure when we germinated the rest or more of them, but we did as they were promising with the girls in first testing, and those now are 2 weeks in flower in for testing, and one is spot on LOUD bubblegum on the stem rub and early resin starting and looks very much like old bubblegum used to though they all did look similar in form. But I'd say from those beans I get a one in two that are bubblegummy and one in two of those, so one in four or five that is nice and loud, others be a more plain sweet...So either they were the old stock, or serious seeds managed to lock the traits down somewhat in the newer release.

Yeah what sensi sold later as the same are not, but very much like an f2, with one in ten girls having the terps but not the form, and the rest all over the place. That said I found this very special 12 week flower sativa girl in those later 2010 era sensi bubble/doublegum that was NOT what I was looking for and was very sad to loose years later. That plant had the high one dreams of, soaring heart pounding sativa which then would be super anti anxiety somehow and really chilled but cant sit on your ass weed, amazing weed to surf big waves on or get shit done for a few days while being stupendously ripped at the same time..anyway, I wonder if that was some bubblegum high with a wicked sativa edge LOL..the old sensi bubblegum would have a nice chilled happy vibey high, relaxing not too potent but really satisfying and really happy, the chicks would love it, tasted so yum. Everyone loved it.early 2000's we had widow for those who wanted to get really ripped and blueberry and bubblegum for everyone else that wanted the flavour..we had it quite good actually..LOL what I'd do now for any of those..

Recently though serious bubblegum, not sure which, think its actually that https://www.seedbay.com/product/serious-bubblegum/ which is out of stock, might be that, must confirm..it has come close to old more than any others I 've tried, if you have ten females you going to find one or two or maybe another very bubblegummy plants..as well last year grew out old school genetics 90's widow s1's that were yup just like an s1 of a decent cut of the 90's widow would be, a bit more variation, but very close and I would say that it is as advertised..so hope that most old stuff be revived as seeds get dug out stashes and stuff gets bred..chimera also has bunch of stuff that gives good representations of older stuff..there is hope yet! We found some incredible plants by modern standards in the old school seeds we grew out, even an old school cut of AK we have is still almost up there with the latest and greatest..breeding/crossing the old stuff from the 90's and the modern stuff that be ticking every box but lacking in smoke and in those children wow did we find some special stuff..and found vigour and resistance, long bred out..anyway way off topic here..I crossed sams old 90's skunk widow with old nl5haze stuff and found one plant that is loud spicey sandalwood hazey hazey but over laid and over powered with rotting fruit and roadkill dead animal, I shit you not...more leafy than modern stuff but frost is up there with any ice cream cake gelato bla bla..squeeze a bud and your stomach actually turns its so rank..anyway back to bubblegum LOL..its out there..thank you Simon ;) good work!

Na its because you took seeds that were backcrossed or f1's to make them relatively stable, and then f2'd them, which is where every combination of the grandparent genes under the sun, pop out..its what happens..though sometimes in f2 generation you find outliers that are very different and uber special but your hit rate will be very low..but all depends on the parent lines..genetics can be very simple or it can get really complicated LOL.but generally speaking, taking male female brother and sister plants and crossing them, you get the recombination of all the parent genes in novel combinations, but seldom all together in one plant or plants like the mom and dad were in their generation.

How inbred thats the question? Who knows..But I've seldom grown a seed from a plant and had it a spot on representation of the parents..Sure with landraces they will be but otherwise only with lines that are very close to being unhybridised IME.

I took this plant at 9 or 10 weeks, cannot remember at the moment and don’t have dates in front of me, but almost sure it was 9 weeks - coming down one week after the pics at 8 weeks were taken. So either 7 or 8 weeks of drying and curing. The time to sample had arrived.

Surprised at how little mass after they’d dried. Flowers were much airier than I realized and they dried into tight elongated sticks… Yesterday I replaced the screen in the bong with a clean one and fresh water as well. Smelling the jar of flowers I found a subtle sweet nose, nothing to make me think of Bubble Gum. I was surprised when I broke some up how much stronger smells got and I think I smell cherry on the back end. Overall a real pleasant aroma and possibly some might think of gum, but I doubt anyone would say it smells like Bazooka Joe pink bubblegum.

For the last week and a half or so I have been almost exclusively smoking on a BlueDigiBerry cross. It has a wonderful candy-like flavor. It’s very smooth and I can take huge lung filling hits without it coughing me out. It provides a great steady state of well-being with moderate duration that sends me off to sleep wonderfully. I have been ending my days with it. I mention this for comparative purposes. Thinking I could take the same big hits of BG was a mistake. It coughed me out, and hard. Reminded me of old school expando. Nothing to write home about regarding taste. And there was nothing steady about the ride, as it was a bit of a rollercoaster. I had a lot to do in the garden and just could not get into a continuous mode. Found myself gapping and spaced-out. Just staring at the plants a few times for longer than I should've. Even started to feel a bit of nervousness/anxiety at one point and had to slow down and ask myself why that would even be the case… if I hadn’t I think it may’ve even escalated into rapid heart rate. There were moments of psychedelic tinges as well. It was a good two hours after smoking before I was able to get into a necessary work mode and yet even at the three hour mark I could still feel the effects. Definitely reminded me of highs that seemed more common in the ‘90s. Overall a powerful smoke with legs.

It’s well known that Simon selected more to the sativa side of BG and I found that more than apparent with this one plant example, both in effect and growth/structure with big stretch. I think I might’ve taken her a little too early though. I have a cut and will run her again. The cut, taken at the same time as others, towers over the rest. The next two tallest are Sweet Skunk hybrids…

I have a friend who has a bubblegum in Co. I grew it..

It isn't indica though…It's more sativa and smells like skunk alongside the gum. Very pleasant, but would be better w/o the skunkiness

Maybe it's the Bubblegum clone knocked up by a Sk#1 male? Idk..

Don't like skunk. Claims a classic strain would be better without the skunk. Literally the only thing that sets that bubblegum apart from all these weak imitations. Name checks out.. Terpene shill. A Deskunked American dream.

The only reason I'd ever give Bubblegum a look is if it were that skunky one I copped once. Guess some people really do hate thiols. I always thought it was an act, pretending not to like dank weed.

Bubblegum is esters though. We call em esters now, not terpenes. Time to update your username to Ester Dream

Theirs. They grow it every year. But you go with wanting not having. Sounds better for you.
Hey man,
I have the Ind. Bubblegum S1 from csi, I’ll be good with that. I’m just distrustful of sites that look as if they’ve got the majority of their seed from Spanish mass producers. A lot of their lineup is also from other peoples work. Thanks for the link though, just not my thing.

I've got Bogbubble in the vault, but can't find much info on her apart from bogs description. Would be nice to hear from people that have run it in the past

Bubblegum from TH seeds is legit i heard.
At moment have cut selected from recent fems.
Nice candy straeberry smell with bit of garlic skunk at end.
Bushy and stocky plants with extreme resin production, rockhard nugs and flower around 8 weeks.

I got a bazooka bubblegum smelling one from either SOL adventure mix or TH seeds bubblegum. Unfortunately i didnt label them..

It smelt like pink grapefruits in veg, had extreme saw tooth serrations and produced very gummy resin.

Once cured the smoke coated the mouth with that sweet chalky pink bubble gum taste. Was a clear/crisp up high but had a little edge to it.

The hash didnt smell of bubblegum at all. It smelt of pure lime polos.

FDM has an Indiana Bubblegum bx2-they used a Serious Bubblegum male for the bx. It'll be one of the next few strains I grow. I love the Indiana bubblegum clone, one of my top 5 cuts of all time.
