This looks kind of cool, just an idea I had earlier. 35 Vero 10, 18 3000K, 17 3500K and the red/blue bars I have already in use thrown in for extra supplementation. Hard to see the two different yellows in the picture but every other COB is 3000K, 35000K, 3000K, etc and each bar starts with alternate spectrum so they are basically in an X pattern, if that makes sense or like a checker board may describe it better.

Also Day 36 12/12 update is up in tester thread.

Hi Bueno!

Just received my COBs.

Is there any way to tell the bin per any markings in the COBs?

I ordered Z2, but the tray the came in is marked CXA3070-30F-AB-N0H....

They're possibly Z2 bin in a AB tray, but... maybe I got lucky??

The white circle/ring around the yellow center is ribbed/bumpy on the Z2s and smooth on the Z4 and AB bins, is the only way I know to tell by looking at them.

ooooh... Z2's in AB tray then... thanks a lot for the info!

Just saw one of your Z4 and the white ring looks like mine, not sure how "ribbed" looks, could you post a Z2 pic?

Also, why are you seeking white spectrum? do you notice any deficiency? I'm doing the exact opposite, adding more red to my setup...

Keep it up Bueno Time, your grows are really impressive.

Thanks hestah glad you enjoy watching. Always trying to get better.

I had a pic of them side by side Z2 and Z4 bins but must have deleted it after I sold the COBs. I have one pic of the Z2 bin I found that shows the bumpy outer edge of the white ring.

I dont really want a white spectrum necessarily, I still want some amber/yellow (warm white) to it but I want a little bit higher % blue from my COBs than the Cree 3000K 80CRI to help reduce internode length and stretch a bit. Due to such a small veg space I finish vegging under my flowering light when I harvest the last batch so they can get up in size and root mass before flipping to flower and running Cree 3000K throughout that whole time I have been getting quite significant stretch with the 3000K for finishing veg and stretch phase of flower through harvest. I want a little more blue in the COBs so I can run just COBs for vegging and flowering stretch phase and then kick on the supplemental red LEDs post stretch to boost the deep red.

:) I misunderstood! I mistakenly thought with ribbed you meant the yellow red area were surrounded by a ring protuding on the Z2 whereas AB / Z4 didn't have any ring protuding...

Seems I got lucky and got ABs from Mouser definitely! On mine apart from the tray labelling with AB code, the ring isn't like the one in that pic, is perfectly smooth as the first COB shot in this thread... yipee!!

Let's see what happens on my cab, I think I have enough blue with the XM-L's...

They might all be smooth now on newer Z2s too though I am not sure they were the only ones of the Z2 Z4 AB bin Ive used that had the bumpy perimeter.

Sounds like its possible they sent you AB bins, that would be pretty cool!

Also I was thinking last night I have my veg light 14 XML2 U2 4C 4250-4500K (efficient little buggers) and have been getting a little more stretch than I want on my mini mother plants so I was thinking about putting in my 5000K and 4000K Vero 10s to veg and have the 5000K over the mothers and 4000K over the other side for starting new seeds and clones. And then I could use the XML2s in the flowering tent for finishing veg and stretch stage of flowering to up the blue % considerably. I have the XML2s on a nice driver too a Meanwell HLG-60H-42B setup to dim from ~10-100% with a max of 60 watts. So basically 6-60watts dimmability, though the current heatsinks are undersized for passively cooling 60w, so I dont turn it up that high its more than bright enough at ~50% for the little veg area 11"x23" footprint.

Going to make another new sketchup.

Heres yet another new sketchup model for our amusement. This one uses 5x 3.5" heatsinkusa profile x 32" long each. I would take the reds/blues and XML2s off the 2.079" heatsink usa profile x 24" long sinks and put them along with the Vero 10s on the larger profile heatsinks. There would be a 1" gap between sinks and front/back walls and 2" gap between side tent walls and heatsinks on the ends.

your lighting setup is definitely evolving into a rad piece of art now.
have you been able to order everything off of jameco or a single website? i think im going to have to expand my setup of only 2 cree cxa3070's. i have a 2x2 that i want to up the lighting on. i plan on maxing out the veg capabilities on the tent, then transplant outside when im ready to flower (i live in the right climate).
how many watts are you running to your setup right now?

keep up the good work.

Nice, ya I was thinking maybe its good that I cant seem to stick with a plan and order the parts. Each time I design a new lighting setup it gets better.

Ive ordered my Meanwell drivers off Jameco, COBs from digikey (other than the AB bins which I found off a forum member on another forum), my XML2s and driver for red/blue leds from fasttech, heatsinks bars from heatsinkusa, alpine 11 plus coolers for the COBs from newegg, red and blue LEDs from stevesled and ACRC. I get the parts from wherever has the best price and highest bin LEDs. Would be nice to order everything from one place though.

For a 2x2 4 3070s ought to do you well dont you think? 1 per sq ft of canopy space or are you trying to supplement the spectrum with some monochromes?

My current setup with the 3 3070s and 18 red/blue leds is ~190w LED dissipation and 220w draw at the wall socket measured with a Kill A Watt, including the driver losses and fans/adapter for the CPU coolers.

Looking good!! Are the red and blue leds you are using flat and round like the cree leds or are they just a simple tiny led bulb like used for various hobbie's.

These are the 630nm ones I got, had them mounted/soldered onto 20mm aluminum stars before shipping for me, which is free with any order just have to ask for it. Shipping is pretty fast and inexpensive from China

The 660nm and 450nm I have are these ones also on 20mm stars, stevesled just recently got a new higher bin in too on these, the 450nm are something around 60% efficient or something crazy like that, mine are the EX6 and M4R bin, shipping is fast within USA.

These are the XM-L2 4300-4500K on 20mm stars Im using, shipping is reasonably fast and free from China.

Thank's Bueno, I got to start saving my pennies so I can build me some led lights. I am using a 400 hps a friend loaned me.

what exactly will monochromes do for lighting? Ive been rading your thread to gain more knowledge on the whole DIY LEDs.

I have some blue LEDs but i dont know if they even put out the right spectrum.

i might upgrade and get those other lights. I'd ultimately like to crank out clones but keep it to this tent size.
