Hammerhead, First forgive me in advance for th lengthy reply, all facets of business that requires one on one communications over the telephone, has been part of my professional life personally for decades and there were times many moons ago that my company's phone bills "exceeded" 10k/month.
With all due respect I have faithfully paid AT&T for 30 years for my 800 toll free incoming service ( "free" to y'all or anyone who calls me, I have to pay for each and every incoming call! ) and they, ATT are truly the best of all the carriers for 800# business service.
I then years later had "unlimited" outbound with att for only $40 bucks a month, anywhere in the USA at any time and that was on each line of a 4 line phone system. But it was all connected to the main line and so I had several grown men supporting their families with this system and it cost me $40.00 bucks a months with ATT for ALL of them for their outbound calls which were considerable. This is more than 30 years ago when rates were much higher.
It's was tough tough tough tough tough to build my business in the beginning and needed every minute to focus on building the business not fighting with people but suddenly I was getting DOZENS of harrassing calls from a former legal assistant to rudy guiliani who was a client of mine and just lonely I guess. He spent a couple or a few hundred thousand dollars with me and I guess because of that he felt he was entitled to call me every single day, sometimes dozens of calls and every one of them that connects I had to pay for so I had ATT block his number from calling me within seconds. Zap, gone. Then the calls started again and ATT determined it was from a PAYPHONE outside of a supermarket in Washington nj so I asked, can you block payphones and ATT replied affirmative so I asked them to block every pay phone within a 30 mile radius of this jerks house and if he truly wants to call me again he'll have to either drive to Manhattan or the opposite direction and find a payphone in Pennsylvania to call. Att was extremely helpful and also send the guy a letter than interfering with a small business like this was a felony that they would pursue next. That ended that saga and I was left essentially a happy loyal lifelong att client as a result of all the support and then the sudden DECREASE in the amounts I had to write checks for which for anyone in business for themselves is a great thing

Also Amazon has AC power supplies that run for about an hour off a battery and put out 115 VAC.
