hi folks, we're out here in the Sierra foothills with two weeks left to go on the big girls (Critical Mass, Sour Diesel, Snocap); and IT'S RAINING! I'm OK with a day at a time, but I'm terrified we'll get mold on our so-far-pristine biggest plants. What would any of you do, short of chopping too soon? We have an excellent drying room, but it's heart-breaking to pull anything before it reaches its best. (we already did that once)

And a comment about mold and mildew: when I find it on my plants, I carefully cut out all signs, and spray peroxide (3 percent) on the adjacent areas. With mold, after cutting out, I use alcohol on q-tips to carefully clean any suspicious areas, and monitor daily afterward. I realize this may destroy a bit of resin, but at least the rest of the plant is safe and happy. Any responses from others who've done this?

Another comment: Our Bubba Kush plants were very small this year, didn't even make it to 3'. Is this typical? The kolas are fat and lovely, and about 1/2 harvested (we can visit them daily, so no biggie to wait for the perfect moment). They smoke OK even though a bit unripe, and we decided with such a small bud yield we'd rather have some unripe than moldy-ripe.

And the last question: what's you-guys' take on frost? How cold can it be before we would see damage? We had a scare last week (29 degrees) and covered the plants with painter plastic (long and tedious), but the OG Kushes were so tall we topped all of them and now we have a bunch of small, fluffy buds: no nugs at all. They're better than scruff, but nothing I would show to brag about -- unlike my Train Wrecks! (Thank you, Pot Fairy!!)

Love and abundance to all of good heart!

hello Elk Woman sorry to hear about your distress, i can completely understand and really there is only a few things you really can do...

i would shake your plants as often as possible to get the water out of the colas, make sure they are well tied up so they dont get too heavy and break.

the flowers that arent dense and are still forming up you shouldnt have too much of a problem with... the bubba kush would be one to worry about... mold usually doesnt just start from water but start from a damaged area and works its way out, if you start noticing dead leaves open up the bud and look for mold.

Best wishes with the weather and im sure someone else will have some tips.

if you can put a fan on them after it rains it will help to keep the air flow.

Totally awesome DimeBag
Most of my outdoor crop is a magnet for green worms, but I give them a good battle. My indoor operation is cranking up now, vegging away and looking promising, now if I can take it to stage 2 (More Power Scotty!!!!) it will be something special.

Harvest Fun

Hi all, thought I'd try posting some pix. If this works, I'll post a few more. We had a very interesting harvest season, which I would like to write about at some later date. Meanwhile, let me show off the crew that came to help. Several of them will be featured in my to-be-written account. The colas are Master Kush, from Bay Area clones.

CA is the best!!! I will never live anywhere else! I just find it hard to pick a county to stay in.

I'm in the Bay area right now!!!

Well then, your not invited to the cookout. Sheesh! Lighten up dude! ;) If you got some pics of better stuff, dont just say ya do, post em! We would like to see em, too!

We dont just grow, we produce elite genetics.

Blueberry ColdTrane .a.k.a. Blueberry Dreams or MM (Mikes Memory)

For this genetic we took our old-school arcata t-dub and crossed it with pollwn from a friends male SSH (SSH which he found from bagseed). from those seeds we ran a group test and selected plants. from those we backcrossed it with the t-dub, stabalizing the cross. then another patient sent us some blueberry (when we flowered the blueberry we realized it was somehting beyond DJs cross simply from smell and calyx strucutre. however by tthe time we got around to germing the seeds, the patient that had given them to me had passed on and his wife knew nothing of what the genetical cross was made from. we think he took his ayatollah mother and crossed it with dj's blueberry then backcrossed it again to the ayatollah. the name that as been going around with it is bluebery cold trane. but then a few people started callin it "Blueberry Dreams"...now we refer to it as (IMM) or In Mike's Memory in honor of a dear friend and patient of ours.

when I have more time I will show you some of our Hogrider's Cough :rasta:

Well, I don't live in CA. anymore, but, this plant was from bagseed which my sister sent me (along with some good nugs) from California. She still lives in the bay. A nice Indica, with a good couchlock high. For a year, I was on probation, and as of Aug. '07 I have been off, so my sis did me the kindness of sendin' me some dank and some seeds since I could smoke/cultivate again. This was my first grow after my forced hiatus. Just ordered some Nirvana Ice, waitin' for them to arive, then once I get some xtra $, will be ordering a lot more genetics, I reckin'. :rasta:

See ya 'round the bend!
