How can anyone ignore it when the BS (on both sides) is blatantly right in front of your face??? :dunno:

You're not wrong. It's hard as hell.

We're such hermits that, for us, the desire to just detach from everything is always there.

In the end, I'm not rich so the system is never gonna help me. I'm only fortunate that due to who we are, we're not likely gonna be disaffected either. It's selfish, I get it but the wife is chronically ill, and putting the effort forth at this point isn't worth it.

Sad but true.
It's all about money, greed, power and screw anything that gets in the way.
Citizens United pushers and large corporate donors never donate altruistically. They are always buying something that benefits them.

Humans are always gonna find a way to rig a system to satisfy the lust for power. We'll battle this until the end of our time here.

Our system here just tilts the advantage toward the takers a bit more and it's getting more and more top-heavy. Another realignment is due, for sure.

Judge Blocks Certification of Pennsylvania Election Results

Pennsylvania has been stopped from certifying their election results. Commonwealth Judge Patricia McCullough ordered the state to not take any further steps in certifying the election results until both parties are heard on November 27th.
The judge’s decision would probably upset the Democrats who do not want the election process to be scrutinized closely.
Judge Patricia McCullough wrote:
“To the extent that there remains any further action to perfect the certification of the results of the 2020 General Election for the offices of President and Vice President of the United States of America, respondents are preliminarily enjoined from doing so, pending an evidentiary hearing to be held on Friday.”
“Respondents are preliminarily enjoined from certifying the remaining results of the election, pending the evidentiary hearing.”
The plaintiffs which include Republican lawmakers and candidates was filed against Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf, Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar, and the Pennsylvania General Assembly. It alleges that they violated vote-by-mail statute—Act 77. They say it is a direct violation of the Pennsylvania constitution and can only be implemented by amending the constitution.

The lawsuit states:

“Act 77 is the most expansive and fundamental change to the Pennsylvania voting code, implemented illegally, to date.”
“As with prior historical attempts to illegally expand mail-in voting by statute, which have been struck down going as far back as the Military Absentee Ballot Act of 1839, Act 77 is another illegal attempt to override the limitations on absentee voting prescribed in the Pennsylvania Constitution, without first following the necessary procedure to amend the constitution to allow for the expansion.”
The lawsuit was filed by Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.), Republican congressional candidate Sean Parnell, and Pennsylvania House of Representatives candidate Wanda Logan. The Epoch Times requested a statement from Gov Tom Wolf’s office but none was forthcoming. They argued there was no reason to certify so quickly and noted that they certified the 2016 vote on December 12th.
The plaintiffs wrote:
“It appears that respondents’ actions may have been accelerated in response to the application for emergency relief … in an effort to preclude any remedial action by this court faster than this court was able to evaluate the application for emergency relief and the answers to it.”

It's the process of evolution. It would go allot smoother if we could acknowledge that greed is an inherent problem and put some guard rails in place.

Read up on the Fourth Turning Theory. Kind of interesting when taken in the context of what's happening today.

Wikipedia said:
The Strauss–Howe generational theory, also known as the Fourth Turning theory or simply the Fourth Turning, describes a theorized recurring generation cycle in American history and global history. It was devised by William Strauss and Neil Howe. According to the theory, historical events are associated with recurring generational personas (archetypes). Each generational persona unleashes a new era (called a turning) lasting around 20-25 years, in which a new social, political, and economic climate (mood) exists. They are part of a larger cyclical "saeculum" (a long human life, which usually spans between 80 and 100 years, although some saecula have lasted longer). The theory states that after every saeculum, a crisis recurs in American history, which is followed by a recovery (high). During this recovery, institutions and communitarian values are strong. Ultimately, succeeding generational archetypes attack and weaken institutions in the name of autonomy and individualism, which ultimately creates a tumultuous political environment that ripens conditions for another crisis.

Strauss and Howe laid the groundwork for their theory in their 1991 book Generations, which discusses the history of the United States as a series of generational biographies going back to 1584.[1] In their 1997 book The Fourth Turning, the authors expanded the theory to focus on a fourfold cycle of generational types and recurring mood eras[2] to describe the history of the United States, including the Thirteen Colonies and their British antecedents. However, the authors have also examined generational trends elsewhere in the world and described similar cycles in several developed countries.[3]

Academic response to the theory has been mixed—some applauding Strauss and Howe for their "bold and imaginative thesis" and others criticizing the theory as being overly-deterministic, unfalsifiable, and unsupported by rigorous evidence,[4][5][6][7][8] "about as scientific as astrology or a Nostradamus text."[9] Strauss–Howe generational theory has also been described by some historians and journalists as a "pseudoscience",[6][10][11] "kooky",[12] and "an elaborate historical horoscope that will never withstand scholarly scrutiny."[13][14][15] Academic criticism has focused on the lack of rigorous empirical evidence for their claims,[16] and the authors' view that generational groupings are more powerful than other social groupings such as economic class, race, sex, religion, and political parties.[17]

If you prescribe to the theory, Donald Trump's election in 2016 signaled the beginning of the 4th turning.

Yup, I've been thinking a lot lately about how this election and the times are so much like the late 60's - 70's with Hippies and revolutionary ideas coming out of California vs. the silent majority, etc.

These guys just stepped on their own dick. The legislature is Republican controlled. Act 77 is Republican legislation enacted in 2019. So you've got Republicans arguing that their own legislation is illegal.

They have to certify by November 30th. The terms of all the House members and 1/2 the Senate expires on the 30th. No certification, no effective Government. It's all or nothing. If they can't certify the down ballot races, they don't have a functioning legislature.

And it doesn't mean dick. Even if they could get the results tossed and somehow magically appoint electors that would give the EV's to Trump, Biden still has more than 270 EV's and Trump still loses.

It's a desperate Hail Mary that could have some very unintended consequences.

I remeber those days giggles. I was 4-14 at the time.

It goes without saying, it wasn't until my teens that I knew what the F... was going on.

I stayed away from politics for most of my life. I was woke in '08.

Didn't really pay attention to politics until 2015, on all places an Archery Forum.

I regret the day! To such an extent that... I have a DNR in my will. I told the missus tonight... should I fall from the Rona, just tell them to make me comfortable. I didn't sign up for the world we are presently living in. What a shit show!!!!!

Whichever way you slice it = a shit show. We will never know the truth, just like whom shot Kennedy, although everyone knows who caused it!!

BTW, an interesting tidbit... Kennedy was shot 22 Nov '63. I was busted 22 Nov '74, court martial-ed and sentenced 1 apr '75. Are you kidding me? It wasn't a joke.

Agreed. Power is just so seductive. I don't know that we'll see that level of enlightenment in our lifetime. Baby steps, I suppose.

I'd heard of it but I don't recall knowing what it was exactly. Information overload and all that.

The theory sounds like a historical data point the author of a favorite book series of mine would've used. So much so that he named the series The Wheel of Time.
