Well one phonecall and the inspection should pay them a visit, if their measurement devices are off, they could lose their licence. Question is would you want to do that to the community, it might get into the news and be used as more "proof" that the cannabis world in the NL is saturated with organized crime with the argument that they should stop het gedoogbeleid...

Maybe a friendly talk with the manager might work :S

Not a bad idea to talk to the management in private.

He may not be aware, the employees could be ripping him off as well. If you present the information in a manner that makes the owner think your only trying to help I bet you may make some headway.

I own a few sets of calibrated masses (from 10mg up to 100g) everyone I interact with knows I have them. When I use any scale other than one I know to be accurate, I always check it. Because of that I have never had a problem with short weight.

Coins are made to exacting mass specifications (in order to work in vending machines, phones etc) so they are useful for a "spot check" of a scale. A US nickel weighs 5g, and a dollar bill weighs 1g.

If the shop refused to let me see the weight of a bill or coin on the shop scale I would call the weights & measures inspectors. That kind of fraud needs to stop.

How often are the shops inspected? What are the requirements for measurement traceability? Do they display the calibration sticker in plain view?

Don't let people rip you off.

it's been a few years since my last visit to the dam but if this place is a coffee shop with quality boo, i would probably frequent it. i am one of those who trips the lights fantastic and in the course of an evening, i consume a lot. but in the big pic, it is only a matter of two days or so and i have located the coffee shop getting the bulk of my euros. and i don't use a scale either.

it's sad to hear shops now resort to these tactics. in the usa this sort of action is akin to the butcher also weighing his thumb with your roast but imo, behaviour such as this is very atypical dutch. i can see a hard bargain but never cheating? klm airlines is an example. pretty sure they are subsidzed by the dutch government to get a reasonably priced ticket to the tourist? but it is a fact that it is cheaper for me to fly to the dam from midwest usa then it is to fly to vegas. doesn't make sense to me either except through intelligent government intervention. peace-biteme
