4000K has a lot more blue, but so does the sun which seems to flower things ok.

If in doubt you could sneak in a couple of 3000k between them to bring up the red a bit.

I read a thread, on here I think, which made some pretty valid points on 4000k being ideal if you only want one bulb for veg and flower.

Plenty of people veg under 3000k or flower under 5000k/6500k with no real problems, go for it.

I am sure you have already mentioned this, but may i ask if the led bulbs are dimmable or non?

Yes the bulbs I bought are dimmable.

You do have to make sure they say they are dimmable. Wally world carries two lights made by the same company, same wattage, basically same price, but one is dimmable and the other isn't.

Tested a few of the Philips LED bulb ballasts for temps.

8.5w Philips ballast maxed out around 120F.

14.5w Philips ballast maxed out around 180F.

Pretty significant difference between the two.

*WOOPS* Meant to post this in your other thread.

Plant is looking great!

Yeah I noticed they run stupidly hot. They need fins. The way the heatsink is done is poor, that white plastic base keeps the heat in. Do you think it would be practical to get a knife and cut the white plastic off to expose the aluminum underneath for improved cooling?

My 14.5 Phillips does get pretty warm, but it has been really hot outside as well.

I think it's crazy, here we are trying to run Cree/Vero COBs at well under 50C COB temp, and Phillips run their LED bulbs at 80C or more measured at the heatsink temp!

No wonder they only claim 100lm/Watt.
