Not meaning to start any shit here, but I don't associate with homophobic groups, nor support their existance.....

agreed... its kinda funny too... the whole thing from the top seems like one big group of mofo's still in the closet

i was in cub scouts one year, but when i brought my entire collection of MAD magazines to one meeting the soccer moms made it clear to my mom that i would never be accepted

thanks god, i found plenty of better shit to do anyways

I never really understood how people keep their kids out of scouts because "they go in the woods with an older man, pedophilia could be happening." You gotta wonder about your kids if they are letting it happen. I had a knife, If my scoutmaster ever tried to get me naked I would have let him known where it stands.

Then there is something wrong with those 10-11 year olds. They should be taught that no adult has the right to get you naked, touch your body. I guess I was just a knife happy kid, always looking for an excuse to get bloody.

i was in cub scouts for about a year. Have any of you seen the episode of penn and teller bullshit about the bsa? they talk about how they have been owned by the mormon church since the 80's. for this reason they discriminate against gays and atheists, which would be fine if they didn't hold meetings at public schools and receive money from the state.

i found this from the show. funny.

I remember when I was real young my mom told me not to walk between large vans because I was a cute kid and some sicko would probably love to have me. I had no idea what that meant for a long time, I just knew that if anyone ever touched me that wasn't in my family, I would stab them. I was taught that no one needed to be touching me unless I let them, and if they did otherwise...it was ok to take appropriate actions. Plus, I was in karate, and my teacher was all for teaching little kids about sick adults. He basically told us "To fuck with the consequences, neutralize the threat."

Plus, we never really spent that much time with the adults....we were always off getting lost in the woods. The adults just kicked back and napped all the time. And drank coffee.

I got my Eagle a while back. I have a lot of misgivings about staying in scouts since the beginning (Tiger --> Eagle), but I did like having the opportunity to get outdoors. If I could do it all again, I would pass on scouts. The adult leaders in my troop sucked ass. I was harassed for going to see a Michael Moore film, not supporting the war, etc. The leaders seemed like they were looking to pick a fight. The leaders were always the ones to bring up the subject of "What do you guys think about _____?"

A good troop makes all the difference. Unfortunately, I can't say that I had a really good scout troop out of the 3 I was in during Boy Scouts (Not Cub Scouts). Those troop changes were caused by my family moving.

It would've been funny if some scout master tried to molest us, a group of poor kids with knives who could tie knots and start fires and were all hyped up on bug juice. I don't think he would've gotten very far without getting tied up and stabbed and then burned at the stake.

I agree with zamalito....I didn't have to deal with boy scouts but i got my knife in Cub scouts and the den leader was one of my best friends moms,
(a good thing)
and i had 2 tight friends and we all had knives and strong parents,
my dad took my knife away many times and as i was growing up a couple of others also...........and i did not get them back till after he passed and i
was a man out on my own for over 20 yrs.

Parents really need to get to know and cummunicate with there kids.
let em know Monsters come in all shapes and sizes and don't look like monsters ! and let the kids know they can talk to there parents about any thing, with out being worried about getting punished or embarresed.
Keep that line open, and listen.

I had to have my brother remind me, and then I googled my lodge name....and viola. I remember they didn't have mine for awhile, so I had to wait on it.
