You don't have to chose who to believe as Mr. Jeans points are completely valid, it's a matter of opinion if it's a significant advantage.
My post was meant with all due respect to Mr. Green Jeans.

No prob suby - there's a million ways to skin a cat. I'm used to air layering because I use it to get bonsai material. Here's an example of a myrtle I took as an air layering from a friend's tree.

For size - the pot is 2 feet long, the trunk is just shy of 4" diameter. When I air layered the branch it was 3" diameter.

Haven't tried it on 420, but I might soon!

nice outdoor garden greenjeans :)

Question: would it be possible to air-layer a cutting from a plant in flowering? This could be a solution if clones get lost/mislabeled and you need to salvage a cutting without revegging................ I dont know why anyone would have tried this tho :p arent plants fun to play with?

Hiya FG!
Ya know, I've only air layered hardwood plants, so I just don't know about that - never tried it. Would be an interesting experiment, and if it didn't work you wouldn't necessarily lose the branch!

Problem is it takes a bit longer than the way we normally root cuttings, so it's possible the plant will be done flowering by the time it roots an air layer. For plants like 420 that live 3-6 months I think the normal rooting procedures are best, or at least simpler and as effective or moreso.
