Burmese Pure (sativa) X Auto Hindu Kush turns auto

I made these seeds a few years ago and found them in the seed bin recently when I was rooting around for something to grow. I had 3 gorgeous Burmese Pure females from Reeferman from homemade seeds that have been growing for years and two Flash Auto Hindu Kush males and let the whole thing get covered in pollen. I got hundreds of beautiful seeds from each female and kept them seperated. These plants were on 24/0 light in the vegging room and 24/0 in the flowering room. They were re-potted on dec 14th at 3 weeks old.

Here is a photo at three weeks old after re-potting. The two in the square pot were the smallest and weren't quite ready to re-pot and the dirt crumbled away from the roots a bit and they kind of wilted a bit. They soon recovered quickly as you will see later.

The very next day after re-potting the tallest plant in the square pot showed a couple of female hairs and the second day the shorter plant in the square pot showed female hairs while still under 24/0 light.

Here's a photo of the plants a week later on day 28. As you can see the two females have totally taken off compared to the other plants and were starting to flower under 24 hour lighting.

These photos are of the tallest female on day 28 from seed. Still under 24 hours it's starting to flower nicely.

The Burmese Pure according to Reeferman who used it in Bodhi is one of the 3 strongest sativas in the world. I grow it because I searched for a compatible land race sativa that could grow in my conditions which are always cool, a bit low light and not too tall. The exotic herbal smell and taste are fabulous and the sativa stone is very strong. The Auto Hindu Kush is from my own seeds that I made on my previous thread about it and I found it quite strong.

It's my experience with Burmese Pure is that it dominates all my crosses with it. So I'm hoping for a sativa stone, but when I rub the stalks and smell my fingers it is very strong sweet skunk/Kush.

is this burmese pure related to burmese kush?i thought it was indica but ive never grown it.i almost got a cut of burmese kush but the grower scrapped it before i got to him. bummer.

No, this is Reeferman's Burmese Pure. It is a landrace pure sativa from the Burmese mountains. Burmese Kush is a BC variety crossed with Kush. Mine will be Burmese Kush in the end, but the Burmese I used is pure sativa. Burmese seeds are still available in BC but they are not pure Burmese they are part indica.

These are the two females on day 30. You can see they have really jumped after being put under the flowering lights. They stretched 6 inches a day at first but now they've settled and started to flower. They look like the Burmese Pure now which is encouraging. Even the Burmese hardly stretched that much although I grew it under a 430 son agro and now I am using led's and cfl's and a 180 watt grow panel with uv and infared added in a bit.

Right here the tallest plant was about 20 inches from the soil and the shorter female was starting to catch up, I guess because it's not making as many flowers just yet.

Still on day 30 you can see the whole six plants. Four have stayed quite short, about 6" for the smallest two and 8 inches for the two middle sized. The top right and the bottom left have been showing male pre-flowers for a while but they just aren't very impressive and don't seem to be growing although the plants are growing a tiny bit. The two smallest plants are not showing any flowers at all.

The close up shows the bottom branches of the tallest female starting to flower. I like the growth pattern a lot because the branches are quite long and stick right out into the light. The plants seem very sturdy and happy.

This is the tallest female on day 32, still on 24/0 light schedule. I'm pretty sure I can call the two females 'auto' now, but the two males and the smallest two are still asleep.

The problem is that if I want to make seeds and keep on trying for a stabilized Burmese Kush Auto I need pollen. The males are just sitting there and haven't moved for many days. It's obvious to me I have 2 auto females, 2 male regular photo-period males and two other plants that are photo period. I've tried colloidal silver before with no luck. So on Dec 25 on day 32 I switched the lighting to 12/12.

Here is on of the males on day 32.

A couple of days on 12/12 and the two males have started to stretch a bit.

Definitely interested in this... I'm trying to get some Burmese Sativa in my life...

I want to breed with her too for the same reasons.. Right now I have some Raspberry Cough which is Cambodian Sativa Landrace x Ice which is somewhat similar. They are definitely looking 100% Sativa so far.

Can't really find much Burmese stuff ... VISC (vancouver Island Seed Co)... THey have, and Chimera has some stuff. It would be AWESOME to have some autos like that incase of emergency.. Hobo survival kit.!!

