building a secret room in my apartment

Its not about my access rights so much as about who has a key to your apt. The law says this that and the other thing, it also says you cant grow LOL

If you rent an apt its almost the same as owning it to the courts. while you are under a lease its basicly yours.
But ...and here is the big but, if I feel your apt may be in danger of Flood or Fire etc.etc. I am required to enter it to make sure you are safe. and the property is safe.

If you own your apt I would guess your talking Condo some of the questions I would have are.
1 Who has a key to your home?
2 Do I have a maintenance agreement with anyone?
3 Do I share a common wall with anyone?

These things could get you in trouble.

Again this is not about anyones rights or what the law says, its more about who could enter your home with a key.
Many people grow in apts very successfully But to think that someone who has a key to your apt cant go in because of what the law says is foolish. If the law held that much power we wouldnt be talking because it would prevent you from growing in the first place.

Ther are basicley 3 typs of maint tec
The first will bust your ass and be damn proud of it.
The secound will ignore it, he dont want the hassle of turning your apt etc etc its none of his buisness as far as he is concerned.
The Last will ripp you off.

No matter what kind of maint tec you have he is not going to let you Kill someone with an unsafe grow.

Cutting holes in walls running wires around everywhere modifying electric conponets etc etc Will piss off a maint tec .

SunBursT, What would you say to answering a few questions?
-I have a cab setup with a hole cut in the wall and two 4" HVAC tubes running to the other side. They are connected to my carbon scrubbers. I have it all pretty well hidden with clothing and random stuff hanging from and around the scrubbers. Would you say I’m safe from the Matenence guys asking questions or looking closer? It's in the utility closet where the water heater, Washer and dryer and the AC/Heating unit is.

I always put away any thing smoking related before I leave the apartment, pipes away smoke in jars and hidden away EST... I also keep the cab locked up. I have 4 security cameras that record both entrances and both main rooms of my apartment when motion is activated. I have seen the Matinece guy on them once to come change my furnace filter; he ended up doing that real quick and persisted to play with my dog. I always say hello to him and he loves my dog. I'm sorry to bother you but I just want to make sure I'm not getting my self into any trouble.
I'm thinking about moving my scrubber ontop of the cab but then my bedroom would heat up and the same hot air would go back into the cab. It works really well to be able to vent to the utility room.

lol with sunbusrt we have a man on the inside. so if you have a cab and someone enters ur place for a fire flood ect they cant break into your lock cabbed right. they would have no excuse and it wouldnt hold up in court right?

I would not run anything to a Mechanical room IE Water heater closet If it starts leaking im going in it. and then you get to see what kind of maint tec I am. and you have already pissed me off by cutting a hole in one of my walls.

I have no buisness in a Cab. But if thats where I smelled the smoke coming from???

I would guess many times most of this would be kiked out of court I say guess because im no Lawyer. But our goal is not to have the charges dropped but to not get busted in the first place.

Badge I have seen your cab. Very Sweet. Im a busy maint Tec so I wouldnt give it a second look myself.

I never go into peoples bedrooms unless I have been asked to by the resident.
Most of my work is on Plumbing Heating etc. This keeps me in the Ktchen bath and hallway.
If you bathfoom shares a wall with your grow room I may have to enter it if a water shut off is in that room. I would look for an acccess panel in your closet this is very common in apts.

I WOULD put a lock on my grow room. I would also have a pet deposit weather I had a pet or not. A small note on bedroom door saying CAT INSIDE DO NOT OPEN will keep me out. Even if I need to get in it I will rescheudle. I have no wish to chase your cat around all day trying to get it back in that room. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PET DEPOSIT IF YOU DO THIS.

I am always happy to help , I cant help with your grow as Im a noob But with this I can so feel free to ask anything or pm me. As im not a lawyer any thing I say about the law should be considered Bullshit LOL

I've got a closet about the size as yours and have just recently built a cabinet in it. So far it has been doing great.

I used to run a 36 unit apartment complex and i dont think this is a good idea, first this building belongs to someone else...not you.
second if you have a fire or anything else happen, guess what?
dude, do a micro grow or two, something self-contained you can remove quickly if needed.
the forums here are full of really cool cabs that grow great buds. be smart.
use your skills wisely for now and someday soon you can have a large grow in your own home.

Sun you give great tips. The cat inside note sounds crazy but crazy usually works. As for growing in an apartment, I don't know how ya'll do it. I'd worry all day. I know shit like pest control, furnace maintenance, utility inspections happens while most people are at work. As Sun said, he's maintenance, he has a key, unobstructed entrance to your pad. It's his choice to be a nosy dick or a cool mofo. Make peace with your maintenance man people, make a point to meet him.

irish, as far as a pussy, I'd rather be around to get some then become someones. Your using your head man and that will go a long ways to keeping you free.

Thanks. Im with you on the growing in an Apt. i couldnt do it my self but I know many do. I just aint got the Balls for it LOL

Ive been growing in an apt. for the last 4 years. you just have to be cautious about it. keep it simple and keep it small. also cabs and tents work great.

I have a great story that just happened to me.
First you should know that I have a Security Cam setup in every room of my house that I can check from cell phone or web at any time.
So my A/C broke and they came in and replaced my entire furnace ect... the guy was working right next to my humming cab for 6 hours or more. It blends in so well and I have many other room fans I keep running nearby to drown out the noise. It works great. Anyway I watched him work on my place from my computer at work. He didn't say anything or even look at any thing funny. Just came in did the work and left. He also loves my dog so I think that helps to keep things friendly. I do have some posters in my room of some great glass work and a few of dank nugs but I'm pretty sure he doesn't give a shit or even notice. Just pay my rent and enjoy life. Never hurts to be paranoid like me and have a watch on your place. Like Full service personal security. The maintenance guy said it was a good Idea to have my cameras b/c I have tools and a nice motorcycle in my garage. He even installed a brighter bulb for me in the garage with out asking just to help my camera get a better brighter view of the room.


Then intake vent is hidden under the skate board. Every wall and object are all postered up so it keeps everything blended together better. Looks good with my dim bar style lighting and signage. Also have a 90gal saltwater reef tank to keep people distracted. This pic of the cab is older. It looks even better now.

i loved NGB's threads on OG...so much that i saved them. too bad i didn't save the full pictures of the main one..oh well...
the think that i loved most is the size of it. if anyone came he could turn it off, put it in a box or a box on it, throw some clothes on it and voila...

i also like Red_Greenery's Rubbermaid grow but i can't think of a way to hide it really fast.

I've been growing in an apt for a year, and the only way I haven't been stressed to hell over it is because my dad works for the rental management company as their semi-official handy-man. I have no landlord checks and if I ever need something fixed, my dad is the guy who comes! I don't think he knows I'm growing, but he wouldn't turn me in anyways. I don't know if I could handle the stress of worrying at any other place, the random checks and intrusions would drive me crazy with worry.
