If I get neurological damage from one, I will take solace in the fact I am protected by the very small chance I would've been exposed to a virus and might not have been able to fight it off. Added to the fact,.getting vaccination for something doesn't mean you're protected. It just means you can ramp up antibodies fast enough to defeat a virus. Most people beat the flu. Others die. Old or young or weak. Flu shot only...really if that. I know my body eats up sickness. I can send out antibodies. Many people don't realize that their immune system is compromised from depression, medication and stress.
One shot may be fine. Right? Because you only want to protect against the virus, h7n9 because maybe its actually spreading and a body isn't used to that type of flu.

So in summation. Ten shots is bad. 1 shot that is needed is better.

Figure this. What are my chances of coming down with one? Slim, but still there.
Now, what are my chances of getting an infection and piercing the skin.....while others are around JUST breathing. Id say there is more risk of that, than you actually catching something the vaccine was supposed to treat.

I would get it if it were spreading a lot. Not because I care about me. It's better to get one at that point because you don't want to be a force multiplier for a pandemic.

Some pretty amazing comments here. In the US polio used to be a scourge. Parents were afraid to let their kids go out to play in the summer "polio season". They wouldn't allow their children to swim in public pools for fear of infection. Hospital wards were filled with paralyzed victims kept alive in iron lung breathing machines.

We don't have that anymore here in the US. I remember what a big deal it was when the oral vaccine became available. As a little kid I stood in a huge public line to get my turn to receive this vaccination. The summer epidemics are now history. It simply isn't a problem here anymore except for those who've been out of the country.

The terror and misery of smallpox is now eradicated worldwide. What a blessing for humanity. We were on our way to doing the same for polio. Unfortunately it doesn't look like this will be allowed to happen.

Smallpox is thought to have entered the human population a very long time ago as camelpox. The reservoir of actual human adapted smallpox that exists that we should be concerned about, is the stores of weaponized genetically altered smallpox developed by the former Soviet Union.

Antibiotics affect bacteria. Influenza is a virus. No relation between the two unless it relates to pneumonia from the opportunistic bacterial infections that can result from a respiratory viral case.

oh yeah that is a good point crusader antibiotics kill bacteria, but i was actually thinking of pneumonia though because it is the main way in which the flu kills people, mainly the elderly or with other health complications.. on its own in a healthy person it is not a problem but with a bacterial build up in the respiratory tract/lungs and tissues/fluid the common flu is deadly and there are alot of bacterial pathogens that like lungs that are developing immunity fast... which with a decrease in general health from poor food (lack thereof) will run rife as will the flu.. which is the problem i speculate will be much worse than any because people's health today is dire already for the most part,,, and all we would need is food shortages and people's organs will start packing in left right and center..

lots of people do not realise that they have pneumonia to some extent and it can stay with you for a long time,, say then if you get a bit run down and get a good virilent flu at the same time it can within a day or two cook your brain by running your bodies homeostasis out of wack,, that's how it kills people in their 40 and 50s a bit older and it can see you off on its own..