The only pure Burmese I ever knew about was from Reeferman. The Visc Burmese is mixed with indica, and I have never grown it. It's possible it is similar to the pure because I have found in all my crosses that Burmese Pure is dominant.

The only place I can find Burmese now is in Reeferman's 3 way cross called Bodhi made with (he claims) the three strongest sativas in the world. I would be growing it now but I am into Auto's.

how do these autos yield?they look really nice.the stems look like they could support some serious weight.

I don't know. I've never grown this cross of mine before. I know the burmese was a pretty good yield but the auto Hindu Kush is a tiny plant. These plants are just starting to flower, but they look fast. They look very sativa to me so they might not be that great, but I just have to wait and see. They look even more sativa than the Burmese Pure, so they may have reached back and brought in one of the original sativas in the auto line. I'm hoping the smoke will be worth even a small yield. The next few photos I post you will be able to see the growth.

Four days after the switch to 12/12 the two smallest plants showed female flowers. So that makes 2 auto females, two regular females and 2 regular males. I'm picking the flowers off the male plants now and eating them---mmmm---until the females get more flowers.

Everything seems to be covered in crystals. I can't make up my mind whether to pollinate the two regular females or not. Who is to say they don't hold the auto gene?

The flowers on the largest plant on day 37 from seed are starting to fill in nicely. There seem to be a lot of nice crystals showing.

This male on day 39 is really trying to get ready to flower now since the lights are on 12/12 and here is a photo of the smaller female on day 39 as well. She seems pretty happy. The males jumped 6 inches in one day when the lights were changed but now they seem to have settled down.

I just love the Burmese Pure which is a very special land race sativa. It grows in Burma high up in the mountains just underneath the cloud layers and into the clouds. This is a low light area and the light is very blue because the reds are filtered out by the clouds; therefore cool white flouros are very good and metal halide is best but I use cool white light right through flowering—no extra bulbs needed. It is very cool and damp in the mountains and therefore the plants are mold resistant. I grow in the basement which is cool in the winter and cool in the summer from the air conditioner. The growing season is very short with early frosts. After many hundreds of years it has adapted to these growing conditions. These conditions are similar to ruderalis which has low light due to the angle of the sun, cool conditions with a very short growth cycle with early frosts. Similar to ruderalis Burmese Pure has a very short growth cycle 63 days and is short in stature at 5.5 feet and bluish leaves. According to Reeferman it frequently shows PRE-FLOWERS even under 18 or 20 hours light cycle. This is what I have found as well and when I switch to 12/12 it just bursts into flowers. Because it grows in very similar conditions to ruderalis it has turned into a race that is ALMOST an auto. So, it is very possible that crossing the almost auto with auto Hindu Kush that the first crossing would show auto. Also Auto Hindu Kush is one of the originals and has a heavy ruderalis quotient. It also might be mountainous as is the area of Hindu Kush.

I didn't think about Burmese Pure being an almost auto. I just made the cross because I love the Burmese Pure and was planning to make many generations and filter them out for auto. It's very easy if you just grow on 24 hour light cycle and throw out the non-autos and keep the auto males.

However when this happened, and I got the autos on the first crossing, I thought it was very interesting and that it would be interesting for the forum viewers to see.

I always grow from seed and have hundreds of seeds of this cross from 3 different mothers and two different fathers. It's easy to pop a few seeds and put them under 24 hours with my other autos and try to stabilize them for auto.

My next project might be interesting as well. Upstairs in the vegging closet I have 2 Muay Thai auto a few weeks old in 5 gallon pots and waiting in the crisper are 8 seeds of Flash Auto Lemon Haze non-female. Hopefully I can get a male and make some nice seeds of Hazy Lemon Thai. I'll let the Muay Thai get ahead a bit and then start up the non-fems.

Also in the mail are coming seeds of Flash Auto Diesel Haze non-fem and of course the best sounding auto sativa available at this time in my opinion the feminized Flash Auto Tutti Fruiti....a complex crossing which should be a real winner. I read a review of a California medical patient who just loved it and went back for more and bought a lot in case they ran out. I must make some seeds, I just must.

These are the plants today on day 42. The smaller female on the top left has taken off and has easily caught the tallest one at about 30 inches and started to thicken much more. The male on the right has also almost caught up at 28 inches (don't forget his soil level is 3 inches lower). Take a look at the lower branches on the males, as they are starting to bud really nicely on long pertrudeing sticks.
