Week 7 - Part I

Week 7 - Part I

Cush and P91 update:

Cush is coming very close to harvest as the gorged out calyxes and bright red hairs show, but her trichome profile is only 80cloudy/20clear so another three days and she should be full cloudy - I don't think she really gets many ambers on her, being such an early finisher and highly THC cannabinoid profile.

P91 came back with a huge growth spurt this week, and put on sizeable head weight as well as decent branch filling. She is fully cloudy and starting to show one or two ambers on the samples from today. Smell is also starting to come out a lot more but still hard to pinpoint, semi-sweet (that afghan type of smell) but with clove or bergamot undertones.

gg: merci brotha, much love to ya. It's a combination of two of my favorite pastimes, I'm not so sure professional (yet) ;) it's a pleasure documenting as much detail as I can for the dank-tastic folks here on ic. I wouldn't have been able to grow these strains nor have the grow knowledge without this site - one love, peace and unity

yo sub, muchas gracias amigo :) that p91 looks frickin identical to mine right now - how many days was that photo taken at? Mine had the foxtailed top starting to develop since day 45 and I thought it was heat related - but now those foxtail buds plumped up like yours and it filled in at day 52 lookin like beautiful christmas tree top :) so heavy those top nugs are aren't day?! she plumps up like crazy in the end just like dabney did for me last grow... ms madness is back on its feet now after getting the GC treatment on tuesday - boy does that shit work wonders! Green cure is the one and only proper way to do PM right - take our word for it people - smells like nothing, dries without residue, doesn't affect bud/trichome structure, nor smell - I used it on plants that are due in 1-2 weeks! but I faced an issue yesterday in the garden with the frickin heat problem - being that ambient was 83ish yesterday my temps stayed in the 90s while I was gone all day and ice cream and madness once again saw the worst of it and had curled/withered leaves and some burnt pistils (i.e. change from white to tan) - without any delay I watered them before lights off last night and after the morning hours today they look fantastic once again (thanks to great genetics here). maddy has lost too much of her support leaves but was pretty much 100% white pistils before the heat incident - and I am surprised that she waited until past 50days to start changing colors - its definitely gotten so much fatter over the last week and pushing to finish with whatever energy is left in her (feel so terrible that the mildew got her so early in flower) - all is going to be fine though for the most part, pics will be posted shortly...

Week 7 Update Part II

Week 7 Update Part II

Hey folks -
Day 52: Ice Cream & Madness report

Ice Cream - looking like a big white fuzzy bush now, lost a bunch of leaves after the green cure spray down because the pm dies and the parts affected but unseen by teh naked eye wither and die and so its better to control this nasty fungus than to cure it. its doing super otherwise and the ice cream scoops are piling up on all the tops, probably done by weekend. smells very rich and smooth/soft like.. high grade dutch vanilla:

IceCreamProfileDay52.jpg

IceCreamTopDay52.jpg

Madness - this poor lady got so much shit throughout this grow, from intense pm to overheating to accidental long night once and accidental long day once and yet she is continuing to photosynthesize and utilize as much energy as she can... smell on her is sweet and tangy in a way but not citrus its something sweet smelling for sure though, very very sticky plant too... I can already sense the intense flavor and high on this MADNESS! ahhh another 10-12 days to go!

that MADNESS is looking righteous!!!!!!!!! ice cream too, but i am so happy to see the first documented grow outside the family lookin sooo sweeeet! great job keeping her goin thru all the crap youve had to put up with-told you she is tough!!!! you will be very happy-does not need more then a 3 week cure before her taste is done! i usually go 60 days before i really break into most strains, but she there after a few weeks.

the green cure is the shit-thats fo sho!

great job man-keep her goin.....sub

thanks sub - oh rastfari - oh righteous one - give madness the power to spring forth her serpentine flowers for all to see the delicate beauty that lies within! haha she is AH-mazing man I thought I would lose her after the attack like what happened with Strawberry Cream - I mean it was THAT bad, ready to be thrown out - but I had high hopes for her did my home made cure stuff til I got the real "Cure" haha bigups to you on spreading that wise bit of knowledge brotha - I know she can last another 10 days - I'm doing an alternating flush on her instead of my normal diehard flush - but she is soooo done there is not much nutrient left in the soil to end with anyways. I won't spoil anything now but I did try a sample of her a week ago at a mere 48 days of flowering and I'll just say I haven't felt more "tranquility" from cannabis than this plant gave me that evening - to be continued...

