Not true, the tenth amendment give the power to the states. The federal government are abusing their power, no doubt.

Absolutely agree with you, but it is still true-- They are getting away with it by using Federal Drug Scheduling and the Interstate Commerce Clause to involve themselves-- :tiphat:

Yep! But they have their own reasons, as I will outline below.

We predicted this in the Prop 19 Thread here...we knew it would happen, but the Anti 19 crowd was blind and deaf to it!!
I'm not saying that is the whole reason behind what is going on now...but you can bet yo ass it would have been a different scenario if 19 had passed--
I have to disagree with that assessment, and please let me explain why.

We know that 'they' (government on state and federal levels) know the income in just direct cash sales of cannabis amounts to. My take on it is that they not only want *in*, they want it for themselves. Our government has become highly corporatized, and if you examine both who staffs many appointed positions as well as who lobbies as well as funds politicians via PACs (PAC = political action committee, and it is through *this* avenue that corporations are able to fund with BIG dollars those politicians who are continually voted into place, over and over and over again--advertising REALLY WORKS), and add that to legislation and judicial decisions, and then add to THAT the fact that pharmaceutical companies are gaining patents and are doing testing that indicates they're ready to work with the plant, then you get the government taking over cannabis completely.

I expect it to become as tobacco was and distilled spirits are. You can have it, you can consume it, but you CANNOT produce it yourself, you may not have a hand in the business side of it unless you pay the fees, permits, taxes, jump through the hoops (i.e. are filtered out of the equation into becoming an end-user only), and they (our corporatocracy) will reap the benefits.

The only thing left is for rescheduling, and I expect that to be timed very closely with release of medications to the market. Make sense?

For these reasons, legalization would not have done a thing to change what's happening on a federal level. I feel that local municipalities are going to end up playing into this, but for different reasons (see my sig line).

Just think how many Prozac bottles would be collecting dust if weed was legal and freely available...

State Rights are at stake here and that's the only thing I agree with the republicans with. The trouble is most republicans are for certain state rights only.

If we have a financial collapse it is possible that the united states could fall apart into just states like the USSR or regions of more than one state could make a new country with their own currency.

Non-Violence is the only way so give me liberty or give me death but I wont kill for it. Wish I could live up to that but dont count on it...

O man, if the US divide up into different countries that would be crazy. Not sure if I would stay in Cali if that was the case. Head trip man, major head trip.

Cali all but guaranteed their Balkanization by encouraging multi culturalism and illegal immigration. The State's broke and they are too infiltrated to fix it. When they come asking for a Federal bailout and they don't get it, look out.

OK, so here is a simple graphic pointing out a few categories and how each President acted accordingly. I realize this chart could be broadened but it does tell you something...

This chart is of course missing:

Obama's DOJ's threats to State employees involved in the regulating of cannabis.

Most of all....the recent assault on clubs...there has not been a coordinated attack like this before, this scale anyways.

In the SFV, specifically the north western part, there were over 60 clubs. Today...not 1.

Really difficult for me to understand why more of us don't see through Obama's horseshit. He's just such a bad person. The guy robbed us blind and most of you can't even see it.

You do understand that treason means to attempt to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government don't you?

And because he's signed no executive orders everything has to go through Congress. So you might want to scold your Congressmen and Senators........

I was condemning Obama for TARP and his misguided stimulus for the most part. Obama is thick-as-thieves with Goldman Sachs. Obama threatened us with our safety and security if we didn't borrow $750 billion to send around the world and reinforce banks and entities knee deep in crappy financial investments they deviously packaged and eventually fell apart.

How many of you fell for that Wall Street Czar nonsense he's implemented... something like "the investors bill of rights". He's such a tool, such a con artist. Wrong President, wrong time. We needed somebody to come in and shore up spending, not take us to incomprehensible levels that leave us no room for financing anything else.

What do we have to show for all of Obama's deficit spending? My God the staggering amount of American future that a$$wipe pee'd down the drain. You could make a case that he deserves a very harsh penalty for what he's really done.

They all..in DC take an oath to UP-HOLD the USA constitution & the bill of rights! They are very far away from doing that very important job when passing laws like the one in the link above!! THE ONLY CONSTITUTIONAL CANDIDATE is Dr. Ron Paul! monkey5

See, I don't like that bill anymore than anyone else does. It's an extention of the Patriot Act.

Maybe the reason these types of Bills get through to be signed is because people don't really understand how they become Bills. These things are discussed by the Senate and Congress, worded however they decide on and if passed they go before the President to be signed. When are people going to start holding the ones that make these laws accountable?

I can't quite understand how the entire US Gov't can committ treason against the US Govt. But I guess you have that figured out. Or, if you really want change, you'll encourage people to contact their Senators and Congressmen and raise hell with them......

JJScorpio, Treason is when an elected offical operates for another country or against the USA! As in this fine example here: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=228692 ..That my friend is Treason! monkey5

I think the Constitution has been trampled on and stretched for years......

But it's become clear to me how it happens..... People sit and bitch about the President instead of laying into the clowns that write and pass these Bills...... And that's why it will continue to happen.....While you're sitting here cursing and blaming the President, some Congressman's probably drawing up another one of these travesties.....
