nothing like running a complete grow
getting a great yield

but fuck it up on the last step..

jarring too early = mold

that's the most cruel "grow fuck" until here...I mean...just like running the marathon and giving up 10 meters before the finish line...

The two biggest fuckups I've always seen are usually laziness and bad advice from other growers.

Laziness and cutting corners is obvious,

Bad advice sometimes is harder to watch out for, we as growers love to talk shop, but there is also a bravado aspect, many growers will give out shit advice rather than admit they don't know the answer. Many mainstream grower celebrities are full of shit too making it even harder.

For example: I could take an easy to use growing medium like pro-mix and a reasonable off the shelf base nutrient and get a pH lockout.
If I were to show people pictures of my yellowing leaves, half the people giving me advice are comparing the pics to the leaf chart in the cervantes grow bible and then telling me I need some hippy tincture to add more [insert deficient nutrient here]
When in reality my plant had everything it needed to begin with, it just needed the pH dealt with.

If I'm a new grower, how do I determine which piece of advice is the correct one?

Misinformation alone IMO causes a great deal of new grower problems.

My first grow was flawless ...the big screw ups came on the 3rd, 6th, 8th, & 19th grows....:whee:

I bought a sack of Kool Bloom powder. Never found the right amount or time to apply that actually enhances yield. It relaxes the tight fist which ain't necessarily net gain. I might try it on rock bud but otherwise it just sits on the shelf.

I'll have that shit for decades.

just the other week i must have knocked a timer and put it fully on so the plants got nearly two weeks of 24hours light when they were in week 5 of flower:bashhead:,, made a damn mess of things, being an idiot i thought it was all just a ph thing for a while

i just don't have the time to be fucking around in grow rooms anymore like i used to,,& the last few years have been too much.. sometimes i wish i could fuck it off, as fun as it is it can make you feel so low if you repeatedly don't reach your expectations for whatever reason..

nice bump.

When I was just getting started..

Small grow in a little basement bedroom. Nowhere to dry; I trimmed everything and layed the buds in cardboard flats. Had the bright idea to slide them under the bed and let things dry up there out of harms way.

Returned to every bud covered in dog & cat hair. I mean seriously covered. Doh..

i felt low so searched for "fuck up" lol

pinball's post probably sums it up best..

my actual biggest one was probably similar to max headroom's when i left a great crop in the darkness for three days at the end of a grow and they all got pm.. lmao - not.. plenty of fuck ups though, i've killed whole crops with pH retardedness, buying soil with spider mites in.. never ends..

fox on the run lol.

fox on the run lol.

:) hiya all, just a bit of fun,,thinking of bad fuck ups when first started growing, i will start it off with one of my very early harvests, after cutting down drying i noticed my skunk1 buds looked odd and not like other buds already cured from same grow, cos they were very wispy buds, some had foxtailed[only fox i knew back then had 4 legs] etc, i made the decision to chuck 15oz in the bin but keep a bit back for my old friend[who was more educated at the time regarding diff types of weed strains etc ],to ask what had gone wrong, when he saw what i had chucked he freaked out, i had chucked 15oz of lovely sativa dominant buds in the fucking rubbish, gone forever, oh well live and learn, that was just under 11yrs ago and a hard lesson to swallow, well, thats my starter for one, cheers peace and safe growing s2:ying:
:tiphat: lol yes mate just came across this , gov down here has spent millions on trying to spot and capture a bloody fox[ red herring] so you got out of it preety cheap, lve it when those fox tails appear.

oh, i've got one...waking up shitfaced and pissing in my watering jug, only to forget about it in the morning. Then, I went ahead and watered with it, killing off the entire closet and stinking up my room in the process...

oh, another... Towards the end of my first really great harvest, I decided to just ignore the fungus gnat infestation I had going on, since I didn't want to add any poison so close to harvest...instead, many of them little buggers got sticky stuck in the buds and I spent several full days with my tweezers picking them off...

I once tried to move some flowering plants (think they were like 5-6 weeks in) to a new location in tall/chair boxes in the back of a pick-up truck. Got about half way to destination when a strong cross-wind blew three of the four boxes out of the bed of the truck. This was in the middle of the day on a heavy trafficked street. Can you say FREAKOUT! I've never flipped a bitch so fast in my life. Ended up recovering the plants with minimal damage. Lesson here: don't trust bungy cords!

-Storing my seeds over winter in an 80% to 100% humid animal barn.
Was a small batch of a couple of hundereds, not too precious seeds, but none of them ever popped there after.

- Sprying 'off' (a DEET based mosquito repellent) over my hands while at the spot. > The remainder spray dropped on the sprouts and killed em off competely.

-choosing a strain for its appearance(ultra purple killing fields) rather than the traits that really matter, like flavor, quality of high, and growth characteristics.
-getting greedy and fertilizing with chem nutes about 40-45 days in flower, for a boost in yield because I wasn't satisfied with the size of the buds. Didn't help yield one bit, but sure as hell ruined the flavor, even after a 3 week flush, as I took a few test buds earlier on and they were perfect in flavor. Used chem in veg though for its more instant effect and for clones to survive better than if ferted with organics.
-that my dwc plant death catastrophes were most likely because the res got too hot, and I needed to either get a res cooler or modify a water cooler, or wait until winter to do dwc.