Garden Shot Day 54

Garden Shot Day 54

Cali Clone Cab nearing the end of this flowering term; first to go has gone...

IMG_2568.jpg

Cush was put into 34hours of darkness after the 52nd day of flower, with a trichome count of 80% cloudy 15% amber 5% clear - harvested this morning.

I'll post harvest pics of three strains at once following the upcoming two harvests early next week.

Madness is gonna go the longest, just a lil past 60 days (don't think she's gonna last much longer without the backing of foliar energy)..

They all are very plump at this point but I put on the CMH in the garden once more (haha I can't resist I keep going back to it for experimentation) just to see if the theory of UVB from CMH bulbs increase calyx development and trich production in late flowering.

Hey drag, superb grow so far sorry for the setbacks but nothing is perfect especially with grows right, glad to see that you handled it expertly. Question though, how did you put one of your plants into a total darkness cycle? Did you move it to another room or something?

phantom: muchas gracias amigo - setbacks were definitely a great learning experience
the way i put them in darkness is I use this 1.5'x1.5' and 2' tall plastic tub for isolating it from light and put that inside the closet corner somewhere. it has holes in the top so the plant can still breathe and mold doesn't grow. i then use the same tub with a bamboo stick across the inside to hang the plant upside down whole or trim the branches and hang separately. it's a great sized tub for my small grows, many more uses too, like for slow drying on a screen:

hope that helped bro

Cush & P91 - Finished

These two ladies have now been harvested and going through some drying cycles before I jar them up this weekend, so stoked about finally having fully organic meds to smoke without coughing worries! Some pics to hold you all over until the coming of the crazy macro shots ;)

Hmm...ic. I was thinking about doing a staggered DWC SCROG but now i dont know how im going to give one plant a dark cycle...i would move it into another box into a closet like you did but odor control is of 100% importance so that wont work especially that late in flowering...any suggestions? Did you use a secondary exhaust and odor control system in your dark box? Maybe i should just throw out the staggered idea....

lsl comment much appreciated thanks!

phantom - I didn't really have an odor problem because the holes at the top barely let much air out so the stink factor is easy to control - of course when I open the box to fan out the stale air it stinks up the room a lil bit. for this I just use a vaportron machine made by vaportek with the neutral smell vapor discs - not a single suspicion with it - even when I was doing all the trimming and shoebox drying now :) staggered should be okay I think, more manageable too so you aren't trimming a bunch of plants at the same time :) take care and best of luck buddy!

interesting....time to go back to the drawing board lol, i need to figure out a space to isolate the plant right before harvest, did you say that you had a 48hr. dark cycle? or longer? or shorter? and does the dark cycle correspond with the clean water flush? GC is my favorite strain and i havent really seen many others grow the strain and have a diary of it. Im planning to start with that one because the shorter flowering time will give me more experience, any specific things you would advise that help with GC?

Dark cycle - 24 to 36 hours
Clean water flush - last 7-10 days of living 12/12 cycle
Green Crack ended up not being much the real GC so my experience wouldn't be much help here bro =/

MADNESS day 60 photo update, three more days to go! isn't she BEAUTIFUL?!

Ice Cream - Finished

Ice Cream - Finished

Ice Creamy all done and a very impressive genetics!
Like I mentioned throughout this grow, she is prone to powdery mildew and overheating but those are easy to control. I topped her without giving much time to recovery vegatatively before going to 12/12 so maybe that's why my secondary tops kinda suffered in yield but the dominant top came out very nice indeed. I will give more details on the smell and taste later once her flavors have had time to marinade..

So today I tried the first of samples of the Ice Cream and was blown away!
It's a crazy intense smoke that produces very concentrated smoke and gives one the feeling of smoking a tobacco hookah from the lightness and fullness of the smoke. Taste wasn't all that palatable since samples were still semi moist and curing hasn't even begun. The effects were instantaneous and was entirely cerebral in nature - eye droop, scalp tingles, complete mental calmness, and very floaty high puts you the highest cloud possible - and the effects have been going for two hours now. Being so heady it surprised me that it didn't give me munchies badly... The body doesn't feel numbed or relaxed but the mind is completely in la la land haha awesome stuff to chill out and pick up a guitar or sit at a keyboard :)

Harvest - fans trimmed
