VG, thanks for the info, I'll post more pics from time to time. Seems like there's a good bit of interest in this cross, hope they'll turn out and show their best stuff. It's hard to imagine that they wouldn't, given what's in them!

Looks good Kief!, keep posting pics up!

Hey, thanks much Bobbo. I do plan to put up pics often with this grow. Also running some Sweet Tooth #4 along with the C4DDs. Who knows, might be something great from that mix!

Made some fresh pics today of the C4DDs at almost 4 weeks from breaking dirt. Hasn't been a perfect start but things are looking up and can't wait for these to put down some roots now that they are getting stronger, more stable. I'm sure to be going thru a learning curve with these, being my first go with them. These seemed to have used up the cotyledons very quickly, started them in 9 oz cups. They probably should have been started in 18 oz instead, looks like a 2-3 of these are already getting hungry and roots haven't started into the new soil after potting up to 1 gal last week.

I tried to get my camera settings on all these so they would look most like the actual plants as I see them under my T5s. No correction done on any of these for color or brightness. Think I got them pretty close.

The plant that seemed to give most concern so far is #7, still looking a lighter shade of green and appears very hungry. #8 also has some leaf streaks but not as much as #7, which is emitting an impressive degree of funk already, surprising for such a young plant!

The rest of the group including a close up of #7 showing new growth at first few nodes:

Would welcome any comment/advice and will be updating from time to time.

Looking good Kief! Please keep posting, would love to see how these turn out-plus these seeds are on my "to buy" list once VG has more.

looking good keif, the leaf fading looks to me like they probably go a bit rootbound in their small cups before being re-potted - and now are taking a few days longer to take off again. (this would also jive with you saying they should have been given a bigger cup)
perhaps the soil looks a bit dry too?

the same thing happened to my bubba x white rhino seedlings if you take a look at the thread - but i tried to keep the lower leaves out of the pics as much as i could :D

if the new growth looks healthy then i wouldnt worry about it

Yeah VG, I noticed during transpot to 1 gal. that the roots had hit bottom quickly, but hadn't formed much at the sides. Some leaves look like the cups were holding a little water at bottom. May have punched drain holes a smidgen high. That's all over now and plants all look much better now. Looks like #7 and #8 will continue the leaf variegation for now, maybe throughout the grow? I'm happy if they do, and sold on the possibility that It might be a plus! Predicting #7 to prove out a stinky, strapping young lad. No reason, just a feeling.

Quick update on The C4DDs. All seem to be liking the move up to 1 gal and appear to be thriving after couple of small hiccups. They're all working on 5-6 nodes and seem to be showing good color. I have a space for vegging that allows for good control for temps and RH, wish I had a bit more headroom in there though.

A couple of these already volunteering some Chem Funk aroma, can't wait!

Flipped these to 12/12 last night after about 6 weeks veg time and thought it a good time for some update pics. I'm planning to make a few beans for later if the right girls and boys show up, so next time I'll know better what these plants need starting out. All plants used up their cotyledons very quick and I should have known then to give'em some help with the nitrogen, but didn't want over do it. Also, should have started in bigger cups and I wouldn't have run short on nutes. Think I got'em dialed in now hopefully, just before going to flower.

I plan to sex these in the 1 gal size they're in now, take some cuts and then pot up. Depends on how many girls I end up with as to the final pot size, but 5gal is the biggest in can go, and more likely 3gal.

First time growing this cross, don't know how many phenos I have at this point, but I think they're all good. #7 is by far the most 'streaked' of the group and the stinkiest by a long shot. Kind of hoping this one will turn out a male.

VG, and all other contributors, great job on putting this one together. Can't wait to see how this group turns out. Got a good feeling about it already!

Kinda flying by the seat of my pants on these, so any suggestions would be welcomed.

A couple more over the top shots to show leaf size and shape, maybe gives more info to recognize some plants that others have seen. Really surprised at how much side branching undergrowth these are showing, much bushier than expected.

#7 plant, the biggest showing most vigor. My favorite at this point

#2, was the runt for a while but has caught up for sure.

You rock for making this cross. IMO the only legitimate solid straight CD line you can buy right now. I was sorely disappointed in Rez's finished IBL after growing everything out and haven't been able to find anything worth purchasing that was solid CD genes.

Great combination and thanks for keeping it pure.

Hey 40amps, thanks for your input and opinion on the great work that VG and friends have done to keep the Chem line available in seed form. This is my first go with anything involving the chem genes, but learning as I grow with this small but promising group. Can't say it hasn't been a challenge so far but I've been rewarded already just from reading all the posts and feeling the excitement from other growers who have experience with the chem line.

Hope I can do these justice and find something really special to keep.

40 - thanks man, yes i also saw this as a way of making a chem line that was 'pure' and backing up my beloved chem D cut in seed form - i think most of the offspring come out pretty close to the D or the 4. (although i'm flying a bit blind on the 4 because ive never smoked the actual cut)
looking forward to doing some work on this, i think it could easily take a bit more inbreeding, i just need to grow out a few rounds to make the selections which hopefully i'll get to later this year.
that said, i have just been gifted a Wreck D cut (from a pack of head seeds) from some kind fella, and its growth habit as absolutely awesome - it seems to form up dense buds all over the plant and doesnt stretch much - if it smokes as well as it grows i might do some work with that too if i can get the nod.

keif, those plants look great, very healthy green colour, not too dark. here's hoping they go into flower nice and smoothly and you get plenty of girls.
i think short height in veg is a good discipline! no point in having plants even beofore the stretch!

keep us posted.

C4DD grow....update

Wasn't much lucky with the girls, story of my life. Ha! Ended up with 2 out of 8 going forward. Not all bad though considering my limited space in the flower room. My veg room will now become a flower space for the boys left standing, bunch of great looking dudes to pick from, may just collect dust from all and hit the girls up with a mix.

The 2 girls were #3 and #5. These were two that I certainly hoped would be girls, so that wish came true. These two babes look great and will at least let me experience some chem smoke, plus give me some beans to play with later this year.

One positive note about the fewer girls and the extra space that's gained is that I can now and already have, upsized to 5 gal pots in flower for this round instead of my usual 3 gal.

I will update and include pics later as they start to show their stuff!

sounds like a good plan keif, 2 out of 8 is not brilliant, but it could be worse! and at least you will use the males as well to make some more seeds to play with.

Glory be, he's a she

Glory be, he's a she

Took another close look at the C4DD plants this morning that I thought boys, and spotted hairs on #2 plant instead of balls. Sure glad I was planning to keep these 'boys' awhile longer for possible use, otherwise a nice girl would have hit the compost bin! She's now potted up along with the other 2 girls, making 3 out of 8. Not bad at all considering the quality of the 5 boys left standing.

thats great news!
there havent been many reports of intersex traits in the C4DD but, as with any new, untested females, it's worth keeping a close eye on them all through flowering.

Here's a mid-flower update on my C4DD girls at about 35 days from flip. I'm planning to let these go as long as needed, maybe 70-80 days. Springtime is kicking in along the front range now, temps and humidity rising, almost perfect conditions for my setup.

Really impressed with the amount of frost showing on these at mid flower, especially the #3 girl. Very little stretch from any of the 3 plants, makes me wish I'd vegged a couple more weeks at least.
