screw bellinda and mill gates foundation... i had the opportunity to chat with a prof who is doing research on eddible vaccines on behalf of that foundation, and let me tell you sopn, the whole "roadmap" sounded VERY fishy to me... but hey, they pay top $

I was born in the late 40's. Growing up in the 50's; every kid worried about polio, especially in the summertime. When you saw classmates with polio in wheelchairs; the fear was overwhelming.
1956 the prevention/vaccine arrived....but damn!...it hurt.

That's not funny, my grandfather died at Auschwitz.

I think Bill Gates is perhaps one of the greatest men of our time. Not only did he build one of the world's most valuable companies (Microsoft) and usher-in the PC-era, and in the process become one of the richest men in the world, but he is devoting the latter half of his life to philanthropy using his fortune and great intellect to systematically tackle some of world's toughest problems: poverty, global health, and education. You gotta give a guy who can do all that respect. Corporate greed may be destroying the environment and turning us all into wage slaves, but Bill Gates and the work his foundation is doing is an incredible force of good in the world, and history will look back upon him with well-deserved reverence.

Gates chose to put his money into fighting polio and malaria. Without the profit motivation, nobody was going to work on treatments. Since these are now mostly third world diseases that affect poor people, there is no money in it for big pharma to try and develop cures. So this is where Gates decided to spend his money. I applaud him for this work.
Losty you do make a good point there mate - to some extent we need to be exposed to things in order for our immune systems to evolve ... (i think that's how they make antivenom? - using horses to increasingly gain resistance) i just wish i had a better understanding of how peanuts could contribute to this conversation

Look into peanut allergy in Israel. Was listening to am radio one time and they were talking about this. Supposedly in isreal. Every baby when still very young like 6 weeks or so is taken t the doctor and a peanut is rubbed on there gums. For many this is a harmless exercise but for others it sends them in to shock. Not to worry, bang them up with a bit of adrenaline and there sweet. Not only that. The ones who had reactions as babies develop resistance and isreal doesnt have anywhere near the allergy problems most countries do. All because of a little exposure in a controlled environment.
I it was years ago and i was def stoned while listening but made me think.
Spoke about it with a macro biologist in Kakadu. Why a macro biologist well ya dont get to shoot the shit with csiro doctors every day, especially in a wilderness park and they cant run away from me. The dude himself was a fool. Kept on going on about the dangers of french cheese which had just been allowed into australia at the same time agreeing with me that whatever doesn't kill you makes u stronger.
