Chop day!

Wet/dry weight pics up soon. Will be interesting to see the results considering one plant died and there are only three plants flowering.

That NHxMango looks really nice! How long are you planning to take her?

Also I notice that you also keep buds all the way to the very bottom. If I were you I think I would have the urge to trim the bottom 3-4 buds as they are really way down there and barely get any light. Do you have any specific arguments against this practise or perhaps care to give your opinion on the topic?

brilliant,
this keeps amazing me all the time.

I know! Quit reading my damn mind root!

Blynx - You may have answered this already but there are a lot of pages in this thread hah. Have you noticed a difference in the results with the lights being at an angle and having better downward light penetration?

That haze is lookin crazy as hell though! pretty interested to see the results. Im really wanting a nice motivating sativa smoke and have been looking at other micro sativa threads to see how people are doing with it. Typically you read that you cant grow it in small spaces but if we believed everything we read....

i just read this topic from start to finish and all i can say is AMAZING!!!im in the process of fitting out a micro cab and this has inspired me no ends. The detail and accompanying photos are almost a how to guide,a must read for anyone considering micro grows...you are a bonsai master and now the sativa micro?hope you pull it off all fingers crossed by me...you are inspiring mate and i give you a big thumbs up from australia, just awesome...

Here's the results from the last round in the 1sq ft cab

Even tho one plant died, I still ended up with slightly under an ounce out of one square foot, so again I really can't complain.

Next round will be starting soon.

lol at the wet and dry weights on plant 1a , lol POTM nominee cheered me up and made me smile. can ya get a few close up pics of some nice sister nugs b ? i read very good things about the sister , and all the chems for that matter , ive just smoked a sister cross and it was some realy potent stuff to me, sister/nl seeds from zoo that df found a nice pheno that was the best out of a bunch of strains i sampled. anyway another nice documentation from professor blynx helping the world know they can grow good smoke with a porch light(as babba would say).

I don't think she's gonna go the 90 days I had originally planned.

Removing the lower growth does NOT increase overall weight and doesn't make the upper buds/colas larger.

The only reason to trim lower growth is to make the end trim job easier/quicker.

The lower material is similar to fan leaves in that they are a source of photosynthesis/energy for the plant. I don't ever trim lowers on a plant. If the plant needs the energy, the lowers will die and then I throw them away. If they don't die then the larf goes into the bubble pile with the sugar trim.

I haven't noticed a difference because I try to grow my plants up into and around the lights no matter which way they are mounted.

I am curious to see how the NHxM comes out this round, as it is the first run of it from clone. The run, under HPS, I did before was from seed.

Hey blynx, I appreciate the thread and all the info you put into it. I have a couple questions for you:

1. Do you ever have any troubles with molds or critters?
2. Do you use any type of intake filter as a preventative measure for such things?
3. What about putting some CFLs below the scrog to encourage lower/downward growth? Would that be beneficial in any way? I have never seen it mentioned anywhere so far...
4. How much carbon do you use in your boxes?

I am a total noob working on putting together my own box and I want to make sure I have all the bases covered as well as get maximum yield for the tiny area.

Thanks!

1. No. Good airflow helps prevent mold and I haven't had pests get into the micro cabs.

2. No

3. I think with a scrog you would run into heat issues because heat rises and the scrog/canopy would block that hot air from efficiently leaving the cab. All my cabs have intakes at the bottom of the cab and exhaust holes near/at the top of the cabs. So while air does go through the canopy, it's cooler air. All the hot air from the bulbs is above the canopy and goes straight up and out the cab with minimal plant heating.

4. The 1sq ft cfl cab has a homemade can style carbon scrubber in it that has probably about 1.5" thickness of carbon. The 11" x 11" cfl cab has about a 2" "carbon scrubber sandwich" between the top of the cab and the exhaust fan. The cfl scrog doesn't have a scrubber, I never got around to making one for it.
