Also there seems like there must be a whole lot more to this than your telling or know about. Cops driving by and watching you, It sounds to me like someone is mad at you and trying to get even. You said you had no priors , don't deal or grow so why all the heat?

either u were seen buying weed-and they thought it may have be u that was doing the selling-or someones put ur name in to em for whatever reason, thats what it sound like... Not that i really know about us justice, but i wouldnt think the DEa would come for a little neighbourhood dealer- in the same way as the drug sqaud wouldnt do that here-the local plod would do it....

so far its all a setup, and because your P.D. dept is so small, they are just probably spreading the word around to harras you to some degree. you gotta remember these cops like to feel more important than they already are, and they will lie. set u up or whatever to get this started. lowly ass cop just lookin for brownie points , since he has his nose so far up the DEA's ass, to make a collar. probably signed on to work with them to some degree. and you cant let the sight of a squadie scare you. they know people are normally afraid or intimidated by that horse shit. they're probably stopping by your home, sit on the cellphone (guys are talking to their boyfriends, girls talking to their wives) for a minute, do some BS paperwork so all can see and give a bullshit "visual" game.

i would get a lawyer and have him talk to the arresting/ charge pressing officer and all that. i mean it doesnt sound like your the type that causes problems and gives trouble, especially if your nose is clean, then any judge would see this and toss it out,and more than likely be pissed with the cops for wasting the courts time. these DEA, COPS, are some low payed, lowly thinking lowlife "leaching off of good peoples backs" types of people.

these asshats are still using these old ass scare tactics to get what they want. i would agree with everyone else that has said to get in contact with your local NORML and get the proper advice and help. i know its your first time dealing with this, but you got into, and got caught up. the MAIN problem is that your dealing with with two really well dressed scum bags and a brown nosing bottom feeding cocksucker looking for a "comeup"; once you remember that, then all will be well and treat them like the bottom feeders that they really are, and dont let them scare/intimidate you!!!. notice something: they always wanted to talk to everyone "privately", why couldnt they talk to your mother with you present, since you are the main topic of conversation anyway? and what woerked for her is what they are trying to do to you. AND TELL YOUR GIRLFRIEND TO BE STRONG ABOUT IT TOO!! DONT LET THEM GET TO HER IN ANYWAY, SHE HAS TO BUCK UP ASWELL

nothing they do ever smell right. go through it, you will come out on top and take it as a learning experience and learn some more for next time, and REALLY hand the next cop his ass if they try anything else. seems as though the DEA is trolling around your town, find out your states cannabis laws and see if your in a hot state, then youll know whats up.

Maybe but I doubt it. Once the arrest is made, the case is handed off to the DA. The officers are no longer involved and move on to finding someone else. I am sure they can cooperate but unless its a big case I doubt it

yea, no priors at all, no dealing, no growing, no idea on the heat. thats why i was so surprised and upset at this whole thing. they basically raided looking for a pot dealer and just got a pot smoker.

a friend of the family is a sheriff, he talked to the officer and the officer "claims" my name just kept comming up and that he personally saw me sell a bag to someone in front of my house through a car window and that they had been watching me for a while.... which confuses the hell outta me because a) how did my name come up? i work, i play video games, I STAY HOME! (also no record) lol. b) personally saw me sell a bag in front of my house to someone through a car window? bs... i dont sell, the whole reason i wished growing was an option (which it never has been sadly to say) is to get away from that "bad element" and to be self sufficient. Also if he saw me selling a bag in person... why not bust me then and raid my house when u actually have probable cause?

Anyway, thanks for all the great advice everyone i really appreciate it a lot. good to know that i'm not "completely" alone.

Not so sure it is due to your local dealer, but that is a plausible possibility..

I feel like they would have pressured you about where you got the weed if that were their intent. They don't want you to have time to give your man a heads-up about DEA in town rolling up on his customers, at least without the shot to give him a visit first. They also don't want you to have time to chat with your lawyer who will tell you that you have weak charges that won't carry enough penalty to be worth ratting anyone out, even for the rat type. Having been through this, they always strike with that stuff when you're most distressed, which is at the time they are up in your house or after the reality of jail is settling in if they have you on something serious.

Might want to give a long hard thought about who else the weak link could be here.

Maybe that kid you thought was a little sketch who you've only seen at a friend's house a few times.. Maybe a friend of a friend's roommate or something.

Sketchy people bring up random names when they get popped, even if they know nada about what that person is up to.

That is some DEA stuff right there too - when they give someone a deal for names, they get that person to give them LOTS of names, even if those names are just of users. I've seen this happen.

As for the legal side, follow everyone else's advice, not guilty, then let lawyer work it out.

Keep your head up, and make sure you make amends with your mom over this.. I'm sure it was quite traumatic for her - some flowers and a card or something might be a nice way of letting her know you're sorry about the trouble.

Anyways, there's my (possibly a bit more, cause I'm rambling on this one haha)

A couple of points:
1. Never give the police permission to search your car, ever, for any reason, even if you think you have nothing there.
2. Never open the door to police, or anyone you don't know.
3. Plead not guilty. The amount is so small, they will probably not pursue it.
4. If they persist, ask for a jury trial. Trials cost the state a lot of money. They will not pursue it.
5. Remember, they are trying to intimidate you into giving up names. Do not be intimidated.

yes getting shorted is fucked, and thats a good reason to have one. But the po po don't see it that way. they find a scale and they think sales. If you have been getting your smoke from the same guy you know if he is honest . Like everyone is telling you don't weakin and start talking. One of the first things the narqs ask me was do you know any one else growing? this charge can all go away if you help us get someone else. Don't talk, they don't have shit on you.

josey, maybe this will ease your fears a bit...i got busted for growing in '99 in nevada just before meduse was legalized and had a similar amount of plants. i was given 2 years probation but only spent 13 months on it before i got my toking license and probation was then ended because the judge and even the hardass p.o. thought it was silly for me to be on probation for something i can do legally now.

yea, i can understand police seeing it as sales, cause most of them are assholes even when you are honest with them. I have ran in to a few cool ones ... but far and few between. I didn't use the same guy everytime thats why I did have the scales. Not that I don't think people are honest but most dealers don't use scales outside the house... so chances are if they eyeball your bag it could be a few g's off (if your lucky it's a few g's off in the upward direction instead of the lower.)
